Comfortable and private for two guests, Casa Bambu is located in "Bali Rica", a gated 5 acre tropical garden of fruit trees and exotic plants. The scent of ylang ylang trees perfume the air and the view from your porch is of large Guanacaste trees, exotic flowers, and the jungle faced coastal mountain range. The fruit garden provides a bounty of seasonal bananas, starfruit, coconuts, mango, citrus and more.
The accommodations include an extra comfortable queen bed with a pillow top mattress. The full bathroom and kitchen, and spacious screened porch bring all the comforts of home. Casa Bambu is located 3 minutes from the scenic and paved Costa Rican Pacific coastal highway. No 4wd vehicle is necessary to access this property. This retreat will feel remote, but is convenient to activities the area has to offer. Though we encourage guests to rent a vehicle for more freedom for exploring, the village of Ojochal has much to offer and groceries and restaurants can be accessed by foot or by the supplied mountain bikes. Also local taxi or tour bus can be arranged for front door pick-ups for your tour needs.
The village of Ojochal is ideal for lovers of gourmet cuisine with a number of the area's finest restaurants. There's also a popular French bakery nearby with delicious fresh, warm-from-the-oven breads, and a Licorea for those looking for special ingredients to cook at home.
Just 5 minutes away is one of Costa Rica's most beautiful beaches, Playa Ventanas, and the popular surfer's beach in Dominical, is approximately 30 minutes north. The newly built San Buenas Golf Course is 10 minutes south, and many other local attractions are close by; horseback riding, zip lines, ATV tours, off shore fishing and boating, etc.. For book lovers there is the village library within walking distance, or you can ride the two mountain bikes provided for your enjoyment as well.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful setting. Mac & Sharon created a little paradise in paradise! Both are very welcoming hosts giving good advise about the area - if you wish. Quiet and peaceful - not only a great place to relax and enjoy but also a perfect starting point to discover the southern pacific region.
What a fantastic place! My wife and I stayed at Casa Bambu for 5 days and came away with nothing but great things to say. Sharon was a wonderful host. Communication was easy with her in advance of our stay, and she met us when we arrived to welcome us and show us around the property. She even left a basket of homemade bread and fresh fruit from the garden for us!
The Casa Bambu house and the surrounding property are beautiful and peaceful. The house had everything one needs, and we spent most of our time sitting out on the screened porch or next to the dipping pool, listening to the birds and admiring Sharon's gardens. One of our favorite things was to walk around the gardens each morning and pick fresh fruit for smoothies.
To cap it off, Ojochal served as a great home base for exploring the southern pacific coast and beaches of Costa Rica. There were opportunities to snorkel, surf, hike, raft, zip line, and ride horses nearby, and it's a fairly easy hour drive from Manuel Antonio. Additionally, Ojochal had fantastic restaurants that we enjoyed in the evenings. Our favorites were Exotica and Citrus.
The next time we're in Costa Rica, we'll be right back to Casa Bambu. The only thing I'll do differently is rent a car with better shocks. The house is set back about one mile from the main road, and while 4 wheel drive is definitely not necessary, the rocky road makes for a bit of a bumpy ride in.
All in all, it was a fantastic stay!
Our stay at Casa Bambu was nothing short of AMAZING! Sharon was so helpful in giving us local information, the property and house were absolutely breath taking! We will definitely be back on our next adventure. I hope the next guests enjoy the small cooler and big bottle of rum we left for the next lucky people that get to enjoy Sharon's home!
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Bamboo!!!
Sharon and Mac have really put a lot of thought and effort into their property creating a peaceful haven for rest and relaxation. The property is great to walk through and hang out in. We spent our mornings in the yoga/meditation pavilion and explored the area during the day. There is plenty to do including beautiful beaches (Playa Ballena was our favorite), hikes and so much more we didn't get to see. We really enjoyed cooking with all of the delicious spices and fruits that Sharon has grown including lemongrass, galangal, lemon and star fruit trees, and fresh coconuts. Minor, the caretaker, was super helpful and left fresh coconuts on our front steps :)
Casa Bamboo was thoughtfully built and decorated. A perfect space for a couple. The dipping pool and a glass of wine gazing up at the stars was a perfect way to end the day. It is good to know that Casa Bamboo is a little less secluded than the other rental home on the property so if you are looking for more seclusion you should ask about the other home.
Ojochal is a village of expat foodies - there are a number of great restaurants. We didn't get the chance to try because we loved cooking so much but we did get dessert from Exotica. Some of the best dessert we had in Costa Rica. The area also had great local fish spots including the excellent ceviche stands on the side of the road and an affordable place to buy fresh fish. Sharon knows the neighborhood well and has great recommendations.
Sharon also has 3 sweet dogs that were a delight to spend time with! We spent three nights but it was too short. Wish we could have had more time on the property and in the area.
Our time at Casa Bambu was simply spectacular! The property itself is incredible- filled with fresh fruit, wildlife, and lush gardens. Casa Bambu is cozy, warm, and simply perfect for a retreat into nature. We spent many afternoons reading on the comfortable, enclosed porch, simply enjoying the sounds of nature and the lovely smells of the garden. Sharon was an absolutely wonderful host! We would love to return and could not recommend this place more highly.
Casa Bambu was a fantastic place and Sharon a great host. We were welcomed by Sharon with a basket of fruit, eggs and home-made fruit cake. The room is located on a large property in the jungle with three lovely gods guarding the area, a perfect place to fully enjoy Costa Rica!

Originally Mac is from Texas and Sharon is from N.J.. We met on the island of Andros in the Bahamas, and fell in love "underwater" in the blue seas. That was many years ago and we've since traveled the world.
Having lived for some years in Bali Indonesia, we were enchanted by the feel and beauty of the island, and have tried to bring a taste of that to our vacation homes for travelers to enjoy.
Our goal is to provide our traveler's vacation homes, Casa Rica, Casa Roca and Casa Bambu with a taste of the world and the heart of local love.
