Looking for a vacation rental? A place to stay while visiting family? Or, traveling for work and tired of hotel living? We invite you to enjoy our beautiful historic home. It's a 2 bedroom, 2 bath with ootles of charm. Built in 1929, the home is tucked away in one of Birmingham's first neighborhoods, Glen Iris, located five minutes from UAB, Southside, and Downtown Birmingham.
This is our primary residence, not a vacation property, so it has the cozy, warm, lived-in feel of a home well loved.
Features of the home include a relaxing sunroom with large windows, an extra large wooden deck with a hammock and BBQ grill surrounded by hundred year old trees, a backyard patio hideaway, fully renovated bathrooms and kitchen. It has two bedrooms, one with king size bed (featuring a tempur-pedic mattress), the second with a double bed. The main bathroom is located upstairs between the two bedrooms. There is another fully renovated bath with large shower - that we affectionately call "The Spa" - located in the basement. Please note, you will need to go through the laundry room to get to the second bathroom - but once you get there it's an oasis.
There's a formal dining room as well as a delightful eat-in breakfast nook (check out the great formica table!) The spacious living room features a gas fireplace, oversized chairs for relaxing, and flat screen TV with HD cable. The house has wireless access. There is a large driveway with carport.
If you love homes with historic charm, our house is for you. If you prefer everything to be brand-new, this 1929 Tudor probably isn't for you. It's best suited for those of us who love history, character, and comfort.
The Glen Iris neighborhood is one of Birmingham's best kept secrets. Located minutes from all the city's best restaurants, nightspots, and UAB, it still maintains a small neighborhood feel. There are sidewalks and two parks within walking distance. The Vulcan Trail is a one-mile running/walking path located just a .5 mile walk from the home. In the other direction, also a .5 mile walk is George Ward Park, a green oasis within the city.
We are happy to help you plan a visit to Birmingham with tips on what to experience, restaurants you have to try, arts and music events happening in the area, and people you'll enjoy meeting.
Please let us know if you have any questions. We love Birmingham and have put much love and attention into this home. We look forward to sharing it with you!
Guests have access to the entire house, outside deck, yard, and patio.

this house is a gem, beautifully furnished, fantastic hammock on the outside patio/deck, lots of character, we had a great time staying there.
Jessica was prompt to welcome us before our trip even began so that accessing the house was a breeze. The house was such a pleasure to stay in with its fireplace, comfortable couches and inviting back porch. This was the perfect find for our stay in Birmingham.
Great location. Quick ride thru tree-lined neighborhood to UAB. And 2 minutes to I-65 on ramps. Esp good house when you need more than one bedroom, bathroom, full kitchen, laundry. Jessica was always prompt to reply and a good communicator.
Jessica was very helpful to us and a kind host. She left a book with the items we needed to know and it was a good overview of what to expect. The home was spacious and open, with a great sun room and deck. It was great for a stay with four people.
It is located a bit outside Birmingham, but about 10 minutes from anything we wanted to see.
You'd be hard pressed to find a more gracious, inviting, and accommodating host than Jessica and her husband. From the very start, Jessica made sure we had everything we needed. The house was overflowing with charm and character. The tree shaded deck created the feeling of being in an lush oasis in the middle of a vibrant neighborhood. It will be hard to find a better host or a better house.
Jessica was very easy to work with and very accommodating. We had a problem getting cell service and internet and they went out and bought a wifi extender for us. The 2nd bathroom is in the basement as stated and the staircase is narrow, fyi. We didn't feel that it would easily work for guests to stay with us because of that and because it was not very inviting in the basement area.
We were in Birmingham post kidney transplant, and having Jessica and Matt's place saved us from having to eat every meal out and gave us space to relax and heal. They were great hosts and we are grateful to them.
Jessica was an amazing host! Everything was perfect at her home--super cozy and charming plus it was near all the great restaurants and attractions in Birmingham. She could not have been nicer and more accommodating and gave us advice on what to do and where to go that really made our visit even better. We'd definitely love to stay there again!
