Parking and traffic in Old San Juan is challenging to say the least. I suggest forgoing car rental when staying here. Take a cab from the airport for $25 and walk the old city. The Sheraton Hotel has a Hertz car rental desk for day/ road trips around the island.

We have two listings on airbnb for this apartment. The rate quoted on this lisiting is for rental of the GUEST ROOM and found under (ROOM TYPE: Private Room).

Please see our other listing "Stunning View & Apartment" if you are interested in renting the apartment privately without sharing.

I live fulltime in Brooklyn, New York where I run a huge loft guest house. I just acquired this apartment during my February trip to San Juan when I once again fell in love with this magical city. I spend the bulk of my time in New York and have charged my mother Evelyn with the care of this apartment. We switch back and forth depending on schedules. Sometimes she runs my loft in Brooklyn while I'm in San Juan or vice versa. Either way we are both fun hosts who love having guests from around the world share this space and amazing view.

Looking forward to having you in Old San Juan!

Check In
  • Shell's apartment is literally in the most ideal location in Old San Juan. It is in (IMO) the most beautiful and safest neighborhood by the Governor's Mansion, and the best location within that neighborhood, perched on a mild incline with a view of the mansion, the colorful streets intersecting, and the bay--all from the top floor of the building on the patio of your dreams. Check in was fast and easy, the apartment was clean, everyone we interacted with was nice, and I can't wait to go back.

  • A girlfriend and I just stayed 5 nights in this beautiful apartment. We couldn't of imagined a better location, EVERYTHING is within walking distance AND you get this incredible view! The photos are spot on and the host is sweet and incredibly accommodating.

  • PERFECT PLACE! My boyfriend and I stood with Eva during the San Sebastian Festival. Our stay was more than what we could have imagined. Our flight got in at 4am, Eva was great at accommodating our early arrival. Once we arrived, we were greeted by Eva in the lobby of the building. She gave us a map with great suggestions of where to eat & places to visit. Mornings were the best, sitting at the balcony with french pressed coffee which my boyfriend simply LOVED (might need to invest in one of these soon)...The view was spectacular!! Overall, our stay was just perfect!! We would def love to stay with Eva again! Thank you soooo much for making our stay at your guest house be all we wanted. We look forward to staying with you soon. :-)

  • We had a wonderful time in old san juan. The photos are exactly accurate, and the view is truly spectacular. The location is really great. close to lots of fun stuff in old san juan while being away from the biggest tourist traps. Eva was a great and attentive host. Our plane was delayed in new york for several hours and we ended up not getting in until 5am, when we were supposed to arrive around midnight. Eva was very gracious and flexible even though our arrival time was such a pain. We rented just one room, but ended up having the place to ourselves most of the time.We would definitely stay there again.

  • The view of the harbor, the proximity to an evening walk between the city walls and the ocean, and waking up to soft morning light + Caribbean breeze made Shell's place a dream.

  • We had a lovely time here. The apartment was very clean and looked like the pictures. The bedroom also had a new air conditioner that worked great. The deck of course was the best part, we spent a ton of time there. Location very convenient to El Morro and nice restaurants. Also, we travelled with a toddler and Ms. Evelyn was very accommodating to our family. She went above and beyond, even helping coordinate the delivery of a rental crib for our son before we arrived. We would stay here again and recommend it to others.

  • Our stay in San Juan was wonderful and memorable. Many thanks to our gracious host, Evelyn. She provided us with many insights, maps and local orientation, that we experienced many places, we probably would have otherwise missed, despite our own pre-researched itinerary. This premium location was very quiet, very safe, yet central enough, with magnificent water views and a well equipped apartment. We felt gratified to have found this charming location, and very satisfied with our choice.

  • The apartment was phenomenal. The first words I uttered were simply "yes" because it was perfect.
The terrace became the morning and afternoon ritual because it looked over a beautiful part in old San Juan that was quiet but enough activity to be totalky absorbing.
The location was perfect - it was just out of the main tourist part of old San Juan but so close that you could walk everywhere very easily.
The bedroom had air conditioning that was a life saver!
Evelyn, the host, was incredibly lovely and helpful. She organised a taxi to drop us off at the airport on the last day so we didn't have to worry about traipsing though the cobblestone streets with our bags. She also gave us a great rundown of old San Juan and Puerto Rico in General when we arrived which was so helpful.
The apartment is everything you could imagine being in Puerto Rico. Perfect.

  • The view is really unmatched. My boyfriend and I spent three nights in this apartment. Shell's mom met us at the apartment and was very sweet. It was exactly as described. It was clean, very homey. The bedroom is a bit dark but the point of staying here is for the incredible terrace if you like to sit out there than this is a great fit for you.

  • The place, location, and terrace will amaze you. We walked all of Old San Juan and there could be no better location to start the evening from or come home to.

I found this massive loft 2 years ago through a friend. So excited to find such an extremely rare space I signed a lease and moved in immediately before I even new what to do with it. Flash forward 2 years and I now find myself living with a Zimbabwean film producer running a communal share house aka (mini Bed & Breakfast) out of my loft. Rita (Zim film producer) and I met when she stayed at my loft for 2 weeks while looking for permanent accommodations in New York. Those permanent accommodations turned out to be at my loft where she’s become co-host to our house of international guests and the occasional Aussie refugee. My obsession with collecting mid-century furniture and flea market gems has hopefully made each of our three guest rooms as well as the rest of the loft a unique and comfortable space for our guests to call home. We recently starting a new tradition of cooking brunch every Sunday with our guests and friends. I’ve taken all the cooking lessons I fought my mother over as a youth, combined them with some new tricks to make them healthier and this has created the template for our brunch menu. Add guest contributions like orange flour-less cake from the Aussie Master chef contestant who stayed with us recently, or authentic Italian homemade pasta from the Milano girls. Food, and an international modge-podge of friendly folks discussing life from around the globe have made Sundays the most anticipated day of the week. Turning my loft into a communal space to be shared with travelers who become friends has been the most positively life altering decision I’ve ever made. With each passing person the experience gets exponentially greater. As characters in a great novel each guest who stays seems to unfold a little more of the story. I can’t ask for a better life. Rita and I look forward to meeting you soon.
