About This Listing
Located in a quiet neighbourhood surrounded by red walls, Riad Dar El Kheir is a meticulously restored old Marrakchi house conceived to welcome you in the purest Moroccan tradition.
The six rooms, overlooking the courtyard with its beautiful olive tree, are designed in different themes: life, heart, water, food, land and sky, with all the necessary facilities for your comfort.
Enjoy the exquisite Moroccan specialities in the lounges around the pool, or in the comfortable armchairs of the living room with a fireplace and bar.
For an ultimate sensation of tranquillity, admire the starlit sky of Marrakech while savouring the Moroccan pastries and tea on the terrace of the Riad with Berber banquets, solarium, massage room, bar and shower.
Very pretty Riad, nicely decorated in Moroccan style. We had a double room booked for three nights, but our visit at Chefchouen got extended for one day and we had to cancel one day of our stay - which wasn't a problem. We arrived in the morning and could check in at 1:30pm, but we were able to leave our backpacks at reception. Room wasn't very big, but wasn't small either, had tiny sitting area next to the windows.
Bit awkward interior design in a room as you could watch (from bed) your partner taking a shower!( BTW shower head holder was broken and unable to attach to the wall)
Roof was closed when we arrived due the rainy afternoon and reminded to stay closed for this day even if stopped raining. got opened next day.
Breakfast contained a baguette, pain a chocolate, butter and jam. served with tea/coffee and orange juice. Much appreciate for gluten free option for my partner - eggs instead of bread.
Wi-Fi works only at reception. You are obligated to leave your room key at reception when going out and buzz in when you're coming back. ( which I found also bit awkward when coming back late, you wake up everyone at the Riad).
Be prepared to hear any noise or conversation from your neighbors or reception.
A taxi taken at the airport is fairly cheaper then the one Stephane offered to us - it cost us 60 dirhams ( for two people) to get to Jamma El Fna ( walking distance to the Riad), when Stephane wanted to organize it for 15 euros.
Over roll it was an OK stay but we didn't feel much welcomed as in the other Riads on our trip. We were never offered famous Moroccan tea like other Riads prepare it for us several times a day.
dear aga, you just forget that i have given you a superior room for the same price
i have arranged you for the first night and you have not payed ( but you have booked)
for the taxi, with me you have a driver in a monospace car for you who is coming at the riad
the price that you notiied is by bus, and you must go to the square to wait the shuttle
it's not the same service, i think ...
each time, you have the service epending of the coast, but it's better to not compare
and for the tea, i think i have offered you a lot of things but you don't speak about that (the room, the first day....)
Stephane and his staff were very accommodating during my stay. The riad is beautiful and I didn't have any issues while I was there. He even let me stow my bag at the riad while I traveled to Casablanca for a few days. He did make me feel a bit guilty that I wasn't staying there the night I returned (my flight was departing very early the next morning so I didn't feel the need to book a room when I wasn't sleeping), but it seemed to be out of concern if anything. All in all it is a great place to stay if you want to be in the medina, but not in the middle of the craziness that is Jemaa el Fna.
