I live fulltime in Brooklyn, New York where I run a huge loft guest house. It's my escape from New York. However when I'm not here it can be your escape from... (fill in your City here).
Located in the most exclusive neighborhood in Old San Juan the terrace over looks the Bahia bay and the Governor's Mansion.
Parking and traffic in Old San Juan is challenging to say the least. I suggest forgoing car rental when staying here. Take a cab from the airport for $25 and walk the old city. The Sheraton Hotel has a Hertz car rental desk for day/ road trips around the island.
- Be considerate of the neighbors. No Parties Please
- NO smoking in the house - Terrace only please
Rent this condo if you want amazing views, great location and an incredible roof terrace! Comfortable beds, AC and ceiling fans add to the overall package. Bathroom is small but clean and functional. Kitchen and it's amenities are basic and there is no oven (typical for San Juan). Laundry is on the building's main floor (4 flights down) but only a dollar and free dryer so it was not a problem at all. Eva was very accommodating for our early arrival and late departure and available if we had needed anything. The location of the condo has lots of great restaurants nearby - Rosa de Triana for tapas was excellent! Hacienda Isabel for gourmet coffee was great - the owner ground the coffee a bit coarser to work with the French press - fantastic to have cafe con leche while watching the cruise ships arrive in port. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the condo and would highly recommend it!
It was all we hoped for - incredible location, the view and very warm and helpful hostess.
We had the pleasure of staying for 4 nights in this wonderful apt. The location is unbeatable and very safe. You can walk to anywhere in Old San Juan in less than 10 minutes.
The pictures shown in the listing are true to the actual place. The view from the balcony is stunning, which is really the main feature of this apt. We spent mornings and late evenings in the balcony, just enjoying the breeze and peace of the neighborhood....it was everything you could expect for a relaxing outdoor space on vacation.
We were there during a very hot weekend, and while the living room is limited to fans, the rooms were equipped with AC's that worked great!
Eva (Shell's mother) was a wonderful host, with many useful tips as first-timers in the island. I would without a doubt recommend this spot to anyone who is considering it.
Nearby spots we liked: Caficultura (little Bohemian coffee shop with great brunch, St. Germaine Mezzanine (great for drinks! Their Moscow Mule and Mojito were great and their small plates were delicious), Cafe Manolin (a diner/cafe for authentic Puerto Rican Cuisine), and Cueva del Mar had awesome fish tacos! Check out San Sebastian St. for local bar scene, we really liked one called La Factoria.
It was a perfect location in old San Juan. I would for sure return. The view is amazing. It was my boyfriend and I so it was perfect size for us. We loved it.
Apartment exactly as described. Clean, comfortable, great neighborhood, fantastic views. Eva was so nice and steered us toward some great restaurants (Wafflera, Marmalade.) Easy, easy, easy and would definitely recommend it and will stay again if we come back to San Juan. Thanks for a great stay!
This place was amazing; by far the highlight of our trip! My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and were blown away by the incredible view. The pictures really don't even do it justice. The unit is on the third story and has an awesome balcony overlooking the bay. The views are, undoubtedly, far superior to the expensive hotel around the corner. It was a great spot to enjoy a coffee in the morning or watch the sun going down at night. The governor's mansion is right next door, as further evidence that the location is great. Check-in and check-out were a breeze, and we were personally welcomed to the apartment with a great orientation to the area and excellent tips on activities to partake in. I can't recommend any more highly.
Shell's place in Old San Juan is AMAZING! My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary and we were so pleased that we chose to stay here instead of a resort. Her mother Eva was so accommodating and helpful. She allowed us to check in early as our flight got in at 9:30 am and let us check out late as our departure flight was a bit later in the afternoon. She greeted us at the apartment and gave us many great local recommendations and advice about the area, places to eat, and things to do. Our favorite was going to Happy Hour at The Mezzanine at St. Germain; beautiful fresh cocktails and tapas on par with NYC for super cheap! The apartment itself is spacious and quaint, the terrace is incredible with a sweeping view of the Governor's mansion and Old San Juan Bay. We are already recommending this gem to our friends who want a lovely relaxing retreat.

As a textile and design junkie with a knack for repurposing old furniture and a passion for sharing resources and living communally, this loft seemed the perfect space to call home. In the nearly five years I’ve been living here, this space has allowed me to play host to many amazing, interesting, loving and generous people from around the world. Because of its size and layout it has granted me many opportunities to host creative and community events. I like to cook, love to eat and love love love a great dinner party or an all day marathon Sunday brunch (which have become quite popular around here). Opening my loft to be shared with travelers who become friends has been the most positively life altering decision I’ve ever made. With each ephemeral shared experience my faith in the positive power of living in/ with community is exponentially affirmed. As characters in a great novel, each guest who stays seems to unfold a little more of the story. I cannot ask for a better life.
