This room really does have some funky style. Comfy Queen bed- because lets face it- thats the most important part! Swanky green pleather chair and vintage lamps add some 70's charm. In addition, you have access to the rest of the downstairs lounge areas which are shared with one other guest. Complimentary towels and any toiletries you may have forgotten. Laundry service is available for $5 per load.
You will be given a key to the back sliding glass door when you arrive. Please return this when you check out. The bedroom door locks from the inside, not the outside, but I have never had an issue with security within my home.
Please make yourself at home! Kitchen, porch, back patio and living room are all shareable spaces. You have full access to the kitchen and anything you need (within reason). Im happy to share spices, oil, milk, coffee, and tea, along with most condiments if I have them. Just ask!

Bottled water in the guest fridge.
Interaction with Guests
I do live here as well, but don't always get the chance to meet all my guests. I want you to feel comfortable to come and go as you please, so I have a key set up outside that allows you to arrive whenever is convenient for you! Late check-ins are absolutely fine! I am always available by phone or text if you don't see me right away. I love getting to know my guests and they are always welcome to come hang out in the kitchen if Im up making breakfast or having coffee.
Most people stay with me because of my proximity to the airport, and have found my location very convenient for early flights out. I live just south of downtown Seattle in a suburb called Burien, which also has its own little downtown and is walkable from my house. It has a farmers market every Thursday and lots of little restaurants and bars. There is also a movie theater that plays a different movie each week. There are great parks in the area as well and Im not far from the waterfront. Public transit is also very convenient- bus stop just outside my place- the 131 will take you all the way into the city without needing to make any transfers. Safe and quiet neighborhood adds to the quality of this location.
Thai food is just across the street and has rave reviews. There is also a really old Chinese place also across the street that has been there forever and is like a 1980's time capsule. Highly recommend both these places within walking distance.
You can catch the 131 bus to downtown Seattle just across the street from my house. Stay on this bus all the way to Pikes Place Market. It turns into bus 26, which you can catch on your way back- or any bus that is going to the Burien Transit Center. (131, 132, 120, 121). If you have your own car- there is always free parking available. I have three designated guests parking spots in my back driveway - first come first serve. Parking also available on 134th st SW. I offer shuttle service to and from the airport for $10 each way. Transport from King Street Station or the ferry docks for $20. When Im not available to drive, Yellow Cab taxi service is very reliable for this area and can be scheduled in advance.
Other Things to Note
This is a people friendly home- regardless of your race, Sexual identity or religion- you will be welcome here. This is also an animal friendly home- I have three dogs, two cats and one turtle. The house has wooden floors through out but the downstairs is carpeted. Please don't let the animals downstairs as I would like to keep these rooms pet-free for any allergy issues.
The dogs do bark at newbies, but are friendly. Its good to note that they warm up quicker if you ignore them first and let them greet you on their own terms. The small black dog, Jack is 13 years old and prefers not to be petted. He gets anxious if people reach for him.
Check the directions so you don't get lost! There is another house with my same house number just one block away on 1st Ave SW, while my home is on 1st Ave S.
Welcome! Im thrilled that you will be staying with me! Here are a few guidelines to make both our experiences better.
No smoking in the house or attached porch. If you must smoke, you are welcome to do so outside the fence by the garages or in the covered patio. Please be courteous and throw all butts away.
Please clean up after yourself. If the dishwasher is full, please rinse your dishes and set them neatly in the sink.
Recycling: I have two cans clearly labeled for trash and recycling, as well as a compost that sits on the counter by the sink. Please use them as much as possible to help me cut down on waste.
Doors and Gates. When you enter the back gate, please check and make sure the gate is securely fastened. My backyard is completely fenced in so that my dogs feel safe and I can let them out without worrying about them escaping.
About the Host, Bethany
When I was a little girl, I fell in love with the "Beef- its whats for dinner!" commercial. Friends were always welcome- there was always enough food, and a place to sleep. You belonged. This is how I live my life today. My guests are my passion. Strangers are always welcome- and there will always be enough food. If you need something you have only to ask. What a great experience it has been opening my home to so many wonderful people through Airbnb. I hope you will be the next one. One of the best highlights of hosting, is coming home to find guests cooking and making themselves at home in my kitchen. Now, because of all the wonderful people that find me through Airbnb, this actually happens quite often. My idea of spontaneous guests always being welcome, comes from growing up in a big family in the country- where neighbors and travelers were always welcome. I wanted my home to embody that same openness and lifestyle. I host 3-4 travelers at a time, and the house is always full of great energy. I like to keep things simple. What you see is what you get. I live here with my three dogs and they keep the world in balance for me. I also have two cats, but I find that having a 2400 sq foot home with two levels, gives everyone the space they need. The floors can get dirty sometimes- its not perfect- but it is a home. And it will be your home as long as you stay. I am accepting of all people and hope you will be too.
