This is your chance to stay in the area close to the two Important Cultural Properties! The entire house, a traditional Japanese-style-house with a courtyard located in the old town district, will be lent to a single group.
Kibun no Niwa is in the Traditional Buildings Preservation Area and it is a beautiful Japanese-style-house that has been built more than 100 years ago.
The house is in the same street as the two Important Cultural Properties, Kusakabe Museum and Yoshijima Heritage House.

The space
Now a seemingly peaceful street with historic houses that have been there over the generations built in Meiji Era, passing through Taisho, Showa until the present, they have been built and treated with the greatest care by skillful carpenters. You can easily imagine the street was once busy with merchants.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
★Within walking distances, we have two other listings, Kusa no Niwa and Ichii no Niwa. Check them, too. It will be fun to experience different types of houses.

▼Kusa no Niwa
This is a villa of Kusakabe Folk Museum that was once a wealthy merchant’s house, a construction more than 100 years old, renovated maintaining its quaint atmosphere.
→Our previous guest has uploaded a film on YouTube. Search for “kusanoniwa” on YouTube and you will be able to get some image of the house.

▼Ichii no Niwa
This is a two-story traditional house that can accommodate up to 9 persons. Easy access to the main tourist attractions such as the morning market and the old town district.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The lattice attached to the window facing the street is a unique feature of Takayama townscape. From the entrance, you will be able to view all the way to the far end, a typical characteristic of historical Japanese architecture. Then from the breeze entering the house and the light streaming into the courtyard, you will feel the coming and going of the four seasons of Takayama.

Our kitchen and dining are finished in the earthen floor style where you can enter without taking your shoes off. Enjoy the café-like space while sitting around a built-in-hearth table.

Since the house is in the Traditional Buildings Preservation Area, fire is strictly prohibited and the hearth on the table cannot be used; however, we hope our guests enjoy the atmosphere of the good old days.

In our tatami room, a Japanese-style room with rush-woven-mats, you will find several rare furniture which are hard to find at modern times such as an antique single-plank table, and a staircase chest, a piece of furniture that works both as a chest and a staircase.

In the soothing atmosphere of the dining room, you will find the attractive, tan-colored sliding doors that enhance the formality of the space.

The furnishings, that have been living the old times up until now together with the people that took good care of them over long generations, will add colors to your special moment in Takayama.

Other things to note
★Notes (Maker sure you read them carefully)

・Fire is strictly prohibited. Please refrain from smoking on the premises including the entrance and courtyard. The house is a wooden architecture and some sliding doors are screened with papers and are extremely burnable. In case we find our guests smoking in the house, we will ask those to leave immediately and will ask to pay a fine of 30,000 yen through Airbnb. This will also include the case when we find cigarette butts on our premises as well as in dust bins. We ask our guests to kindly follow these rules for their own safety as well as our neighbors.

・We would like our guests to understand that the level of insulation and air-tightness of Kibun no Niwa is not very high compared to modern houses for this house was renovated maintaining the taste and atmosphere of old times to preserve the traditional Japanese-style.

・We do not provide TV set, clock or bright lights as we wish our guests to enjoy the architecture reminiscent of life in old times. Getting away from the bustle of everyday life make yourself at home in the quiet and quaint castle town.

・Because the house is in the Traditional Buildings Preservation Area as well as in a quiet residential district, in case you make too much noise or cause inconvenience to the neighbors, we will ask you to leave.

・We will reply to inquiries in Japanese or in English.

・The check-in time is 3 PM, the check-out 11 AM.
*You cannot leave your luggage in the house after check-out.

・Be careful not to leave anything behind for we cannot keep lost & found items and will have to discard them.

・We have pots and pans for simple cooking but there are no seasonings and condiments, nothing more than the listed amenities. Please bring them or get them at the nearby stores.

・As Kibun no Niwa is an old and traditional house, the doorframes and beams are very low. Please be careful not to hit your head when entering or leaving each room.

・We do not allow people other than our guests to enter the house. Surveillance cameras are in operation at the entrance to check the number of people entering the house.

The road in front of the house is Kitayama promenade. As you slowly climb up the slope about ten minutes, you could watch the superb view of the mountains of Norikuradake. Walking in the morning and evening which the mountains glow with orange color is also an exceptionally wonderful scene. Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine performed at the autumn festival is in two-minutes walk from this "grass garden". The views of the four seasons along the Enako river from Miyagawa are beautiful as breathtaking, loved by local people, and carefully protected to keep beautifully.
