Gorgeous New Guest House in Sonoma

House - Entire home/apt · Dutch Lane, Penngrove, CA 94951, United States

The Space

Detached guesthouse in the heart of the Wine Country on 2 acres.

Newly remodeled guesthouse. 1bdrm, 1bath with a full kitchen and fenced back yard with large covered patio, for enjoying a BBQ or partaking in some of your new found wine treasures. We also have lots room off street for parking your car, truck, RV or boat. Also, your other gear like bikes or kayaks will be more than safe in your secluded back yard or on your covered patio if it rains.

Our location couldn't be any better, the West side of the Sonoma Mountains is where the locals hang out and wine taste. I've never stopped to count them, but I would guess that there are 150-200 wineries within an hours drive of us. We are 10 minutes to Historic Downtown Petaluma, 25 minutes to Historic Downtown Sonoma and the Sonoma Square, 25-35 minutes to the Russian River, Dry Creek Valley and Alexander Valley wine regions (the best wine tasting this side of the Golden Gate Bridge), 45 minutes to Bodega Bay, 35 minutes to Napa, and 40 minutes to the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco. We're also 35 minutes to Lake Sonoma, (great fishing for Trout or Bass), for a fun day on the lake. Are the Peanuts comic strips your thing? We are 15 minutes from the Charles Schultz Museum with the "Snoopy's Home Ice" skating rink in Santa Rosa. For an amazing day trip, we are just over 2 hours to Mendocino and the Lost Coast. Our proximity to Bodega Bay means warmer winters and cooler summers.

Summer days average in the upper 80's to low 90's, with the nights getting into the low 50's. Winter days run in the upper 50's and low 60's, with nights dipping into the low 30's. It's not unusual to see the local hills with a light dusting of snow for Christmas.

We are located out in the country a bit in the town of Penngrove, and with the exception of one neighbor, we are surrounded by rolling hills and horse pasture on all sides. We are a 10 minute drive to anything you might need be it a drug store, restaurants, tavern, movie theater, super market, pack 'n ship, hardware store, or hospital. If quiet is what you are looking for, you will have found it here. Each afternoon you will be treated to a sun setting into the eucalyptus grove across the field, and an evening sky full of stars. Each morning, you can enjoy a big mug of locally roasted, fresh brewed coffee on your patio, or take a short 10 minute walk down to our local coffee house/cafe, JavAmore' for a wonderful breakfast, either way, it's hard to beat a Sonoma morning.

The guesthouse is non-smoking. You are welcome to smoke on the patio with the sliding door closed.

The kitchen has everything you would need to cook for a family of 4, with granite counter tops and stainless steal appliances.

The bedroom has recessed lighting, and a 6ft closet for all of your vacation gear. It has a queen size bed with night stands and a large dresser if you chose to make it an extended stay.

The bathroom is truly special, with a restored 120yr old claw-foot tub, and an antique dresser turned bath vanity with a custom stone vanity top.

The living room is furnished with a queen size futon/sofa, end tables, coffee table, entertainment center, fire place, flat screen TV with cable, and free Wi Fi.

For your safety, our guesthouse is equipped with smoke detectors, a CO detector and a fire extinguisher.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

  • We stayed at Chuck and Adora's guest house for the entire month of November, 2012 and enjoyed it immensely. The apartment is very comfortable and the full kitchen is well equipped. We were able to cook our Thanksgiving dinner and enjoyed eating on the patio. The Penngrove area is beautiful and we enjoyed the country setting. Chuck is very friendly and helpful. We felt very much at home there and highly recommend this guest house.

  • A BEAUTIFUL guest house in a great area in Petaluma, which is a short distance from Napa, Yountville, and Sonoma. Additionally just a few minutes away from Lagunitas Brewery so a good alternative if you overdose on wine (which we almost did). Completely new finishings in the place and a real good size space where you can unwind after traveling the wine country. Chuck and Adora are very friendly and gracious hosts and were outstanding on giving us recommendations around the area. They were great to chat with and we look forward to our next trip to wine country to stay at their wonderful place and see them again. A true gem and an amazing value compared to any hotel or bed and breakfast in the area. Highly highly recommended!

  • We had a short but great stay at Chuck's guest house. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. Great little outdoor space, comfy bed, extremely clean space. We arrived to drinks and snacks and Chuck was super accommodating and helpful in answering all of our questions! The only thing was that it was a little far off the beaten path- we had to drive a bit to get to the restaurants and wineries. Nothing too far, around 30 mins to downtown Sonoma. Overall it was a great experience!

  • My husband and I stayed at Chuck and Adora's guest house on our recent trip to wine country and we loved staying there. Their place is beautiful, extremely clean, and super comfy. We felt at home there and Chuck and Adora have the guest house furnished with everything we needed. They were also extremely helpful with information and tips about the area and Chuck even washed off our rental car for us before we left. I highly recommend this property if you need a comfy place to stay in Sonoma county.

  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Chuck and Adora's guest house for three nights and it is thanks to their precious suggestions and the practicality of their house that we had an unforgettable weekend.

Chuck welcomed us at our arrival and gave us a brief tour of all rooms. Everything was new and spotless. The kitchen is complete with appliances and cooking tools. We dined at home only once but all we needed was readily available. Among other things, we particularly appreciated the ability to recycle. As a matter of fact, Chuck and Adora's eco-friendly, sustainable choices (all natural snacks, teas and coffee as well as organic bath products) mirror our own and made us feel even more at home. The bathroom has a luxurious clawfoot tub and a very functional ceiling heater that we did switch on in the morning. The bedroom closet is spacious and the bed will sweeten the dreams of every sleeper, including a light one like myself.

Chuck and Adora also enlisted a number of fabulous activities and places to visit during our stay. We ate breakfast at JavAmore Cafe, in Penngrove, once and at Della Fattoria, in Petaluma, twice. Both cafes serve delicious, local food - we highly recommend them. During our first day, we tasted the very best of the tiny boutique winery Anaba, near Sonoma, and stopped by Vella Creamery near Sonoma Plaza to sample their variety of fresh and aged cheeses. On our last day, we drove to Annadel State Park and hiked the breathtaking trails that it offers. We spotted dozens of deers and had a truly unique experience.

In sum, we are already looking forward to returning to Chuck and Adora's house. They are the most attentive hosts as well as exquisite people.

  • We sent our Chef to stay at this guest home while he completed professional development at high end restaurants in the Napa/San Francisco area instead of staying at a depressing motel - and he said staying here made his trip incredibly amazing!!!! He said it was very clean, the hosts were extremely hospitable (i.e. left food for him to eat when he came home late, took him to try new restaurants) basically they just took really good care of him. His stay was so great that I am considering taking a trip for myself just to experience this lovely property!!!

  • Perfect all around. Great place, great hosts and great location to do all that you want to do. Chuck and Adora can give lots of good advice, just need to have a pen handy!

  • Great place to stay at while visiting San Francisco. Less than 40 minutes drive from Fisherman's wharf. Chuck's place looked and felt brand new. Very clean, comfortable and very quiet. We were greeted by his wife Adora and right away were made to feel like at home. We really liked complementary wine and soft drinks. Communication with Adora and Chuck was instantaneous. Overall we had wonderful time while staying there. Will definitely recommend this place to other guests.

  • Thanks to Chuck and Adora for a wonderful stay! The pictures were true to the accomodations. Very modern and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with the little things, from tea bags to plastic bags to olive oil. The fresh fruit provided to us throughout the trip by Chuck - plums, tomatoes and apples - were delicious! Nice yard to hang out in, sipping wine and grilling. Great location, central to many areas like the the coast for oysters and the valleys for wine and all they have to offer was fantastic. Coming back to the guest house was like coming home. We'd definitiely come back!

  • Comfort and convenience are paramount at this sparklingly new guest house. You could eat off the floor, too, it's that immaculate. Chuck and his wife had even thoughtfully provided snacks and things to drink for you to consume upon arrival, in advance of any food shopping you might do.

You must have a car if you stay there, as it isn't within walking distance of the action, and Petaluma is a charming, quirky and fascinating community to explore.

My wife and I enjoy living in the wine country of Northern Calif. It's a great place to live and an even better place to vacation. Sonoma County is way more laid back than Napa, there aren't any crowds at the wineries and usually, the tasting fee is about 1/3 of what you'd pay in Napa. On top of all that, we have better wine on our side of the hills. If you must go to Napa, it'll only take you about half an hour. We have two dogs that we are happy to "loan out to you" while you are here if you need your dog fix. If you find yourself in a market grab a handful of carrots for the horses across the street, they are as gentle as can be. We enjoy traveling both domestic and international. A favorite place during the summer is the Eastern Sierra lakes with their wily Trout. We are definitely foodies and that's easy to do up here in Sonoma. During the summer we usually have a simple organic garden growing and you shouldn't be surprised if you find some fresh vegetables on your patio table when you get back from your day. I own my own company and work from home, so as a host, you will get as much or as little of me as you chose. We are easy going, non-smokers and have been known to spend some wonderful warm summer evenings with our guests on their patio with several bottles of Sonoma grown wine with some local cheese and just picked apples, pears, plums and apricots from our trees.
