About this listing

The space

Casale Le Murelle, an oasis of peace and quietness.

The country house is 2 km far from the small town of Acqualoreto, situated in a strategic position between two famous artistic cities, Todi (20 min by car) and Orvieto (30 min by car)

The property, which dates up to 1800, was the residence of the well-known scenarist and costume designer
Danilo Donati, who across a wise restructuring has returned the country house in a welcoming and charming place to stay, although preserving the original characteristics and the traditional architectonic style.

This is the best place that we have stayed using Airbnb. Everything was fantastic....the house, the swimming pool, the outside spaces and the quiet location. It is really beautiful and very restful. Other people have commented about the 2k 'track' to the house..... Even with our small hire car this was not a problem at all, and infact it provided a shady, tree lined jogging route!! The house is spotlessly clean and is so well equipped with EVERYTHING that you could possibly need. The kitchen is brilliant and Paola kindly left us water, wine, bread, cheese, fruit etc for when we arrived. The house is stepped in history of Italian cinema and is filled with art, but is not at all stuffy or 'museum-like'. There is nothing that we didn't love and will definitely return. Thank you Paola and Bruno for a wonderful holiday.

We simply loved Le Murelle! The house is extremely charming and very spacious - and the view from the porch is magical. We stayed there for almost a month in September and enjoyed relaxing by the pool, cooking in the extremely well equipped kitchen and discovering the area. Todi and Orvieto are beautiful villages. It's quite a long bumpy dirt road to the house, but definitely worth the ride once you get there. We didn't get to meet the hostess Lorenza, but her family living in a house next door took great care of us - very lovely people! We highly recommend this place.

The house was exactly as described and pictures are very accurate. We had a fantastic week getting away from it all in rural seclusion and would recommend it. Lorenza's parents were very welcoming but not intrusive and Lorenza was easy to contact if we needed. Fantastic house and the welcome hamper was really appreciated!

We stayed for a glorious summer of 7 weeks and La Murelle was the holiday if a lifetime! The house is incredible, spacious and so well equipped with everything you would possibly need. The location is sublime, in the hills with absolute serenity yet so close to amazing hill top villages and perfect restaurants in the Umbrian region. Lorenza's parents took incredible care with everything, from maintenance to tips for our stay. They are wonderful at giving you complete privacy but being totally available if you need anything. We were with our 6 month baby and they ensured our stay was comfortable at all times. The pool! A godsend in the heat of the day and cleaned perfectly each morning by Bruno. It is just perfect, with a view back up to the village of Aqualoreto in the distance. Surrounded by fruit trees and lavender, rosemary, sage, other culinary herbs that we used abundantly. We were there in time for the Aqualoreto festa where the sleepy local village truly came to life with a week of eating and drinking, culminating in fireworks - unexpected but welcomed!! This is a perfect getaway, just perfect!

This was our first stay via airbnb and we loved it right away! The house and it's tranquil surroundings, mixed with the hospitality (when you arrive you are welcomed with open arms, a filled fridge and fresh fruits) is unbeatable. We had two amazing weeks and we can't wait to come back. While I'm writing this review, I can't stop looking at the little thumbnail of the beautiful house on my screen - it brings back such good memories of wonderful umbria, la murelle and Bruno and Paula. Grazie a voi et a presto!

I saw the pictures and I fell in love. The house, in person, is even more charming! So spacious, clean and beautiful. I had a peaceful and very enjoyable stay. Yes, you must go over a bumpy gravel roadway to get there but it is worth it. In the small town there is a great restaurant La Cruccola. The woman does not speak English but she sure can cook! Very enjoyable. Lorenza's sister, mother and father were there to greet me and show me around the Maison de Charme. They were very sweet, helpful and kind people. If you need anything just ask! I would return here in a heartbeat and I definitely recommend the place; everything you need is there.

I have seen a lot of vacation homes but this one is absolutely outstanding. Beginning with the house itself (which admittedly requires a bumpy ride to get there): It is full of antiques and has a lot of history: Famous screenwriter Fellini has lived here. There is lots of space, every room has a large fireplace, and the thick stone walls ensure a chilly atmosphere even during summer. The beds are Italian standard (a bit hard maybe). The kitchen is perfectly equipped. Nothing missing there. The view from the terrace is amazing. The place is quiet and besides the neighbors (which gorgeously take care of everything) there is no one around to disturb you. Lots of nature, an impeccable garden, which is watered daily by Bruno. In the evening the air cools down to around 18 degrees Celsius in summer, given the location on a hill. The property features a fantastic pool, which is cleaned daily. There are lots of chairs around to pool for relaxing and unwinding. Once there, you don't wanna leave, even though the surrounding area has lots to offer: Perugia, Orvieto, Lago di Bolsena, Cascata di Marmore, Assisi, etc. Not to mention the great food available in the local restaurants, which typically feature pasta and truffle dishes. The next supermarket is 25 minutes away.
