Fantastic desert mountain views, close to everything!!
**This campsite is farthest from the others, but closest to my home 300 feet away.
I'm on the west side of the property and behind your main view of the mountains to the east. This is a favorite site of repeat guests.

The space
Primitive campsite. Excellent sunrise/sunset views of the national park and the Chisos mountains.

No water/electricity. Picnic table, firepit and clean outhouse.

Guest access
Your assigned campsite, the outhouse, the swing and 15 acres, mostly east towards the Chisos mountains. For your conveince there is a trash dumpster in my driveway. *Please be respectful of other guests and don't enter another campsite without their permission.. Thank you and enjoy.

Other things to note
YOU MUST FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS IN YOUR RESERVATION TO GET HERE. THE MAP ON THE APP IS NOT CAPABLE OF SHOWING THE EXACT LOCATION. THE SIGN WHERE YOU TURN IS IN THE PHOTOS.

Access to the campground is a mile and a half of mild to moderate bumpy uneven roads. 4x4 not required. Plenty of sedans have made it, just go slow. It's not much worse than potholes in Houston, but high clearance is better if you're apprehensive about traveling on dirt roads.

The view of the Chisos mountains is about the best around. Front and center is Emory Peak, the highest point in the national park at 7800 ft. To the left of that is Casa Grande and to the right is the South Rim and Lost Mine trail. Good easy hiking at Indian Head is a mile past my place and has interesting rock formations, native American pictographs, etc. Trail is suitable for hiking, horses and mountain bikes.

Gas station, public showers (8 quarters required), restaurant, laundromat, bank, only 1.5 miles from camp. Grocery store about 3 miles. Entrance to the park is 5 miles. The state park is 20 miles. Terlingua ghostown is 5 miles.

Owner of Mel's Place, a 20 acre property with a unique off grid glamping cabin and primitive campground with amazing views of Big Bend National Park and located just a mile from amenities and five miles from the park. I enjoy camping, outdoor activities, live music, good food, time with friends around a campfire, and doing arts and crafts when nature inspires me. I'm a semi- retired landscape designer and vacation rental host. Having great life experiences is what I believe in and try to be grateful every day for the chance to do so. When friends visit Mel's Place they often say it feels special and that it has a great energy. I agree! I hope my airbnb guests feel the same and treat it as their own. Enjoy!
