Description

The space

Aloha. Our home is a quaint space located on the rising ridge line of Oahu's Ko'olau Mountain range. From this vantage point you will have a spectacular view of the Island of Oahu, the crystal clear waters of paradise and an epic sunset each evening. Make sure to look for the green flash.
The home is minutes from restaurants and shops in Kaimuki, which is a clean, safe and friendly neighborhood in Honolulu. Waikiki, beautiful beaches, warm waters and parks are a couple miles distance. If you like a good walk you can walk it as its downhill all the way. Just keep in mind the walk back is uphill. Plenty of safe street Parking is available for those who have a rental car. We suggest renting as its the quickest and most effective means to tour the island of Oahu. If you do prefer the bus, the bus stop is just around the corner. The home is close enough to Waikiki and the tourist market, but far enough removed for peace and quiet.
**If you are planning to rent to car, in addition to the standard rental companies, you can also check RELAY RIDES. Relay Rides is very similar to AirBnB in that an individual owner rents out his or her extra vehicle. The fees are typically lower than that of a corporate rental company. Do a quick (website hidden) search and you'll easily find Relay Rides.
The bedroom is available in our three bedroom home. Plenty of pantry and refrigerator space if you prefer to cook and eat in. A shared bathroom is available for guests. There is one shower in the home that we all share.
Lastly, let me introduce 'us'. My name is Sean and 'this' is Erin. We are both professionals, I work in higher education at a local university and Erin works in the insurance field. We are both outgoing, social and athletic. We both surf and paddle outrigger canoes. If you are looking to try your luck at surfing we can lead you in the right direction. If you want to do a bit of paddling, we have the right connections. Hikes, we know of many. If you simply want to hit the beach and relax, we know the spots for you. At night we are relaxed; either reading, playing guitar or occasionally watching a netflix on the computer via wifi. We seldom hang around in the house as in paradise there are many other worthwhile things to do. Let see, what else....I am originally from Chicago and have resided in Hawaii for 7 years. Erin is originally from Hawaii (Kailua). Anyway, Erin and I occasionally travel from time to time, so we know what it's like to be in your shoes.

If you want to see some videos we made of one of our Hawaiian adventures check us out on YouTube. You'll need to copy and paste the titles into the your (website hidden) Search window or the YouTube seach window. AirBnB will block all links, phone numbers and e-mails until a reservation is made. Sean and Erin were very helpful and accommodating. Our plane was an hour late so we arrived close to midnight. Erin was there with a smile and helped us to get moved in. The communication was excellent and we were able to stay in the room for the first few days of a 3 week adventure through Hawaii. They were recommended by a friend who stayed with them before. The lived up to the good review my friend gave me of them. Rex Hays

Fantastic view, especially at night. Probably can't get a better view of the Honolulu skyline from land. Absolutely gorgeous. Room is private and clean, well kept and very quiet. It was so convenient to not have to lug extra towels on this trip too! Erin (and Kelly) were the sweetest hosts and very on point with checking in and communication. Definitely recommend.

I was seduced by the picture of the view from the Sean's place - MY MISTAKE! Yes, the view is PHENOMEAL! I met around noon to get a key and was shown the place. Place looked old and ran down - NOT the place that I would have liked to stay in, however as I have already checked out of my hotel and didn’t have time to look for a new place I agreed that I will stay at it. On purpose I stayed away from the place as long as possible thinking that I would be fine spending there just few hours – I was WRONG! At night when I arrived, first thing that seen was a COCKROACH in the bathroom sink!!! Luckily my companion was there to kill it, however I did not return to the bathroom after that. If that wasn’t bad enough there was ANOTHER BUG on my bedroom celling… killed! I was exhausted and needed to sleep however I was afraid to sleep without having the light on which of course made REALLY DIFFICULT to sleep. When I fell asleep I was actually awakened up by some noise of I believe some kind of street raise. The bedroom is tiny and it has a small fan that was in a working order. There is window screen however I am not sure how did a mosquito enter the room???? Whole room looks like is “thrown together” but it functions if one doesn’t have much of the luggage (I left most of my stuff in the car rental). The bed was EXTREMELY comfortable and bedding was heavenly. Reading the label it says that it was “100% recycled plastic” however it felt as smooth and comfy as my 1000 tread cotton bedding. Towels provided were nice and big. Beach towels were also provided even though I didn’t need them it was nice that they were offered. I was brave and went to the bathroom in the morning to take a shower – no bath soap was provided (there was a host’s stuff there BUT nothing designated for a guest) but luckily I always have my own. I left the house as soon as I could as I just DID NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE in that place due to “unclean” feeling. I didn’t meet the little one or the rest of the family, but then again I am usually just looking for the CLEAN, SAFE place to stay. I don’t like to bother the host and like to be independent BUT with the all information that I need. There was NO information about the internet (name of it or the password). DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE DUE TO BUGS/CLEANLINESS !!!!

Response from Sean:
During the time of Suzanna's stay she did not contact us via AirBnB or otherwise regarding any concerns. We were never offered the opportunity to confirm/address and/or resolve any of the matters she discussed. Suzanna took photos of the home and weeks later sent them to us via AirBnb, none of the photos displayed the issues she noted. We are always willing and available to support our guests. Our other reviews definitely indicate positive reviews by hundreds of satisfied guests. We look forward to hosting and supporting travelers as they experience life in Hawaii. Aloha, Erin and Sean

What a special experience. I was about the worst guest I've been on Airbnb. I kept changing my arrival time and I forgot my key and had to wake my host up in the middle of the night for access. She really embodied Hawaiian hospitality. I felt like I was staying at a cousin's house. And their son is a really cool kid - super friendly and smiley. The view is pretty awesome and it's nice to be away from the touristy areas.
