Paziols is a beautiful village seated in the very heart of southern France's wine making valleys, on the border between Corbiere and Rousillon. It's people are friendly and accommodating, coming from 20 nationalities. The majority are Catalan and French, and the community also has a large community of english-speaking residents who you'll be sure to make fast friends with!
High quality, delicious and very reasonably priced wine flows freely in the harvest season. Parties and festivals light the valley and surrounding villages frequently and especially in July and August when the 15 nearest have their annual Fetes, 3 day carnivals, many with all night long live dance music. Many delightful swimming locations can be found around the local area, fed by cold mineral water springs; wonderful to cool off on a hot day. Some even flow with revitalising spring water. Restaurants thrive with fantastic cuisine and lively music, particularly the local pub/restaurant The Perriere, which is situated less than 2 miles away.
For people seeking historical intrigue, Paziols is very close to several large archeological sites, including some spectacular Cathar fortresses. Nearby Tautavel is famously host to the discovery of some of the earliest European human remains,450,000 years old, with a fascinating museum dedicated to prehistoric man.
Also worth remembering is that Paziols is well situated for both beach (1 hours drive) and skiing depending on the season. Being around an hour's drive from such lovely beach resorts as Lecauté Leucate, La Franqui and Le Les Barcarés, and around three hours from such high quality ski resorts as Font Romeu and Andora, it can be a perfect "staging area" for an adventurous soul's exploration of southern France.
Paziols has no bus routes or nearby train stations, and it's nearest major city is Perpignan. Perpignan does have a major airport and car hire however. Parking is plentiful in the streets near the Mayor's House and throughout the village. Avoid parking in front of big doors, tractors go to work at 5am!
The route from Perpignan Airport to Paziols is around twenty-five miles through winding country mountain roads, and we can provide a taxi service to assist. The local rate for the trip is fifty euros.
