The Space

A room in a detached bungalow in a hamlet in a beautiful area.

The bungalow used to be the village school, that was since converted into the living area and kitchen. The other rooms were added later. It compromises of 3 bedrooms, and open plan kitchen and living room and a bathroom with bath that would be shared with me. The room in question is a single room with a sofa - an extra bed could be added to it, so it would be ideal for one or two people (and could possibly accomodate three if the third was a child). There is no TV in the house but internet is available throughout.

There's also a very nice wild garden with different species of plants and birds as well as a nice pound with frogs. You are welcome to camp in it if you wish.

The area is of outstanding natural beauty, with a natural park nearby. It is ideal if you like taking long walks, or mountain biking - I have given up my car 3 years ago and now I cycle everywhere. I might have a spare bike you can borrow free of charge. The river is 2 fields away so it is a great location if you like fishing! The area is also great for hunting but you'd need a permission from the land owner to do that.

I have three cats in the house and you're welcome to bring your dog/cat with you. However please make sure they are well behaved as all my neighbours are farmers, so they can't explore much of the land around the house.

There's a pub and a farmhouse kitchen in our hamlet, located 2 minutes walk from the house. The nearest town would be Middleton-in-Teesdale, which is about 3 miles down the road (between 10-30 minutes cycle away, depending on your stamina!). It is a touristic town where you can find grocery shops and other facilities.

Hi there, I am a retired physicist and an active eclipse chaser. I also enjoy mountain biking.
