Sarah and Gus' place is great, just like the pictures. Gus met us and showed us around and Sarah kept in touch through the trip to make sure we had everything we needed. They even had a bottle of wine as a welcome and greatly appreciated! Plenty of towels and bedding and great lighting! I need the light.
Perfect central location. We made great use of our bus pass with the various bus lines within steps of the front door. Nice to be so close to Golden Gate park and a plethora of restaurants and cafes.
Only thing was that sound really traveled between the floors and we could hear the people upstairs quite clearly and the front door slams loudly. And I only mention it because they would be going to work and slamming the door at 5:30 in the morning.
Otherwise, the space itself is really clean and comfortable.
Sarah was a great host. She was very nice and attentive. Also the place is very comfortable and great location. I definitely want to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful stay!
Sarah's husband came to meet us and show us around the apartment. It was a nice place to stay in San Francisco and a great value. A little outside downtown but public transit was no problem. The area is quiet and very safe. The grocery store is only a 5 minute walk away!
Sarah was a very communicative and caring host. We never got the chance to meet her, but we were greeted by Gus her husband when we checked in. He was very helpful and gave us good advice. The apartment is located in a very safe neighborhood, conveniently right next to the Golden Gate Park and therefore just minutes away from various museums. I would say the only drawbacks might be the musty smell and that the heaters are located in the bedroom and next to the dinner table, so that it never really gets warm in the living room area. Everything looks as shown in the pictures. They even left us some snacks and wine. I'd definitely recommend them!
Musty smell; we are unsure about this and have never had anyone mention this before. We are thorough cleaners and Gus always has windows (website hidden). heaters we think it gets warm really quickly as the space is small.
Anyhow glad you enjoyed and we strive to make everyone's stay perfect.
My husband and I appreciated being able to use the roomy apartment on 8th street at Golden Gate Park. It was very well located, especially for us. It’s very close to the De Jongh art museum. The Café Muse a couple of doors to the south fit the bill for our breakfast needs. The Safeway is a block away and several convenience stores are on Cabrillo.
The queen size bed and squishy pillows were perfect.
We recommend being careful with the multiple levels in the apartment. We were glad we left lights on at night to show our way around. A nice touch was the bottle of wine.
The reservation was canceled 14 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We had a positive experience for our stay. The apartment and building are not luxurious, but the apartment is exactly as represented: conveniently located, cozy, well appointed, and at a great price-point. Our hosts made every effort to be available, even when their schedules were busy. They were pleasant, kind, and helpful. I highly recommend Sushi Bistro, not too far from the apartment. The convenient Safeway was definitely a plus. Easy to get to all major museums on foot or bus. If you pay cash for your bus fare, be sure to keep your transfer, even if you are not transferring: it is your receipt when the fare-enforcement police board the bus and check tickets! I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment or these gracious hosts.
Thanks guys; we try to stay on top of the garage but our neighbor is a construction guy and it's a constant struggle.
We do hose the front of the building and our cleaner does the hallway before each checkin.
Thanks gain you were great guests that we never met!!
About the Host, Sarah
Hi, I am Sarah (married to Gus with little Fiona ) a native San Franciscan.
When we are in Sonoma County (btw we have a place to share there too) we like to host our cozy apartment in the city. It's not really kid friendly but some have stayed; we can chat about this.
Our place is perfect for singles/couples to explore Haight Ashbury, Inner Sunset, Golden Gate Park/De Young & Academy of Science Museums ( across the street ), Western Addition, Hayes Valley and the Pacific Ocean or Golden Gate Bridge.
Also, conveniently there's a Safeway Supermarket across the street & a Whole Foods Market a 10 minute walk (website hidden). I have never cancelled a reservation; when someone books on "Instant Book" and you have no idea what that is for dates that you did not approve this does not constitute a "cancellation" in my book.
