This apartment was the perfect stay for our week in Paris. Francoise was always prompt in responding to messages both before and during the stay. The 11th arrondisement neighborhood was very quiet when we stayed the 1st week of August because many shops were closed for vacation. We still managed to find many delicious places to eat though. The apartment is located very close to 3 metro stops which made navigating Paris super easy. The apartment is exactly as pictured. A lot of stairs so if limited in mobility probably not for you. Otherwise, it was like a mini workout each time climbing the 103 stairs. The AC was perfect for the hot August days and some nights we simply needed to open the terrace doors and a lovely breeze would come through. The apartment has everything you need from tape to an iron to scissors to cooking spices and everything in between. We loved it. Thank you Patrick and Francoise.
Francoise e-mailed a couple of weeks in advance of our stay to see what time we would be arriving, so she could meet us at the apartment. Her husband Patrick met us there, and was very wonderful.
The neighbourhood was lovely, with the apartment right across from a community park for children. It felt very safe.
My boyfriend and I are both graduate students from the US and we wanted to visit Paris for a week. Francoise's apartment was the perfect place for our stay. It was only a few minutes walk from the metro and was very close to Bastille, which has some great nightlife. All in all it was a great location since it was central to easy to get to everything we wished to visit but also far enough away from the hoards of tourists. Francoise was very helpful by sending us detailed directions to get from the airport to her place. Her son welcomed us and was very helpful. The apartment is very clean and was a great space. The only con to this place is that it is on the 6th floor and there is no lift in the building. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed our stay will be glad to book with Francoise for our next Paris getaway.
Francoise was a great host! We were pleased to meet Patrick, her husband when we arrived in Paris. They were so accommodating to allow us to check in a little bit early. I struggled with the key, and Francoise was incredibly helpful via e-mail. The apartment was just as described, and living necessities as well as kitchen tools were on hand. The apartment made our Paris vacation even more wonderful than we could have anticipated. Such kind people.
The neighborhood was so, so charming. A local bakery and several cafes (with wi-fi) made the vacation feel authentic. Easily the best food I've ever had in my life. We were in walking distance to the Metro and to good restaurants.
Thank you Francoise for sharing your home and neighborhood with us!
Tout s'est passé à merveille. L'accueil est chaleureux, l'appartement est bien, le quartier est sympa. Je recommande :)
Francoise and her husband's apartment is one of the best kept secrets.... In the 11th Arondissement, it is a stones throw from Le Marais and all it has to offer - Places des Vosges, Musee Picasso, Musee Carnavalet..and wonderful wonderful fashion boutiques. But just a further walk and you arrive at Hotel de Ville and Le Louvre, Musee D'Orsay.., Pompidou Centre.
Francoise has this 'little patch of heaven' apartment so beautiful and clean. It has been so cleverly laid out to maximise the very cute spaces. There is an excellent air conditioner that will just take the heat and humidity away. Meanwhile, you can pinch yourself and think that you are living the 'Amelie' dream!!!
It is very romantic and quite snug... But you have all the amenities at your finger tips. The kitchen is wonderful - and it really shows what you can achieve in a smaller space!! I loved the fold down wall dish rack!!The shower room is compact but perfect - there is even a washing machine... and the shower pressure is wonderful - and so welcome after a hot day of walking or Metro- ing and getting to know every corner of Paris...
All that you need for a seamless time in Paris is close by... There are at least two supermarkets in walking distance, at least one bank with ATM facility around the corner, cafes at the end of the street and a beautiful Place de Gardette gardens where you can stop and watch children play and youth play table (website hidden) Ambroise Metro is just three streets away but really from rue Rochebrune, it is not a long walk to rue de la Republique ( at one end) or rue de Bastille ( at the other end) and then further to the banks of the Seine and across the bridges to Ile de la Cite and Ile St Louis.
Francoise and her husband are the perfect hosts - they could not be nicer and more obliging. When I arrived with 'six weeks travelling' heavy valise, Francoise helped me carry my bags up the six flights of stairs. On leaving Paris early morning to get the train at Gare de Lyon, Francoise's husband very kindly came and carried my bag downstairs and then drove me ( thoughtfully to make it easier and more comfortable for me) out of his way to Gare de Lyon where he kindly dropped me off at the station.
I couldn't have asked for a lovelier, cleaner, more comfortable, more beautiful, more authentic place to stay in Paris...Being a writer, to wake up to the rooftops of Paris and the sounds of cooing pigeons - all against the backdrop of a steely summer sky, is all the inspiration you could ask for!!!
