Only 10 min from Kona Int. Airport, you'll love the serene quietness and ocean view of the entire second level of our large home.

You will have a separate, key-coded entrance for privacy, two bedrooms w/ cathedral ceilings, available to sleep 4 people ( 2 queen beds; one in each bedroom), an outdoor kitchenette and your own, dedicated parking space. At a cool 1,300' elevation, temperatures are mild all year.

Our huge outdoor, covered lanai (deck) offers a stunning panoramic 180 degree view.

The space
Our Tropical Treasure is situated at a cool 1,300 foot elevation, overlooking the ocean. The climate is perfect all year round.

Besides the two well-lit bedrooms, we have an outdoor kitchenette with a sink, microwave, instapot cooker, 2 small fridges and a gas BBQ for your convenience. (We do not have an oven or stove available, but the gas grill has two burners.)

The kitchenette is located on a partially covered, huge terrace, or in Hawaiian we say lanai. The lanai has a spectacular west-facing , panoramic sunset/ocean view. There is beautiful bar with chairs so you can enjoy the dramatic scenery while you eat breakfast, lunch or dinner.

You will enjoy the privacy, the quiet neighborhood, the view, and you can also rely on our local knowledge of the island as we have lived here for 30 years.

All of the upstairs area is exclusively for guests.

Other things to note
Please note that if an infant exceeds the number of people allowed to book, there will be a charge as if they were an additional person. We will reach out to you after the booking is confirmed.

Hawai’i island is mountainous and big. We recommend renting a car. (Bikes don’t work well here as we live at 1300 ft above sea level.)

If you like hiking, remember to bring heavy-duty hiking boots, with thick, rigid soles. You will be glad you did. Also, bring a rain jacket. You will need it at some point when you explore the Tropical Rainforest. If you plan to visit the summit of Mauna Kea, bring a pair of long pants and a warm jacket. On the summit, it is quite cold in Hawaii, (sometimes complete with snow) at 13,796 feet above sea level.

All paper products and linens are included.

Our day usually starts around 10 am, then we are pretty much available all day and late into the night unless we are working.

We do sincerely care about the quality of your stay, so please text us if you need to and we will respond ASAP. We are very grateful you booked with us and want to be good hosts.

We ask that you closely abide by our 11:00 AM checkout time because the unit is becoming very popular and we need that time in between to clean it for our next guests.

Neighborhood highlights

Our neighborhood is safe and quiet. We have one neighbor across the driveway, but everyone else is a good distance away. All properties are on 1-acre lots. The house is not visible from the street and parking is available close to the unit.

It takes 7-10 minutes to/from the airport, 15-20 minutes to "downtown" Kailua-Kona, and 15 minutes to a spectacular beach.

There is a convenience store called Matsuyama a few blocks away for you to get comfort food fast. Safeway is 15 minutes away.

Aloha! I came to Hawaii in 1998 as a tourist, and never really left. I am originally from Germany, so we are a two language household. My husband James has lived on-island since 1991. We love to share the beauty of this incredible Big Island, there is so much to explore and see that is spectacular and amazing. A visit to Hawaii Island also tends to have a healing affect on people as they experience the unique, natural beauty all around them. We are ocean lovers, passionate Manta Ray Advocates*, and are happy to share our knowledge of the island with you as if you were friends or family. We can steer you towards tour operators who know what they are doing and also to those little know activities that are self-guided and free. Airbnb is venture for us, but we have 12 years of experience of sharing our additional rooms in the main house (the upstairs of our Tropical Treasure). We've created a great space and are confident about our ability to host you.
