The Space

This vintage house is located in Union City, NJ which is only 4.4 miles away from Times Square. Union City is a HIDDEN TREASURE on the other side of the Lincoln Tunnel and It is only a 12-15 minute bus ride. We are closer to Midtown Manhattan than Brooklyn, The Bronx and most parts of Queens. New York transportation is only 2 blocks away from the house, the private shuttle buses run 24/7 and it costs $2.50 one way. You can enjoy the best of both worlds by staying in this city mansion, enjoy New york all day long and come back to this peaceful and quiet neighborhood which is also very accessible to Hoboken, the official home of the famous Carlo's Bakery of Cake Boss and birth place of Frank Sinatra.. Walking distance to supermarket, liquor store, groceries, bakeries, diner, shops and different ethnic restaurants in Summit Ave and Bergenline Ave. If it is one of those days that you are tired from walking all day in the city, you have the options of ordering food to be delivered from different places like Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Chinese Restaurants, Thai Food Restaurants, Mexican Food, Domino's Pizza, Papa John's Pizza, Sushi & Gourmet Chinese & Japanese Food. etc. You will have the convenience of everything whether it is a short walk or a phone call away. • We had a great time in Ruth's and Henry's house. It is in an ideal location as it is close to Manhattan but not in it which meant saving quite a bit of money while being very close to everything. The house has everything you may need. The only but to it would be the steep stairs to the bedrooms, specially when travelling with a little baby as in our case but we will definitely stay there next time we go to New York.
Thank you to both the owners for their kindness.

  • We (a family of 6) stayed here for 3 days. Nice apartment. Great location to visit Times Square and around. Ruth and Henry are very friendly and great hosts. They did lot more than they signed up for, to make us comfortable. I will definitely recommend this apartment (and any other property Ruth and Henry are renting out).

  • Excellent apartment, clean, not noisy, and Ruth was really responsive.
15-40min. (depends on traffic) to/from Manhattan by bus.
    Highly recommend it.

  • Ruth and Henry were very friendly and extremely helpful with directions and tips on how to use the local transit system. The house was very beautiful and clean and the host provided everything one could need.
I would recommend this place to anyone looking to visit NY and is looking for privacy.

  • We stayed 2 nights in Ruth and Henry's amazing 1st floor apartment.
First of all, we really want to thank Ruth for being such a caring and flexible hostess. After booking for 3, we ended being 4 people after inviting one of our son's friends at the very last minute and informing Ruth just a few hours prior to our arrival. By the time we arrived, she had set up an additional bed, even though I had told the boys could share the futon. And then we ended up being 5 when the friend who came to meet us for the evening couldn't make it back home that night due to car problems.
We had brought some breakfast food only to discover that the kitchen was incredibly well stocked: coffee, tee, hot chocolate (loved that hot beverage machine), bagels, English muffins, bread, fruits, eggs, milk, OJ, butter, jam, peanut butter, you name it!
I had my first night on a memory foam mattress (King size!) and slept like a log!
Bathroom was very clean and well stocked with towels, soap, shampoo, etc.
The location is great, minutes for the NJ Turnpike and from the Lincoln Tunnel into Manhattan. My wife and the boys hopped on a local bus 2 blocks from the house and were in Manhattan's Port Authority bus terminal in just 15 minutes! The house sits on a very nice street and we took a nice walk in the neighborhood, a vibrant, mostly latino community, that very feels like NYC. Safety was not a concern at all.
And then... the pool table! A truly unique feature for this type of rental. The boys couldn't wait to get back to the apartment to play, while we were trying to enjoy our time in the area.
All in all, a great experience, for a competitive price. Only one minor note: with such a nice and well stocked kitchen, we would have enjoyed a small table and chairs to enjoy our breakfast.
We would definitely come back and recommend it to others.
