The Waterman’s Hideaway is a two story, coastal inspired home located on main street at the center of town and a short walk from Tangier’s restaurants, gift shops and tour boat docks. Guests can enjoy the deck overlooking the spacious backyard or lounge under the shade tree at the front of the property where they can interact with the locals passing bye as they go about their daily routines.
The space
The Waterman’s Hideaway is within five minutes walking to all of the island’s restaurants, gift shop’s and boat docks, where guests can watch the commercial crabbers as they leave and return home with their daily catch.
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire house and property except for a shed in the back yard.
Other things to note
First of all… before you book any stay on Tangier Island, you should check departure and arrival times as well as availability of the ferries to and from our island… All ferries to and fromTangier are walk-on only (no vehicles) and may be limited to one round-trip per day.
As Tangier is in the middle of Chesapeake Bay and about 75% marshland, flying insects during the summer months can be pretty annoying and sometimes even overwhelming... so during your warmer weather visit please bring insect repellent, or you can find it at Island Treasures Gift Shop right here on the island.

Neighborhood highlights
While on the island and visiting the different eateries, we recommend trying the Flatbread Crab Melt and Crabcake sandwich at the ‘Four Brothers Crab House and Ice Cream Deck’. And for souvenirs and gifts, visit ‘Island Treasures’ gift shop (The closest gift shop to the tour boat docks)
