This Chateau situated in the Loire Valley of France is a home away from home... The chateau has a long history and a special architecture restored by me "Faba". It's divided in 2 sections : the ground floor and the first floor.
The ground floor includes the living room with capacity of 10 to 15 people. The very fact that the chateau does not have a formal dining room reinforces its laid back philosophy. The equipped brick kitchen, room seating up to 10 . There is also a WC on this (website hidden) Room situated as well on the ground floor with TV Cable and DVD player.
You will find on the first Floor the 4 bedrooms. Two of them are en suite, plus a further, shared bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. The master suite is on this floor and has its own TV, a double bed and a bath. There is an adjoining twin room, making this part of the chateau perfect for a family. There is a further double bedroom suite bathroom overlooking the swimming pool. A twin room completes the sleeping accommodation on this floor.
Enjoy the pool in the chateau, a park and a river in front. Get a chance to see all the castles in the Loire Valley.
The chateau is based on a self catering service but arrangements can be made for occasional or full catering services provided upon request.
The gardner will maintain the garden and the swimming pool area.
This is a superb location both internally and externally. On top of that, Faba goes out of here way to make the stay as pleasurable as possible bootstrapping the stay with enough wine and paté for the first couple of days! Everything lived up to expectations (and more as the weather was also very clement), the rooms, the pool, the kitchen and the yard. What I did not realize was that the castle was walking distance form the village center allowing for my morning errands to the balangerie and bookstore for the morning croissants bread and newspaper. The butcher (another 10meters) has amazing merguez and chipolata while another 50 meters will get you to the la Solognote which will deliver some very fine dinning experience even with young kids.
So all in all perfect stay!!
About the Host, Faba
I am Faba. My castle is called CHATEAU DE SOLOGNE -built in 1610 . It was the residence of (chancellor) Chancellier Pierre Seguier. He was under Kings Louis XIII and Louis XIV. He was the second most powerful man in the critical period during which monarchical power was consolidated.
Pierre Seguier is with no doubt, with Richelieu and Mazzarin one of the biggest sponsor of arts and collector of his time.
Seguier was the protector of Le Brun until his death in 1672. This is the time when Le Brun starts is official career, as in 1662 he becomes the first painter of the King.
