Our neighbourhood De Pijp is one of the most popular areas in Amsterdam. We live in a very quit street in this dynamic district. It is ideally located: it is next to the Albert Cuijp market and at walking distance of the shopping area, Rembrandt Square and Leidseplein for nightly entertainment, Museum Square with Rijksmuseum/Van Gogh/Stedelijk, Amstel and the other canals to take a boat trip, all bars and restaurants which make De Pijp so attractive).
De Pijp is a lively neighbourhood with a melting pot of cultures meeting at the largest market in the Netherlands: the Albert Cuyp.
A formerly working-class neighbourhood, today de Pijp is home to a multicultural community and the city's largest market. The colourful sights and scents of the Albert Cuypmarkt are sure to delight and the area teems with charming ethnic restaurants, cosy brown cafés and trendy bars and terraces.
The young, old, students, artists, and families have all chosen to make de Pijp their home, and far removed from the hustle and bustle of central Amsterdam, this homely alternative is appealing.
Within walking distance from the house you will find popular sites such as the Heineken Experience, the Van Gogh Museum, Vondelpark, The Royal Concerthall, Paradiso, Leidseplein and the Rijksmuseum.
It will take about ten minutes by foot to get to the center of Amsterdam. You will also be able to take the tram, stops are only three minutes away. The Sarphatipark and the Vondelpark are nearby as well. There are two big supermarkets a couple meters away, one at each end of the street. Even though the Albert Cuypmarkt can be busy, our street is usually rather quiet.
Tram 4, 16, 24 and 25 are at 2 minutes distance. They will take you anywhere you want to go.

Other Things to Note
Our house is a nice living place. We live here with our 4 children. We keep the house clean, but we are not super tidy. Our home is weel chair- and kids-friendly! We have high chairs, baby beds and a lot of toys for kids, from a slide to numerous playing blocks, cars, animals, puzzles and games. It’s quite unique to have such an open space here in Amsterdam, it easily fits a large group of people.
"Keep the Airbnb spirit alive": you can make maximum use of everything our house has to offer but please use everything with respect. Smoking please outside, e.g. on the balcony. No pets allowed.
Birthday weekend, group of 10 guys.
I have to begin by saying how friendly, genuine, nice (I could go on) Paul and his family are. They were always willing to answer any of our questions, whether it was through airbnb, the second we stepped through the door or right through to when our stay had come to an end.
Paul and his family made this weekend one to remember through the one fact of how simple they had made our stay in Amsterdam. The apartment looks so much nicer when you actually step inside (no offence to whoever took the photos!) it's just that the apartment really is that beautiful! The one downside was that the roof was still being renovated which meant it wasn't available for our trip, but it's hardly something to complain about as the rest of the apartment more than makes up for it. The location of the apartment is really good with central Amsterdam being either a 16 or 24 tram away.
Special mention has to be made to the cat, Jack Jack (Jacks, Jacky, everyone had a different name for him haha) he made the vibe of the place feel so homey, he's super friendly and I actually wish I could've taken him back with me! I cannot emphasise how easy Paul had made our stay in Amsterdam and I am grateful as to how great he has made my birthday weekend turn out to be. Would definitely 100% return in the future and stay here again.
I booked for 10 people and spent a weekend in this lovely apartment located in one of the best areas in Amsterdam. Lots of great beds and many nice rooms. The combined kitchen and living room is perfect for socialising. Paul and Katja was very accommodating and answered all of our questions in advance of our stay.
I can definitely recommend this house and would be happy to stay here again.
I live in Amsterdam and was hosting a hen do for 16 british women, Pauls home was AMAZING and perfect for our needs, i knew the location was great but had no idea how lovely our accommodation would end up being...a walk into town and plenty around it (including a supermarket at the end of each end of the road!)
Super comfy beds, great sound system and big lovely space for dancing our socks off! Everyone enjoyed themselves 100% and i personally LOVED the stand alone bath with fireplace IN THE WALL! Amazing! Thank you from the whole Hen Party!
P.S we miss your Cat! : )
Superb apartment; great beds, rooms and location. We were a large group an it was easy to all sit together and cook for large numbers. There are 2 supermarkets v close by, a superb outdoor market (Albert Cuyp) and the museums and canal cruise less than 10 minutes away.
Paul and Katja have a lovely place. The photos are just like the house and the space is very comfortable. We visited in winter, so while in the house we spent most of our time on the main floor, which is situated between two floors of bedrooms. There is tons of space, a wonderful kitchen to socialize and cook in and fantastic light. Someone loves to cook and everything you could what is available. The family lives in the house when not renting so there is not much space for your things in the bedrooms, but with some sorting it is all fine. Towels and linens are all there and comfy. There are six bedrooms, five regular and one small for children with bunk beds. Many of the bedrooms have split beds that you can separate if you need two, only two are full size beds.
The neighborhood is wonderful with access to great bars, restaurants, supermarket just outside your door as well as the giant street market, and lots to do within walking distance. You have access as well to public transport within a minutes walk. All perfect!
We had a bit of a misunderstanding with the hosts in terms of guests and during our stay they stopped by unannounced on two occasions. Once in the middle and a second time early before checkout. They had some complications with their travels and had to come home early. They were very warm and nice about their visit but it felt strange to come home and wake up to them in the house.
I would still recommend the location and the house. All in all we loved it, but had some of the time feel uncomfortable due to some miscommunications. Do check that the entertainment system is working prior to arrival as it we were told it broke upon our arrival.
The reservation was canceled 14 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Great apartment and great location. The host was very accommodating and answered all of our questions in advance of our stay.
Hi, we are Paul and Katja Kok. Both 41 years old and parents of 2 girls (Anne 19 and Loes almost 18) and 2 boys (Max 4 and Kas almost 3). Katja works fulltime at a bank and Paul is a constructor/interior architect. He has renovated and designed our house himself. We are easy going people who love to travel, so our house is available regularly.
