Erik’s Ranch is a nonprofit organization that offers upscale lodging run by young adults with autism. They are tour guides, sous chefs, ski instructors, horse groomers, and more. All for whom meaningful careers are scarce.

You are part of the solution.

When you stay with us, you’ll be in a beautiful house just 45 minutes from Yellowstone while providing living accommodations, social opportunities, and meaningful work for our members.

Welcome to Erik's Ranch. Where vision knows no bounds.

The space
The Cargill-Earl Guesthouse at Erik's Ranch is privately situated on 230 acres of land, Off-The-Grid, with 360-degree, unobstructed panoramic views. Luxuriate in peace, solitude and privacy where the sunrise and sunset guide your days. We want our guests to feel they are living in the extraordinary Montana landscape, with the protection and comfort of living indoors, thus our glass houses with entire walls that open to the great outdoors.

Erik's Ranch/Dry Creek rates include lodging and two Erik’s Montana Adventures tours (Chimney Rock and Antelope Butte Hikes). Other Erik’s Montana Adventures tours are available for an additional cost: Trail rides, including a pony lead for younger riders and horse meet and greet offered year-round; Fly Fishing; Whitewater Rafting; Camel Meet and Greet; and a Sundown Grizzly Excursion. Erik's is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, families, and everyone in between. The Cargill-Earl Guesthouse offers 360-degree views of the mountains. Contemporary living—off the grid with no sacrifices. Two bedrooms, one with a King bed and the other a Queen, two private baths, a living area with a full size sofa bed and fully furnished kitchen, and an outdoor grill perfect for cookouts. Plush towels. Solar heat. Complete privacy in a place that will take your breath away.

Other things to note
At Erik's Ranch, we cater to outdoor enthusiasts, skiers, hikers, stargazers and everyone in between with endless recreational activities available to you during your stay.

There are tours led by young adults with autism, nearby skiing at Bridger Bowl, Yellowstone National Park, hiking near Gallatin National Forest, world-class trophy fishing in the Yellowstone River, Chico Hot Springs, shoping and dining in old Western town Livingston, and scuba diving or ice climbing at Hyalite Canyon!

Founder and CEO, Erik's Ranch, Inc. Kathryn Nordberg has held executive positions with organizations in technology, packaged goods and health care. She is recognized for innovative solutions to long-standing operational challenges and her ability to create positive outcomes for long-term projects with multimillion-dollar budgets. She has leadership experience in strategic and organizational planning, management, marketing, partnership development and alliances, sales, new product development and communications. Nordberg also has an adult son with autism. She became the founding chairperson of Families for Early Autism Treatment in 1995 when no funding or early intervention programs were available in Minnesota. In 1997, she participated in bringing behavioral therapist Ivar Lovaas to Minnesota to share his Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for early intervention with children with autism. She also challenged the Minneapolis public school system status quo, creating awareness about the lack of efficacy of its program for children with autism, laying the groundwork for the assistance available for families desiring ABA. With Nordberg’s experience as the foundation for Erik’s Retreat, we understand the need for individual choices and how to support that. Through professionally trained staff, careful planning and communication with residents, members, and families, and the employment of innovation in everything we do, we believe that living a life of promise is within everyone’s reach. “I believe that if I can imagine it, we can achieve it.”

During your stay
COVID-19 Response: Just like you, all of us at Erik’s Ranch & Retreats are working hard to keep everyone comfortable and safe. You can rest assured that our houses are cleaned spotlessly after check outs, and that our crews are safely masked and gloved. We are taking every precaution to keep our staff, members, and guests at ease during this uncertain time. Here is what we are doing between stays, as a commitment to our guests comfort:

1. Sanitizing all hard surfaces including handles and floors.

2. All bedding—including comforters cleaned prior to each visit.

3. Will provide you with disinfectant on site so you can design your own comfort.

Our concierge staff is excited to welcome you. Please note that check-in is between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. Unfortunately, if you arrive after this, you will need to find lodging elsewhere for the evening and a refund will not be given.

During your stay, please be highly aware of your surroundings. Montana has a wide range of wildlife, which includes rattle snakes, bear, wolves, big cats, elk, and deer. Do not leave food out or doors open and unattended.

We do not offer housekeeping throughout the stay.

Check-out is by 11:00 a.m. We do not provide refunds for inclement weather and we have a strict no refunds policy during peak season, which is June through September.
