Come stay in this lovely Park Slope 2 Bedroom apartment with private rooftop patio! Great location, beautiful, charming neighborhood with restaurants, shops, and more, Prospect Park close by. Quick access to Manhattan and all things NYC!
Hello, I am Laurel, and I hope I can welcome you into my home as a guest!
This is one bedroom private room in a two-bedroom apartment. The guest room has a full size bed, dresser, rocking chair, and air conditioning is provided in the bedroom. It's in the middle of the apartment, so it's very quiet with no street noise at all.
This is a share with me (and occasionally another guest) occupying the other bedroom, not a private apartment. If you are interested in renting both bedrooms, please contact me to discuss options! (I have the other bedroom listed as well! Check my profile for a link!!)
Please enjoy the lovely outdoor space, the hammock, and rooftop garden as much as you like.
Use the kitchen to cook and store any food you purchase during your stay.
The living room is available to relax or to watch Netflix or DVDs.
Please note that the apartment is shared with two sweet cats. Lucy is a bit more social, Foster more shy. Both will likely investigate and welcome newcomers but not crowd them. You're welcome to keep the bedroom door closed to keep them out, though they tend to stay out of the guest bedroom on their own.
Park Slope is picturesque Brooklyn with its beautiful brownstones and tree lined streets. I love it and feel lucky to call it home! It's considered the one of the best neighborhoods in NY by The New Yorker magazine. On our block alone we have boutiques, restaurants, a grocery store, a gym, a community garden, a bar with bocce ball and a music venue. Enjoy famous 5th Ave restaurants bars and shopping. Walk to Barclays Center, Grand Army Plaza, Prospect Park (free concerts all summer long!), the Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Brooklyn Flea market, Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), and much much more! Quick easy access to Manhattan.
Street parking is not generally a problem the area; let me know if you plan on driving and I can provide further information if needed.
Nearby trains: R Train at Union Street one block away, Short walk to 2/3 (email hidden) Plaza or Bergen Street, Short walk to Atlantic Ave /Barclays where you can catch virtually every train (2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q or R and New Jersey Transit)
A few short stops into Manhattan.
Nearby busses: B63 stop right at the corner.
PROXIMITY TO MANHATTAN:
We're one block from the R train, and one quick connection at Atlantic Ave/ Barclays takes you to the first stop in Manhattan (Chinatown), which takes just about 20 minutes! Bring your subway map and I'll help you get wherever you need to go.
Please no smoking inside or on the rooftop.
No pets please.
Any additional guests MUST be approved by host. (It's usually not a problem- I just need to know in advance!)
Special gatherings or parties must be approved by host.
In order to be respectful of neighbors I ask that guests finish using the rooftop space by 11pm.
This a people-friendly and respectful household, no matter your race, religion, or sexual preference. We ask that you respect the space and it’s inhabitants in such a manner as well!
Laurel and Nate are such charming hosts. I had a great stay with them. The room was very comfortable, private, and equipped with plenty of storage. The flat is in a perfect location! I would happily stay here any time. Thanks so much!
Laurel (and her partner Nate) were amazing hosts, and their apartment is really lovely! They accommodated me on very short notice, and really made me feel at home: they made me coffee and tacos my first morning in the apartment, an let me use their (giant and well equipped) kitchen to cook and store groceries. They were both extremely warm and welcoming.
The room itself is small but charming, and a great price for the area. The location of the apartment couldn't be better--it's very close to many trains, shops, bars, restaurants, and about a ten minute walk to Prospect Park. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a private room in the best neighborhood in Brooklyn!
I stayed at Laurel's and Nate's and let me tell you, it was a bliss.
The place was always impeccable and it always smelled like home, because these guys were always cooking something delicious. The bathroom was always very clean, which I find super important.
The location is perfect, there are many restaurants and cute tiny stores on 5th and the R line is just one block away from the house. There's a great supermarket just downstairs and there's a bank near by. Park Slope is chill but at the same time it's entertaining, there are many places to go eat and visit, You'd be staying 4 blocks from Prospect Park, which is amazingly beautiful, and maybe 6 blocks from the Brooklyn Museum, which has a great collection and very good expos. 7th avenue is really nice as well and it's only two blocks away.
About the hosts, where do I begin? They are so nice, they always make you feel welcome and at home. Whatever they have or do, they'll offer to share it with you, they are very generous and super easy going. Laurel and Nate are really smart and well read persons, so you can have long interesting conversation with them about anything. They are really good people and they'll try their best to help you with anything you need.
My experience was fantastic, we became friends, went out, cooked together, went to museums, etc. I think I was pretty lucky to find these guys, they have good hearts, they're really good people and I hope we continue to be friends for life.
Oh, and one more thing, the cats are super nice, they are quiet and so sweet!
Laurel was very gracious and welcoming. The room, though small, was comfortable, very clean and VERY quiet. It made for excellent sleeping. It is right on 5th Ave. and my worries about traffic noise were for naught. It's right in the heart of all the Park Slope action; with easy access to the subway. We hope to make a return visit.
Lovely apartment, very close to subway stops and quick trip to Manhattan. Laurel is a great host and provides heaps of amenities for her guests (tea, shampoo, guide to Park Slope). I would definitely stay here again, but do note they have two (very friendly) cats so it might not be for you if you have allergies.
Great room in a great location. Laurel and Nate were very welcoming, they had a party one night and I got to join in and meet a lot of their friends (who are all super). I was there on Christmas morning and they made breakfast and even got me a present! Can't imagine how my stay could possibly have been better.

Hi, I'm Laurel. I am an explorer at heart. I love discovering new places and meeting new people. I moved to Brooklyn from Austin, Texas 5 years ago, but grew up in the midwest, Hawaii and Alaska. I've traveled all over the US, to Mexico and Central America, Europe, and Africa. It's been too long since I had a stamp in my passport, though.
I love hosting friends at my home, enjoying a glass of wine or dinners on the rooftop; home is a place to return to for peace and rest and recharge from the busy city. I want my guests to feel that way too! I love cooking, and enjoy a vegetarian (mostly vegan) lifestyle, but you don't need to do the same in order to stay in my home!
I work in education as a Speech Language Pathologist and love children. I am also an animal lover, and have two feline friends, Lucy and Foster, who share my home.
I enjoy biking around the city, picnicking in the park, gardening, running, going to the beach, spending time with friends checking out a local restaurant or bar, or seeing some live music. I love NYC and feel so lucky to call it home!
