Step back to the 70's with this time capsule room: beautiful green shag carpet, wooden paneling and retro lamps. Built in dresser and large closet for storage. Quiet space in the basement with new carpet and lots of couches for lounging.
THE VIBE: Homey! You'll fit right in wither you want to keep to yourself or hang out with other guests. This room really does have some funky style. Comfy Queen bed- because lets face it- thats the most important part! Swanky green pleather chair and vintage lamps add some 70's charm. In addition, you have access to the rest of the downstairs lounge areas which are shared with one other guest. Complimentary towels and any toiletries you may have forgotten. Laundry service is available for $5 per load.
Make this your home! Kitchen, porch, back patio and living room are all shareable spaces. Back hallway and my bedroom are off limits. Other then that you have full access to the kitchen and anything you need (within reason). Im happy to share spices, oil, milk, coffee, and tea, along with most condiments if I have them. Just ask!

Interaction with Guests
I do live here as well, but don't always get the chance to meet all my guests. I want you to feel comfortable to come and go as you please, so I have a key set up outside that allows you to arrive whenever is convenient for you! Late check-ins are absolutely fine! I am always available by phone or text if you don't see me right away. I love getting to know my guests and they are always welcome to come hang out in the kitchen if Im up making breakfast or having coffee.
TO DO: Burien is less then a mile south and full of great restaurants, bars, coffee shops, a small theatre, and a local brewery. Close distance to many waterfront parks and hiking trails! Seattle is a short drive north: Ask me about my favorite restaurants, bars, clubs, or other activities which include: art walks, PNW hikes, or tours.
Thai food is just across the street and has rave reviews. There is also a really old Chinese place also across the street that has been there forever and is like a 1980's time capsule. Highly recommend both these places within walking distance.
My home is situated in a quiet residential town of Burien, just 8 mn from the airport and 15 mn from downtown Seattle. Bus stops to downtown Seattle are just outside on the main street and if you have your own car, you can either park in one of my three spots near the back entrance or just off of 134th st. The transit center is 15mn walk away, although buses go by my house regularly. The light-rail is also a good option- with a station about 8mn drive away, you can leave your car and head into the city, vehicle free.
Other Things to Note
This is a people friendly home- regardless of your race, Sexual identity or religion- you will be welcome here. This is also an animal friendly home- I have three dogs, two cats and one turtle. The house has wooden floors through out but the downstairs is carpeted. Please don't let the animals downstairs as I would like to keep these rooms pet-free for any allergy issues.
The dogs do bark at newbies, but are friendly. Its good to note that they warm up quicker if you ignore them first and let them greet you on their own terms. The small black dog, Jack is 13 years old and prefers not to be petted. He gets anxious if people reach for him.
Check the directions so you don't get lost! There is another house with my same house number just one block away on 1st Ave SW, while my home is on 1st Ave S.
Welcome! Im thrilled that you will be staying with me! Here are a few guidelines to make both our experiences better.
No smoking in the house or attached porch. If you must smoke, you are welcome to do so outside the fence by the garages or in the covered patio. Please be courteous and throw all butts away.
Please clean up after yourself. If the dishwasher is full, please rinse your dishes and set them neatly in the sink.
Recycling: I have two cans clearly labeled for trash and recycling, as well as a compost that sits on the counter by the sink. Please use them as much as possible to help me cut down on waste.
Doors and Gates. When you enter the back gate, please check and make sure the gate is securely fastened. My backyard is completely fenced in so that my dogs feel safe and I can let them out without worrying about them escaping.
Had a very pleasant stay in Bethany's ArtDeco Room. Bethany is warm and personable, the bed and room were comfortable, she was always quick to answer any questions, the place was easy to find (with her specific directions), and there was no problems with my odd hours (e.g. getting in at 4:30 a.m.). I hope her place is available the next time I come to Seattle: highly recommended!
Bethany and company were great! They were friendly and hospitable all around. The three dogs (henceforth referred to as Small, Medium, and Large) have a culture all their own. Large is by far the friendliest, and she will love you forever once you scratch under her collar. Medium is a bit of an old codger, he's nice but can be snippy, so just respect his distance and pace. Small barks and shakes, except when she doesn't. They all were a bit nervous around me, and maybe my experiences won't translate to yours, but clearly, all of these dogs were devoutly loyal to their home. Oh, and there's also a couple of cats who do cat-like things, and the fish and turtle who have their own dynamic.
Overall, it was a nice visit. I stayed in both the ArtDeco and UrbanSafari rooms, and both were very nice. Thanks again, Bethany!
Just a quick stay but a pleasant one! Bethany was very kind and welcoming and the room was just what we needed for our quick stopover in Seattle. Close to the airport too!
Bethany's place was so warm and friendly! The moment we entered, it was a homey feel. Probably the hardest part was just getting her place, but Bethany was on the phone with us the entire time to make sure we got there, which we very much appreciated! The entire trip, she was super accomadating, making sure we had whatever we needed, from towels to plugs. The room was big enough and there was a ton of dresser and closet space to store things. The bathroom was super convenient as well and she even had shampoo/conditioner or whatever you might have forgotten for your use. We were able to unpack, get comfortable and go in and out as we please. Her dogs and cats were super adorable and friendly, too! Overall, Bethany was awesome. She was easy to talk to, gave us great recommendations and was super open to hearing about our day and what we did. She definitely added to the already great and friendly vibe we got from Seattle and made us want to go visit again! I would definitely recommend her place to anyone traveling to Seattle!
Bethany is a great host! She replies quickly and is super nice and helpful. Her house is Awesome! The layout is so unique, and amazingly cozy. My room was comfortable, and the bathrooms are the coolest! Her pets are so adorable and sweet. If I ever travel to Seattle again, I'm definitely staying with Bethany! Recommend 100%
We had such a great time. Bethany made our experience one to never forget. The place is funky and fun. Our bed was super comfy, and I loved the rug and all the art. Definitely worth it. :)
Bethany welcomed me and showed me around the house, even though I got into Seattle after 11pm. The room was cute and cozy and perfect for a one night stay. Even though there was another guest on the downstairs level, the space was quiet and peaceful. I would definitely recommend staying!

When I was a little girl, I fell in love with the "Beef- its whats for dinner!" commercial. Friends were always welcome- there was always enough food, and a place to sleep. You belonged. This is how I live my life today. My guests are my passion. Strangers are always welcome- and there will always be enough food. If you need something you have only to ask. What a great experience it has been opening my home to so many wonderful people through Airbnb. I hope you will be the next one. One of the best highlights of hosting, is coming home to find guests cooking and making themselves at home in my kitchen. Now, because of all the wonderful people that find me through Airbnb, this actually happens quite often. My idea of spontaneous guests always being welcome, comes from growing up in a big family in the country- where neighbors and travelers were always welcome. I wanted my home to embody that same openness and lifestyle. I host 3-4 travelers at a time, and the house is always full of great energy. I like to keep things simple. What you see is what you get. I live here with my three dogs and they keep the world in balance for me. I also have two cats, but I find that having a 2400 sq foot home with two levels, gives everyone the space they need. The floors can get dirty sometimes- its not perfect- but it is a home. And it will be your home as long as you stay. I am accepting of all people and hope you will be too.
