The Space

Cosy, and quiet house nestled in the heart of the vibrant 'Seminyak'.

Situated in the most sought after location in Seminyak, Casa Mia is a garden oasis situated in a calming area, peaceful and serene, yet only moments from Bali’s most popular restaurants, beautiful beaches, shops and bars (eg: Kudeta), spa (massage at Casa Mia on order possible), which prides itself to create and provide its guest a welcoming atmosphere.

Creatively designed to welcome those who would like to touch the quality way of life in a exotic and typical balinese open house.

In this 2 bedrooms house , Matahari and Manis room, feel home away from home.

The french owner, Vaness', will welcome you and make you as comfortable as possible.

She will give you advices, for you to be able to make the qualities holidays according to you, and give you directions do not miss the essence of Bali.
From the morning market where she used to go, to the good restaurants or trips around the island (she also runs a travel agency)

Casa Mia Open-House could welcome 4 people easily in it's 2 bedroom with queen size bed (2 other person could stay under a lovely gazebo with mosquito net in the garden on a double bed . Nowhere except in Casa Mia you could experience a safe night in a lush garden, in the heart of Seminyak). Lovely !!!!

Enjoy at Casa Mia, enjoy with the extra services (not included) : a real spa service (body massage, mani-pedi, nails polish...) with our selected best therapist coming at home especially for you.
Rent scooter : delivery directly to the villa,
Private driver for excursions.
Airport transfert A/R (only by reservation).

8 kilometer from the Airport, 15-20 minutes walk to Seminyak beach, 2 minutes from many nice restaurants ( Indonesian, Indian, Belgium, Italian, french....), great fashion shops and clubs like KUDETA, or salsa places like Bahiana and Obsession.
5 minute walk to Golden Village, the nearest swimming pool within the wonderful setting of Seminyak or have a nice Yoga session at Prana, Jl Kunti in front of Bali Deli.

Between jalan Oberoi the "Eating street"
(where you could have a nice sunset session at KUDETA, and a wide range of food from all over the world. Amazing fashion Shops in Oberoi street / Jalan Raya Seminyak street)
and Jalan Dhyana Pura "Drinking Street" where you could party, eat, dance salsa at Bahiana and Obsession, have a sunset drink at 'La Plancha' on Seminyak beach.

And go back sleeping in a nice and quiet hideaway.....
What else!!!

  • We stayed at the Casa Mia starting from the 29th December 2013 and booked the accommodation because we wanted a villa set up, allowing the two couples a communal area to sit in and catch up. When we arrived we had the excited holiday feeling and had booked to stay for 11 nights, this feeling soon ebbed away and the sinking feeling set in. Sadly the accommodation was so bad we only lasted four nights before finding alternative accommodation. What follows is my account of the guesthouse I would recommend you read it fully before considering booking this place. Upon arrival the first thing that became apparent was that the beach was circa 30 minutes away and not the ten minutes that the owner had advertised and confirmed in an email. In fairness a five-minute time saving was achievable if you are brave enough to negotiate the "short cut" which involves weaving your way between other villas but closed at 5pm each day. We would not have booked accommodation without a pool if the actual walking distance had been as advertised. Furthermore I consider this type of exaggeration is very much against the spirit of AirBnB policies on the website. I will now turn my attention to the house, I, like others was seduced by the pictures and reviews on the website, however those pictures only tell half the story. I would say that the living area is visually stunning and quite traditional, when you start digging beneath the surface you notice that the place is very much the owner’s residence, she was away during our stay, but her G-string in the bathroom, toiletries and clothing were not. I understand from the housekeeper that when the owner is in residence she sleeps in the garden in an open day bed. Her wardrobe is in the living room and her possessions are everywhere. I note that this is a guesthouse and not a hotel, however it is quite unusual to have the owners chattels so visible and on show. The living room has ample seating, but in heavy rain the roof leaks. Prospective guests should also check before booking where they will be sleeping. There was a double mattress in the corner of the living room, this would offer no privacy and would result in you being eaten alive by mosquitos. The quality of the bedrooms fell far below the standard I would expect for the money and for a guesthouse, I know this because we abandoned casa Mia after four nights and moved to a full service hotel, with air conditioning and a pool, albeit without the rustic local charm but for less money. The bedrooms were damp, in particular the ground floor bedroom walls were waterlogged which resulted in the mattress, sheets and our luggage becoming damp. I was horrified days later when I returned to drop the key off at the property and saw the mattress and pillows without the bedding and saw they were moldy. I know...

  • If you are looking for barking dogs that keep you up all night, twenty different variety of creepy crawlies including multiple families of lizards, two inch long flying cockroaches and hippo sized ants then welcome to Casa Mia. This is a natural experience that you are unlikely to forget in a hurry. The owner of the villa had obviously never let out the entire place and though there was a promise of two bedrooms, the 5 of us who booked the entire place, had to sleep in 1 bedroom. Why you may ask? As one bedroom was unusable and only one had some sort of mosquito net which did not have dime sized holes in it. Being Asian and someone who travels 80 to 100 nights per year, I have been in quite a few weird places but this one took the entire bakery. The owner, who was apparently full of lies, never told us even to bring a mosquito repellant, was hell bent on ripping us off for services which we finally were able to avoid buying from her, left the premises before you could wink and then ran way to Australia the next morning leaving us with a dishonest housekeeper who obviously could not understand english.

Our annual family holiday was royally ruined by this lady as she did not even have the courtesy to refund the money when she realised what she had done. Instead, she kept sending weird emails to me (please write to me for photos and copies of the deranged emails I got) where she clearly denied a refund and you could see her gloating about the fact that we were stuck here during one of the peak periods of Bali.

After three days of torture, we got worried about Malaria and dengue since there was a lot of stagnant dirty water both inside and outside this half-made villa, we had to check into another place at our own cost. With two children aged 10 and 8, and with snakes so common around her house, there was no way we could continue to stay here. Promoted as a child friendly house, imagine our surprise to find cigarettes in every corner of the house.

If the dirty linen, cigarette holes in most of the mosquito nets and the misrepresentation was not enough, we also found out that the owner poses as all kinds of business owner to her unsuspecting visitors.

I hope to write a complete article including pictures about this place and promote it online so that this imposter can not dupe more people. I also urge AirBnb to get a refund for us from here since we not only did not stay the full 6 nights, but were cheated by her sneaky ways.

  • Vaness' Bali Open House in Garden Seminyak gave me the opportunity to explore Bali and yet not be too far from the airport. The place is at walking distance to the shops and restaurants in Seminyak and options to walk to the beach (~12-15 minute stroll). (Whilst I was staying there she had some friendly other guests from a range of nationalities and we were all looked after very well by Nyoman (her Balinese colleague). The house is personable and well decorated reflecting Vaness' good taste in creating an experience. I was staying on a couple of days prior to attending a conference at Westin Nusa Dua and it did give me a chance to experience the South West coast of Bali. On the brief stay I had a chance to see a great sunset from Finn's beach club (on the rocky south coast in Uluwatu) by taking an affordable Blue Bird cab and a funicular down to the incredible beach in an alcove.... I also checked out the nearby Ku De Ta beach club which is at a walking distance from the house. For a Balinese food experience you can cross the street at Uwang Made. A must try is the seafood on the beach experience in the fisherman's villages of Jembaran Beach (I tried Aroma which has great lobster and prawns) On a personal note, it is very hard to choose a place on AirBnB on on the many hotel sites. There are just too many options and its startling. If I would go again, I would probably opt to stay in Ubud. Many people I spoke to find that place magical and very Balinese. Staying in Seminyak is very convenient if you are just arriving or departing from the nearby airport. The house is well placed to be quiet and peaceful and walk out the street and you;re in the midst of the Seminyak scene. Enjoy your stay, I know I'll come to Bali on a next opportunity! Thxs Vaness and Nyoman for your welcoming spirit and terrific help before and onsite. You've helped me discover Bali in a relaxed and informed way from the perspective of the locals. Much appreciated.
The only thing I would change is to improve the wifi coverage if more guests are in the house as this left me disconnected from time to time when it was business critical for me.

  • I recommend Vaness' lovely Balinese home as an ideal refuge to stay away from the hurly burly of Seminyac. As soon as you turn off the Main Street and walk along the lane to Vaness' place it is peaceful and relaxing. Passing the large temple and entering the yard by a locked door you have your own little piece of heaven. Special touches such as traditional thatch structure, outside bathroom, beautiful garden and lots of interesting decorative features make this a perfect Bali experience. The beds are comfortable, the property is ideally situated close to restaurants, entertainment and a short walk to the beach. ATMs are also close by. The booking procedure was smooth and Vanessa responded quickly to all requests. Breakfast was prepared each morning by a lovely maid who also cleaned the house daily. Everything was clean and perfect and I will certainly stay here again and recommend Vaness' home to family and friends.

  • Perfect place to stay (email hidden)! We had an amazing 6 night stay in Casa Mia along with a 3 day tour with Vaness'. We didn't plan out the intricate details of our trip but she was very helpful in showing us the places to visit the rest of the day besides the guided tour. I have a funny feeling we will be back again sometime... Would definitely recommend Casamia to anyone!!

    Thanks Vaness'!!

  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Casa Mia (Vaness' and Fabrice's paradise in Seminyak) for three and a half days and really appreciated their kind hospitality and the charm of their open-style house. The location is excellent (close enough to the centre and the beach, but far enough from the noisy streets), the hosts interesting and welcoming, the breakfast a luxury and the house simply lovely (imagine something right out of "Home and Garden"). If we have the chance to come back to Bali we would love to stay at Casa Mia again. Thank you for a great experience!

  • My brother and I stayed with Vaness in June 2012 and we couldn't have been happier with our visit. We rented both of her rooms out for three nights and felt like we got a great deal for the price. If you're visiting as a couple, its an even better value since you will only need one room. The home is gorgeous, and the outdoor living area and kitchen look like something out of a magazine. We were in a fantastic, safe location, about a 10 minute walk to the beach, and right next to the main strip of restaurants and shops. Vaness was great, and a wealth of information about the area. We had breakfast with her every morning, and she even surprised my brother with birthday candles in his croissant on the morning of his 24th birthday! I will definitely be staying here again next time I visit Bali, this time with my boyfriend, and hopefully for a much longer stay.

As 'Carpe Diem' person, I seize the day and every moment of life. I love to share the good experiences of life with family, friends and people around me. With my Bed & Breakfast in Bali, I found the perfect combination : hosting (email hidden) and guiding them through my local experience of 7 years in Bali. Fluent in French, english and Indonesian, I'm used to bring my hosts along my balinese life, a mix between the traditional indonesian life and my expat's life here. From the local morning market, the good restaurants/clubs around to the 'have to be seen" places, come along with me or tell me about your dreamed holidays and we'll help you to make it become reality! Vaness' in Bali And just to let you know, I also propose Travel Agency services to my guests (hotels and villa bookings and transport (motobike ( around 5$/day or car rental with driver ( around 60$/day) or without driver (around 38$/day, speed boat to Gilis (between 70$ and 100$ return ticket), Day tours around Bali, standart activities and visits and out of the tracks one like walk in the rice field with HHH, shower with balinese people under holy water shower or play at the secret waterfall at Gunung Kawi temple....). With 7 years of experience in Bali, speaking fluently french, english and indonesian, I even do guiding trip myself (750.000rp/day/pax minimum 2pax not include car or included motobike you drive)) + transport (driver with car or follow me on your motobike). If you need anything, tell me about you taste (adventure around Ubud, temples visit, traditional local life, market, shopping, trekking Mt Batur, Agung or Rinjani, massage and spa's around Bali, Honey Moon style vacation and much more...)  and I'll organize a perfect Bali journey for you. Have a good day!
