The Space

On the outskirts of town you are close to all the action, but far enough to enjoy some solitude. Hop onto a bicycle (supplied by us), or put on your hiking shoes and you will find yourself in our beautiful Karoo within seconds. After a hot summers day you can enjoy your sundowners at our small dam, listening to the chatter of birds, or curl up infront of the fire with a good book in winter.
We are at the foot of the great Swartberg mountains, and the famous Swartberg pass and Cango caves are a stones throw away. Why not visit the olive and fig farms, the local dairy which makes hand crafted cheeses, or spend the day shopping or trying out some of our wnderful eateries.
Our cottage is fully eqipped for self catering (no TV, only Dvd, with a selection of movies to watch). We can accommodate up to 5 people and a baby cot is available. You are more than welcome to use the pool in the warm summer months.

  • Imks's cottages is stunning! It is very comfortable and the private garden is very cozy. The furniture, decoration and art are very tasteful and make for a special atmosphere.
Imke"s family is very friendly, we had a very nice welcome chat and I wish we could have spend more time with them! All communication was very easy and Imke made sure that we found our way around. Highly recommended!

  • We stayed 2 days at Prince Albert in Imke's cottage and it was just too short!
The cottage is situated in à beautiful garden full of flowers and birds and a small dam.
The house itself is quiet big. Even with one bedroom we had plenty of space for the 4 of us (2 adults, one kid and a baby).
The house was clean. The living room and the outside terrace very cosy.
The kitchen is not made for big cooking but you can manage easily to prepare a light lunch or supper but in Prince Albert you have plenty of very good restaurants and take away options. There is also a braai area just outside the house which can help.
The house is furnished with very good taste and we found it beautiful.
Even if the cottage is close to the owner house you have a lot of privacy.
To summarize we enjoyed our stay very much and we love to have the chance to come again.

  • Imke's cottage in Prince Albert is private and cosy indeed. We drove through the spectacular Swartberg Pass, nice rocks and structures, and finished in this nice town. Imke made us feel welcome and we quickly settled in to her cottage (it's more than your typical b&b). Although our stay was brief and Imke was busy with her son's activities, she made a good impression to us. She made feel at home right away. She also helped my other friends to book her friend's B&B a few blocks away (which was equally nice).

The cottage is nicely decorated. Adequate for travelers with braai facilities outside. It had everything you need to make you feel like you are at home. She also provide separate bins for waste segregation. Best of all, she had a coffee machine ready to grind beans and wake you up in the morning.

I highly recommend her place. Thank you again Imke for being a good host.

About
We are a family of 5, living in the small karoo (south africa) village of Prince Albert. Our children are 9, 16 and 17. Rudi is a cabinet maker and I am involved in a community project involving children, recycling, basically teaching underprivileged children about the environment and how to do something for themselves. My brother lives in Berlin, and has a shop there called Cape Times.
