Description

The space

Located 200m down a private driveway off a quiet village street north of Ubud, the cottage is unassuming, privately nestled among ricefields, fruit trees and dry fields local farmers use to grow their produce and flowers.
Inside, it is tastefully furnished. Each room has a ceiling fan, and beds have mosquito net.

Guest access

Free wifi
Hi-fi stereo system
Kitchenette with cooker and fridge
Sunlounge chairs on the terrace with a view

Interaction with guests

The cottage is supervised 24-hour from a distance by staff of a nearby four-star Villa, who also look after the cottage. (The cottage used to be the manager's residence, hence the lovely amenities).

The neighborhood

Located 5 minutes north of Ubud's Neka Museum & Naughty Nury's, it is in a quiet village famous for two temples: Pura Desa Payogan and Pura Pucak Payogan, amazing examples of Ubud's temple architecture. The closest place to shop is Bintang Supermarket, 10 minutes away by motorbike.

Getting around

There is no functioning public transport in Ubud, so those wishing to travel more than 5km radius are recommended to arrange wheels, for which we can help arrange rental (bicycle for $3/day, motorbike fo $5/day, car from $20/day, or chauffeured vehicle from $40/day incl petrol). Taxis to/from the village are usually no more than $5.

Great home to stay in, clean and filled with light. just far enough from Ubud to get total relaxation but still just a 10 minute motorbike ride away from town. I liked the village of Payogan. Communication with ther host was great. very nice place overall.

Perfect private luxe cottage 10-15 min outside downtown Ubud. This spot accomadates 4 very comfortably with ease — we were very happy with our stay. Outdoor shower was awesome, I personally enjoyed showering under the night sky and witnessing a shooting star :) Breakfast was included and always something to look forward to in the morning. Staff was very helpful & extremely attentive with daily breakfast, cleaning, laundry, transport/rental. they even ironed our canvas to paint that had been wrinkled no problem! We were very grateful for the hospitality extended as well as still having private intimate time to just hang out, decompress and enjoy Beautiful Bali! Picturesque porch good for hammock, framed by frangipani and banana trees, with zen pond brimming with life. The pond was very nice. We were graced by many visitors, as it is an open air cottage including magical praying mantis, colorful salamanders, gecko and friendly spiders however we were much appreciative of the mosiquito nets in bedrooms although bugs were never a problem (unless fruit or food was left out as it attracted ants very quickly) all in all we would definitely book again so happy to have found**

This is a great place to stay if you want to be in a peaceful place just outside of Ubud. It is a 10 minute motorbike/20 minute bicycle ride from the center of town. The cottage is in Payogan Village, just to the north of town. The cottage is more private than most places in Bali- it is not in a family compound and is away from the road. It is next to working fields, so there are often workers around. The cottage itself is beautiful, and even more lovely and spacious than I expected from the photos. There are 2 bedrooms- one with a large office area and big wooden desk. Both rooms have wardrobes and bedside lamps, but no night stands. The living area has two soft daybeds. There is a nice outdoor patio with two lounge chairs and breakfast table overlooking a small fish pond and grassy lawn area. The kitchen is small but functional with a refrigerator, 2 burner stove, electric water heater, and plenty of dishes. The outdoor bathroom is lovely with hot/cold shower and stone sink. Ketut, the property manager, was very helpful and responded quickly to any issues (power outages, empty water tank). Like most places in Bali, the cottage is not completely sealed off from the outdoors, so there are tropical creatures/insects (geckos, ants, spiders) roaming throughout the house. The ants can get really bad if you leave out food or forget to turn on the porch light at night. Another drawback is that the beds are very firm, with protruding bed springs (that dug into my back at night). You can hear things moving on the roof at night, and the roosters crow early. There is also a nearby temple that can get noisy, but that's all just part of the Bali experience. Overall this is a great place and I would highly recommend it!

Born and raised in Bali until graduating from highschool, I pursued tertiary education in New Zealand and Canada. I'm now living in Bali where I manage my grandfather's homestay. This AirBnB account is created mostly to help my mum (born in NZ, has lived in Bali for over 40 years) get guests for her BnB.
