•NOTE, WE DO NOT LIVE AT THIS PROPERTY BUT WE WILL DO WHAT WE CAN TO CHECK YOU IN AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE TO THE TIME YOU WANT. FOR ARRIVAL AFTER BUSINESS HOURS (WEEKENDS, HOLIDAYS OR 18:00-08:00 WEEKDAYS), WE HAVE 2 OPTIONS: 1) ARRANGE OUR DRIVER TO PICK YOU UP FOR A PRICE CHEAPER THAN A TAXI AND HE CAN SHOW YOU INTO THE APARTMENT AND HAND OVER THE KEYS, OR 2) CHARGE A R$50 LATE CHECK IN FEE AND WE CAN HAVE SOMEONE MEET YOU AT THE APARTMENT WITH THE KEYS.
•Ample 2 bedroom apartment in Ondina/Rio Vermelho just a 15 minute walk from the Carnaval circuit and with unobstructed sea view to the horizon over the beautiful swimming (and surfing) beach Praia da Paciência, balcony in 1 bedroom, other bedroom with ensuite, second bathroom (both bathrooms have showers), open kitchen and living room with your own bar (complete with lit up sign from a real Salvador bar) overlooking the beach, broad band internet included. Both bedrooms and living room all enjoy the same view (whale-watching in September)!
•Short walk along beautiful seafront to Carnaval Ondina/Barra circuit (15 mins) and beaches in one direction and the center of bohemian bars and live music of Rio Vermelho in the other direction (10 mins) – a stunning tourist walk that you wake up to every day! A short taxi or bus ride to the old town Pelourinho
•Available for short term and long term rent, just renovated in 2012, 2 air conditioners with remote temp. control, TV, telephone with free local calls, fully furnished and finished with great contemporary design
•Specially installed sound-proof windows in both bedrooms to make sure you get over that jetlag
•Rental direct from Australian-Bahian couple owners (with 5 apartments in Salvador); English, Portuguese and Spanish spoken. Upon booking we provide you with our 10 page guide with plenty of free tips on how to experience the best of Bahian culture, cuisine, music, beaches and surf; eg. live jazz at sunset at the restored customs house overlooking Bahia de Todos os Santos, Salvador’s best ice cream on the old seafront at Ribeira, or watching the ‘gente bonita’ (beautiful people) and tackling a great surf break at a classic beach bar on the northside of the city, and – of course – all the best live music events and festivals for which the city is renowned
•Dave has worked and lived in all countries across Latin American countries and so has plenty of good tips for your Latin America continental adventure (as well as many other countries in Africa and Asia)
•Furnishing: 2 double beds, built in wardrobes, 3 X chairs, 4 bar stool chairs, sofa, wifi, telephone with free local calls, benchtop water filter, full sized fridge (with water filter), microwave with grill, TV, coffee brewer, iron and ironing board, and complete set of cutlery, crockery and utensils, bed sheets, towels.
•Complimentary bottle of wine, fruit bowl and soap.
••Note, 1) FOR ARRIVAL AFTER BUSINESS HOURS (WEEKENDS, HOLIDAYS OR 9PM-6AM WEEKDAYS), WE CAN ARRANGE A RELIABLE DRIVER TO PICK YOU UP FOR A PRICE CHEAPER THAN A TAXI AND HE CAN SHOW YOU INTO THE APARTMENT IF WE ARE NOT AVAILABLE, 2) not very suitable for young children (less than 5 years old), 3) the apartment is at the top/3rd floor of a relatively old building that is undergoing a renovation of the façade (which is taking forever), the building does not have an elevator but compensating for this the block that the apartment is in only has 1 apartment per floor, so the apartment is at the top of the stairwell and has no neighbours above it – uniquely private for a beachfront apartment in Salvador

Note we also have a beach apartment in Arembepe that we rent from time to time if you are interested: a great option for those who want to experience an authentic fishing village on the Bahian coast with the convenience of being easily accessible by taxi from the center of Salvador (45 minutes) or Salvador’s international airport (20 minutes)

Stayed for 2 weeks studying here in salvador and spent a while looking at all the airbnb's in the area before deciding on David's place. Absolutely excellent value! You can walk to the centre of Rio Vermelho, short bus ride away from the city centre or the airport etc. The flat itself was perfect for me and my friend. Good kitchen, breakfast bar to study whilst looking out of the beach, good wifi connection (important to me!), more comfortable bed than I have at home and everything is clean! I loved the art and decoration. Another massive factor is the water filter in the fridge- can't think how much money I saved not having to buy bottled water, and any question I had the host responded to very quickly. I will 100% be back here, thank you David!

Thanks David, the house was fantastic and in a great position. There are too many doors to be opened to access at home but after a few days you get used to.

Great space. Very airy and with a great view to the beach. The place itself is super clean and well decorated. The building doesn't have elevator. Not a problem for my husband and I who only travel with carry-ons.However, my friend and her husband had 3 big suitcases and 2 small ones LOL. It was a drag to bring all those luggage up 3 flights of stairs So, travel light peeps :)

Our stay was great! The communication with David was easy! The apartment is clean and cozy. Perfect air-conditioning in both bedrooms! We enjoyed being in Rio Vermelho a lot. It is a great place with many restaurants, bars and a great beach just in front of the apartment. Since my boyfriend spoke the language, it was no problem to get along. If you only speak English, it is difficult because noone speaks the language. Spanish would have been very helpful, too ;) It was also easy to catch a cab in front of the apartment (buses run there, too). The destroyed facade of the apartment didn't matter to us. We rather thought it made the place even safer. Nobody would expect tourist in the building I guess. So that was good for Salvador as a rather dangerous city. The apartment was very beautiful, so who cares about the facade.... Dave even organized our trip back to the airport. Thanks for that! We recommend visiting the place and if we had heard about Morro de Sao Paulo before, we for sure would have gone there.

I'm from Sydney, Australia, and live in Salvador, Brazil, with my beautiful Bahian wife Angela Paula and our spirited Aussie-Brazilian kids Rafael and little sister Eva. A lawyer and economist by training, I left management consulting over ten years ago, joining a nonprofit organization working across Africa and Latin America, before meeting my wife and settling here in the city that is the perfect expression of African soul and Latin American rhythm, melded during centuries into the truly unique cultura baiana. We love offering free advice to all visitors so that you can enjoy the well-kept secrets of Salvador; eg. live jazz at sunset at the restored customs house overlooking Bahia de Todos os Santos, Salvador’s best ice cream on the old seafront at Ribeira, or watching the ‘gente bonita’ (beautiful people) and tackling a great surf break at a classic beach bar on the northside of the city, and – of course – all the best live music events and festivals for which the city is renowned. Seja bem-vindo!
