Interaction with Guests
We love to meet our guests and we will give the keys upon arrival. Of course you can ask all the questions you may have regarding your stay in our house and in Haarlem. During your stay we will be available for questions and tips.
When we are traveling ourselves a good friend will welcome you in our home. She is also a local and can answer all of your questions and is very helpful.
Welcome to our nice and comfortable house in the middle of the old Haarlem center! Within minutes you are in one of the great places that Haarlem has to offer! The neighborhood is cozy, authentic and has a friendly atmosphere. The many restaurants and shops will give you a real town feel.
Haarlem is a lovely city, with lots and lots to do. There are many nice restaurants and bars, for instance the Jopenkerk with the famous local beer which is located at the end of the street (approx. 2 min. walk). The supermarket, cinema and other shops are available with just a 3 minutes walk.
Haarlem is an amazing place to shop, it has won the award for Best Shopping City in the Netherlands and the Kleine Houtstraat has been Best Shopping street two years in a row. A few beautiful museums like Teylers are definitely worth your visit too.
The beach is very nearby and easy to go to with public transport. Amsterdam and Schiphol Airport are approximately 15 to 20 minutes drive by car.
There are a few (paid) parking garages in the neighborhood while free parking is available within a 15 minute walk.
The house is located just a few minutes from most of the buses, very convenient!
Other Things to Note
Most important of all ... enjoy your stay :-)
- It is a no smoking house, there is a nice bench in the little courtyard where you can enjoy your cigarette and the neighborhood.
- Pets are not allowed
- We have very nice neighbors and want them to still like us too :)
We loved every moment of our stay at Maarten's home in Haarlem. Monique greeted us with a smile and a glass of wine.the house is delightfully appointed with everything you need for a great holiday. Maarten promptly answered any questions we had and made us feel at home. I would recommend this home to anyone wanting to visit Haarlem. It was spotlessly clean and perfectly located in Haarlem.
Maarten house is spacious and clean, he is a good host, he make sure we have a pleasant stay in his house with all well written instruction for us to follow. We like the place, every things is very convenient, except is quite a distance to walk from his house to main station. Haalem is a nice town, and is easy and fast to travel to Amsterdam by train. A good place to stay.
The place was beautiful and quaint. Great location to explore Amsterdam and the beach. Maarten was a great and communicable host.
Monique and Maarten were perfect hosts. Everything (but the weather ;-)) was as we hoped to be. We will come back again and can recommend this cosy house to everybody.
Danke an Marten!
Kortom super!
About the Host, Maarten
Hmmmmm...... where to start :-).
Let's start with facts I can't live without: 1. Laughter 2. Music 3. Good food and wine (I know that's two, but I hate to break them up) 4. Connection with myself and others 5. Travel 6. Family and friends.
Books - Lonely Planets :-)
Movies - The best non Hollywood movies
Music - Almost all
Food - Almost all
I have many favorite travel destinations, but am more excited about the places I have yet to see. As a Host, you will find that I am polite, accommodating, and engaging. I would strive to have your experience be filled with joy, laughter, and good memories. As a guest, I am also polite, and being prone to being of service, I am still probably accommodating! My style of travel is usually no definite itinerary and "let's see where this takes us" detours.
My life motto: Keep Learning and Exploring
