The apartment is located at the northern part of Cobble/Boerum Hill, between two great streets - Smith and Court - which are full of coffee shops, restaurants, shops, and bars. An organic grocer, a Trader Joe's, and a wine shop are all two blocks away. A 5 to 10 minute walk to Brooklyn Heights and Brooklyn Bridge Park is a 5-minute walk. Prospect park is a 10 min subway. Closest subway is 2 minutes away.
Close to most subway lines. It's a 2-minute walk to the F/G train and a 5-minute walk to the 2/3/4/5 and A/C/R trains.
Taxis are readily available on Atlantic and Smith streets. Uber generally a 5 minute wait.
By cab: ~20 min from LGA, ~35 min from JFK By public transit: Long Island Railroad from JFK to Atlantic Terminal (~30 mins); the A subway line from JFK to Jay St. (~45 - 60 mins)
Wonderful location: Right in the middle of wonderful dining, shopping, grocery and subway stops. Our favorite coffee, Blue Bottle, is just a block and a half away!
Beautiful QUIET building: There was construction across the street and we didn't even hear it. Secure entry to the building with lovely entry way. Sturdy wide staircase up to the second floor.
Large Apartment: Long narrow entry way in the apartment with plenty of hooks for storing bags and coats. Handy umbrellas available. Long narrow large bathroom with lots of toiletries. Pedestal tub with shower head and curtain. Shower head is located along the long side of the tub making it a little awkward to shower. Small sink without counter space. Although the bathroom has the quirks of an old building it was clean and amenable. Updated kitchen, complete with appliances and cookwares. French press and brewing coffee pot. Large screen TV with Chromecast and DVD player. Couch was smaller than expected but very comfortable. Floor fan and table fan available to cool the apartment. Large windows in living room to let in lots of light. Windows overlook beautifully manicured courtyard. Master bedroom has a comfortable soft bed, desk, dresser and closet. Dimming side lamp next to bed with alarm clock. We had enough room to fit a pack n' play for my 11 month old daughter to sleep in. Second bedroom has a bed and side table. Both bedrooms have doors that close fully, this may not seem like a big deal but separate bedrooms with doors that close is not always easy to find. Window air conditioning unit that worked very well.
Unbelievably responsive host: Justin was very quick to respond to my questions and remedied any mishaps. He was open and friendly. He was just as attentive, if not more than the staff at some of the fancier hotels.
Things to note: This is an older apartment that is minimally decorated and as others have noted, there were some things that needed to be worked out with Justin upon arrival. All up, it was the right location and Justin was willing to make things right so we left feeling glad we stayed.
Allison - thanks so much for such a thoughtful and detailed review. It was a pleasure to host you and your family. I always want my guests to have as good a stay as possible, and thrilled to hear you were glad to have chosen my place. And I was also grateful that you immediately let me know about the small hiccups upon your arrival so I could make sure to address them ASAP. Hope to be able to host you again sometime!
Place worked out great. Justin was very responsive, the apartment was clean and in a good location within Brooklyn. I would definitely stay there again.
The apartment was exactly as described and is located in a very attractive neighborhood. It was very pleasant to deal with Justin and everything went super smoothly. This made our business trip very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it to my colleagues!
We enjoyed our stay in Justins apartment a lot. Justin and his friend Alex were both very responsive and easily accessible.
The apartment was very well located, just minutes from several subway stations, supermarkets, bars and restaurants and looks and as described on this page. We were 6 people, sleeping in the two beds and on an inflatable matress, which could get a little cozy, but we didn't come here to spend the whole day inside.
I can definitely recommend the apartment and Justin as a host!
The apartment is very quiet, well located, spacious, nevertheless the bathroom is a bit aging. It was not clean but Justin partly refunded the cleaning fees and he was really kind and reactive by email.
Justin (and his friend Alex) were very pleasant to deal with. They were very responsive! We encountered one minor issue after checking in, but it was handled very quick and to our liking. The location is excellent and just walking up one short flight of stairs was a plus! His home was quiet with great lighting and a great little Brooklyn charm. We enjoyed our stay!
Location was great. Justin was very available and very friendly and helpful.
