The houses and shops are always open; children play in the streets, artisans show their workshops, mountain women display their products (all organic) ...
Chefchaouen’s vibrant Medina has preserved its authenticity and it is becoming one of the most visited not only by foreigners but by the same Moroccans who see it as a jewel of their culture and their idiosyncrasies.

If coming by car we will tell you where to leave it.
If coming by bus it is best you take a petit-taxi to the Medina as the bus station is on the bottom of the valley.
Other Things to Note
Chefchaouen deserves a couple of days stay so you can literally get lost in its unique streets and many shops.
It is also very interesting to devote another day visiting Akchour at the Talassemtane National Park, (only a 45 minute drive) to enjoy nature at its purest state… a lasting memory for children and adults.
For the more adventurous, there are trekking routes across the mountains which can last from 1 to 5 days. Guides and lodges available in situ.

My friend and I were travelling to Chefchaouen from Marrakech and Ricardo was extremely helpful in giving us instructions on how to do so! If it wasn't for him, we might have had a really stressful experience otherwise! Out of all the places we stayed at during our trip to Morocco, Ricardo and Nieves' home was probably our favourite! Ricardo was really helpful in giving us a guide to Chefchaouen through a map he provided and landmarks to visit and has great knowledge regarding the town! Nieves also prepared and provided us with breakfast which was really lovely. I really enjoyed her homemade blueberry and chocolate jam. If we could, we definitely would have extended our stay in Chaouen just so we could stay with Ricardo and Nieves and spent a little more time in the town! I couldn't recommend a better place to live than Nieves and Ricardo's home!
Ricardo and Nieves were incredibly informative and kind hosts. Ricardo met us and walked us up, gave us the landmarks to their place in the medina which can easily be lost in. Nieves gave us a great breakfast. The view is beyond amazing and the evening call to prayer is symphonic magic. We really enjoyed our visit with them!

Sehr empfehlenswert!
Our stay with Richardo and Nieves in Chefchaouen was everything we could have wanted. The house is beautiful, with a sweeping view of the mountains and located conveniently in the heart of the old city. It has fast wifi and Nieves makes incredible breakfasts each morning.
Ricardo was dedicated in answering our (many) questions before the trip and helping us arrange travel from Marrakech to Chefchaouen and then from Chef. to Casablanca. He also walked us through the city and pointed all the landmarks so help acclimate us to the city.
Best of all, Richard and Nieves set us up with the local guide to take us on a hike in the Rif mountains, complete with lunch and an adventure of a beautiful swimming hole. It was a highlight of our entire trip.
We all hope to return to the beautiful blue city and couldn't imagine staying anywhere else!
Nieves and Ricardo were very welcoming. We were made to feel completely at home. Their house is very relaxing and lovely. They had the best tips on where to go for food and interesting things to do in and around Chefchaouen. They also offered up little tricks for getting around in the medina. Listen to them! It'll make your stay there great.
Thank you so much!
Staying with Ricardo and Nieves, is like visiting our aunt and uncle, we feel very relax. And we enjoy the breakfast cooked by Nieves, in the lovely balcony, with the great view of Chefchouen. Wonderfully memory.
Most important, the dear hosts give us many travel tips, which bring a happy journey in Chefchouen and out of Chefchouen, Especially I love the Akchour recommended by Ricardo.

About the Host, Nieves And Ricardo
We are a Spanish couple who, after travelling the world over, decided to live a simple life in this small Moroccan town. For us it is beautiful to be able to enjoy this simplicity and, when we`ve had enough, we jump on a plane and fly to New York, Berlin, Delhi or another crowded place. We have friends all over the world and now, through airbnb, we can meet more people without leaving our home.
Our motto: LIVE AND LET LIVE
“Strolling through Chefchaouen is like being inside a Chagall painting”
