The house is part of a big, old, divided villa overlooking a beautiful bay. The terrace is west facing, so as you sit and relax in the evening you overlook gorgeous sunsets – perhaps with a glass of local wine.
The entrance gate with driveway and parking (up to 4 cars) is exclusively used by guests. The garden and the whole house are a single property, therefore guests may experience a total privacy. From the parking, a few steps bring you down to the garden and to the main entrance of the house which has a huge patio – which is great for outdoor dining and BBQs. The house is conceived in the simplest way to enhance both social activities and privacy, at the same time. A spacious common living and dining room are connected to the comunal kitchen, which at the same time faces the outdoor dining area. From the living room you may access 3 separate bedroom areas; each bedroom is very private. We have recently installed air conditioning in the 2 main bedrooms, therefore our guests will be able to take a nap even if there might be some noise during the day. 2 bedrooms are at the same level of the house and 1 is upstairs, where you will find an extra bed in the hallway leading to the bathroom. All 3 bedrooms have their own separate fully equipped bathrooms.
A free access beach is 2 min walking distance from the house, across the road (easy to reach with children as well). If you choose to walk a little longer, approx. 10 min, you will end up in a smaller bay where, once upon a time. the Roman Emperor Tiberio’s villa stood. The most remarkable feature of this cute beach is the underwater roman wall, used in ancient times to create a huge pool where wild fish would be cultured and harvested for the emperor and his guests!
Porto Santo Stefano is a lively small port village and is only few km far from the house. You can choose to walk there using old train tunnels running along the coast, or go by bus which only takes about 10 mins or it’s a quick drive.
We can help you arrange to rent a small boat. It’s the best way to explore the beautiful coastline of Monte Argentario. There is also a 1 hour ferry to the outer islands, Giglio and Giannutri, considered to be ‘the pearls of the Tyrrenian sea’ and part of the national park of the Tuscan islands (parco nazionale dell’arcipelago toscano).
For guests who like hiking, we can tell you about suggest several mountain paths which will challenge your uphill resistence and will surprise you with breathtaking views of the entire coast and islands landscape, reaching as far out as Corsica and Elba islands on very bright days.
Southern Tuscany offers numerous day trips to old inland villages too such as Capalbio, Pitigliano, towns such as Siena or even Rome are not too far away; there are vineyards and olive groves and farmlands and breathtaking landscapes everywhere you look. You will be enchanted by the countryside colours with their seasonal changes. Everywhere you will taste excellent local products and wines, not to mention our local olive oil, freshly pressed. It’s worth a visit even in the winter between October and December!
You will find basic breakfast grocery in the kitchen. There is a dishwasher and a washing machine that can be used. Please store dishes back in the closet after you have washed them and read instructions if you need to use the washing machine.
Please use hot water in the shower as needed but remember that water is a valuable item in this area and it should be conserved as much as possible. You will find bed sheets and towels in each room. If you cannot wash them before you leave, you may be asked to leave small money for your laundry. In general we ask 5 euro for a complete set of bed sheets and towels.
Free wifi internet in porto Santo Stefano, 2km from the house. All the house area has weak cellular phone signal (Omnitel and Tim good coverage, 3 very weak)
The whole area is not covered by tv antenna signal, but we recently have installed a parabolic antenna and now it is possible to watch foreign channels as well.
