Hello! Our house is a couple blocks off broadway in the northern section of the Capitol Hill neighborhood. We are a mix of locals, folks new to the area and travelers This is a great place for guests on a budget who enjoy sharing common space with locals and other travelers. This is also a great option to anyone just moving to the area.

The space
Hello! Our house is a couple blocks off broadway in the northern section of the Capitol Hill neighborhood. The room is one of five bedrooms in our house. You will be staying with roommates and other airbnb guests. We have a cozy kitchen, bathroom and living room with lots of light! You can do laundry downstairs ($1 wash / $1 dry), and hang out in our lovely living room.

Our house is the tall, dark and handsome type, height / weight proportionate, with a red brick exterior (if you're into that sort of thing). Good to know we are an older home, not a hotel so the aesthetics come with the territory. We're two blocks from Broadway, with a stupid amount of cool shit and buses within walking distance. You can get to the Pike/Pine nightlife in a short 10-minute walk.

Broadway has transformed from its grungy gutter-punk needles-and-heroin 90s roots. Maklemore filmed a music video here last night. Sir Mix-A-Lot wrote "My Posse's on Broadway" about it. Pearl Jam came up with their name at B&O Espresso just down the block (RIP B&O – now moved to Ballard).

We also live right by the library, and we've even been there a few times.

The room can hold one person. The room is a converted attic so its ceilings are slopped on the sides of the room. For folks over 6 ft this may feel like a squeeze. The room has closet space, desk and chair, lamps, 4 bath towels, bedding provided, shelving and drawer space, french press, hot water pot, tea and coffee, iron and ironing board, TV with basic cable and locked 2 drawer file cabinet provided. The locked 2 drawer cabinet key will be on top of the file cabinet upon guest room check in. Guests should return the key to on top of the file cabinet when they check out from the room. The room door has a lockable deadbolt on it so guests can lock their room when in or leaving the room. The wifi signal is weak in this room so we have an ethernet cord that runs to the room. Guests in this room are welcome to use our living room anytime of the day where the wifi signal is strong. We supply a fan and air purifier in the room that also act as background noise. We find that in a house with several people these can be helpful tools to minimizing noise disturbances. We also provide ear plugs in this room.

The room is on our third floor which is a converted attic. The third floor has leah's room, a shared space where an airbnb guest may stay and this room. As we only have one bathroom we limit the overall number of guests in the house to 5 at one time. Due to this we limit the guests in this room to one guest.

The 2nd floor contains all of our common spaces. Guests are welcome to use all common spaces in our house. We ask that guests not enter private spaces or any door that is unlabeled. The bathroom is labeled and the kitchen and living room have open door ways. The laundry room is in the basement. Directions will be provided in the house manual after finalizing booking.

Be aware that our house is older, and feels very lived-in. The paint and furniture have blemishes, our carpets have stains that won't quit and our tile floor looks like it needs a mopping even after a vigorous cleaning. Our building has some elements that disrupt wifi signal (brick etc) so the signal can be weak in certain areas of the house. The living room has great signal and is available to all guests any time of day. We deep clean the house a couple times a week and do daily light cleaning. While our house shows it age, it will always be cleaned up and ready for guests! We appreciate our house for the location and the people.

Our neighborhood can be challenging to park in and only street parking is available. There is a mix of street parking (free with time restrictions, paid parking during day time hours) available. Most of the nearby street parking is limited to 2 hours at a time during day time hours. Previous guests with cars have found nearby parking garages to get a monthly pass. These can be found by searching online to find the best option for you.

You'll be staying with two of us and a few other airbnb guests:

Leah: Leah has lived in the house since 2011 Leah is a Midwest transplant who grew up in Michigan and spent a few years in Chicago before relocating to Seattle. Living with Leah is like summer camp. Her favorite moments in life are (1) when the power goes out (camping time!), (2) summer barbecues, and (3) when everyone wants to have a dance party. She's really good at people. Leah has several part time jobs that range from working as an ABA therapy assistant (therapy for youth with Autism), staff in a young adult shelter, Residential Advisor for High School International students in a dorm setting and driving with Lyft. Leah likes to keep busy and is often out of the house. You are most likely to see her around if you are at the house during late morning/early afternoon or get a ride from her!

Andrew: Andrew has lived in the house since 2017. Andrew is originally from florida and loves cooking with butter, playing D&D, world building for games, history, science and spicy snacks. Andrew is pursuing a career in nursing and currently works with international high school students in a dorm setting.

Guest access
Our house check in time is flexible while our Room Check in/out times are firm. Room check in time is any time AFTER 3pm and check out is any time BEFORE noon. Guests are welcome to store their luggage in the living room prior to 3pm on their check in day and after 12pm on their check out day. We are not available to greet guests in person upon arrival, however guests are provided detailed check in instructions prior to their arrival and Leah is available via text during your stay.

Guests are welcome to use any of our common spaces. All our common spaces are on the 2nd floor. The bathroom is labeled and the kitchen and living room are through open doorways. We ask guests to not enter any other private rooms or unlabeled rooms.

Other things to note
The room has a deadbolt keyed lock on the door. The key for the room will be available in the room upon arrival. The room is in a converted attic so the ceiling is vaulted and sloped in areas.

We try to maintain an house environment infused with trust that it is unnecessary to lock up valuable items. While we have never had any issues with this in the past, we recognize that guests may feel more safe when able to lock their room while in it and lock up their belongings when not in the room. We ask that all guests contribute to the trustworthy environment in our home.

My roommate and I host guests at our house in seattle and have second house that I am the manager of. The bookings are all through my roommates profile so the reviews aren't visible here. Our listings are a series of "Capitol Hill Excursion" and "Crayola Home" in the Seattle Capitol Hill neighborhood. I am excited to travel with airbnb and meet hosts from around the world! I am using airbnb currently to find places to stay on my first international trip! I'm a recovering social worker and have been taking time away from that line of work to enjoy the brighter things in life!

During your stay
Mostly via text/phone. Leah does all the guest communications. She works multiple part time jobs and is available via text/phone to answer questions during your stay.

The trip itinerary on airbnb will have our address, directions to the house and our house manual. This includes information on essentials and recommendations from roommates on what to check out in the area.

We find that most of our guests from different rooms enjoy getting to meet each other. This tends to happen because folks are in common spaces at the same time. Guests are welcome to hang out in common spaces and encouraged to get to know other guests who are staying here.
