Interaction with Guests
My house is above the apartment and I am available 24/7.
Soufriere is generally a quiet town but at the weekends things liven up. The people are friendly, the views are amazing and the sun is always hot.
Public transport runs from Monday - Saturday. Airport transfer is generally by Taxi.
For the comfort and enjoyment of all guests, smoking is not permitted inside the apartment. Guests who do wish to smoke are requested to do so on the outside patio area where ashtrays are provided.
To help conserve energy guests are asked to turn off fans and other appliances when not in residence.
Everything was perfectly as expected and better. Superhost Peter walked us round the town of Soufriere to acclimatise to the culture, local places of importance and of course the locals too. The apartment was spacious and had everything we needed including (in no particular order) the garden with its tropical flowers, fruit trees & bird life; patio with wonderful views over the town, the sea and the petit piton. This was truly 4 weeks in paradise and a great base from which to explore the rainforest trails, the beaches and to feel that we'd really had a most relaxing holiday.
Our trip to Soufriere was so memorable because of Peter's hospitality and warm personality. We arrived to Hewanora airport and Trevor, Peter's on-hand driver, picked us up to take us to Soufriere. On the way, Trevor pointed out many of the sights of the scenic drive and acts as a very knowledgeable and personal tour guide. Upon arrival, Peter gives you a tour around the city and provides useful advice about attractions, restaurants, etc. During our stay, Peter would meet up with us every morning to hear our plans for the day and see what assistance/advice he could provide. This was extremely useful as we felt that we got the most out of every day.
The apartment is only a short walk from the city center. The uphill walk also allows you to have that astounding view of the city and the Petit Piton. The apartment is exactly as it appears in the photos and was perfect for our stay. The functioning kitchen allowed us to save some money by cooking some meals bought at the local supermarket. An extensive music and book collection is also made available to guests, which was welcome.
The apartment served as the perfect home base for a trip to Soufriere. The location combined with Peter's knowledge and generosity, made our stay in Soufriere an excellent one. If you're coming to St. Lucia wishing to skip the resorts and experience the island alongisde locals, Peter's apartment is a must.
Peter's apartment is exactly as represented in the photos. Its a lovely spot to make your home base to explore Soufriere and beyond. We stayed ten days and had a fantastic time. The kitchen is fully equipped and Peter was kind enough to have stocked it with some essentials like local coffee, milk, cereal, a couple of Piton beers. We didn't have too cook too much as there are so many great eating options in town.
We enjoyed our conversations with Peter and having Mocha pop down each morning for a visit. All of Peter's advice was spot on. His local knowledge is a great resource and he is very invested in his guest's enjoyment of St Lucia and Soufriere especially.
The view from the patio, bedroom, living room of Petit Piton is breathtaking. There are a lot of comments regarding the noise and indeed Soufriere is a lively spot. We did hear the roosters, dogs barking tree frogs but having the fans on in the bedroom drowned out enough of the noise to be able to sleep fine. Bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. There is no a/c in the apartment so it does get quite warm. We were fine though.
We enjoyed the local beaches and snorkeled every day. We did have a rental car for a few of the days and enjoyed the freedom of driving around to various spots on the island. I don't think its completely necessary to have a car but we did enjoy having one for part of our stay.
We would recommend Peter's place to anyone who wants to really get to know Soufriere and have a more authentic experience. If you want to stay in an expensive resort with air conditioning and all inclusive food and bev and never leave the hotel beach this isn't for you. Peter's place is what airbnb is all about. Its the opportunity to experience a place through the eyes of a local.
All in all it was an unforgettable Christmas holiday. Absolutely perfect. Thanks to Peter.
I can add little to the many good reviews of Peter's apartment and the extra service he supplies other than to say I had a fantastic time and hope to be back!
Probably, all has been written about Peter's wonderful place (and his fantastic dog named Mocha) in the reviews before. Nevertheless, we are not tired of mentioning the fact (again) that it was great of Peter showing us Soufrière in all its facets. Every single recommendation he gave us became a memoriable moment, which we (hopefully) will not forget. What we will definitely not forget, is his great music collection - which was sort of a "time-machine" while we had our Piton-beer on the terrace with its perfect view!
Peter, thank you very much for being our host and thank you for taking so much time to make us feel at home. Enjoy the latest Pink Floyd release;-)!
We truly enjoyed this stay. We stayed here after a couple of nights at other locations on the island and this was the best by far. Peter was so welcoming and made us feel at home. When we arrived he took us into town and showed us some of the best places to eat and hike. His recommendations were spot on. The moment you mention his name in town we were like family. Thank you to peter and mocha for having us.
The website entry for the apartment was absolutely accurate. The apartment was clean and spacious. Furnishing was simple, but comfortable with lots of storage space for clothing etc. The cooking facilities and dishes, utensils and huge fridge provided were more than adequate to allow us to try to cook some Caribbean dishes for ourselves. Overall staying in the apartment was a delightful experience. We felt more a part of the local community than we would have been if we'd stayed in one of the resorts; It really helped to be identified as 'Peter's guests'.
The welcome tour of Soufriere provided by Peter when we arrived was a brilliant start to our 6 days there. Suggestions for places to shop and eat, ideas for trips and contact with an excellent taxi driver provided an superb basis for the time we spent on St Lucia.
Sitting on the terrace having a tea, coffee or a Piton beer and watching the ever-changing view of Soufriere bay and the Piton was delightful in itself. The apartment was, however, also an excellent base for exploring the Island of St Lucia and Peter's tips definitely helped. The apartment is an easy 10 - 12 minute walk into the centre of Soufriere itself but also provides easy access to other sites on the island on foot, by public bus or taxi. Highlights for us included the Tet Paul Trail, the Botanic Gardens and Diamond Falls, Morne Coubaril Estate and the Piton Waterfalls.
We were really sorry to leave - we are missing the view and our morning meetings with Peter and Mocha to discuss what we might do that day. We are also missing access to Peter's impressive record and book collection and his back numbers of The London Book Review which provided ideal reading matter for time spent on the terrace! We hope to return at some point and thoroughly and unreservedly recommend Peter's apartment to anyone looking for accommodation in the area.
Originally from the UK I have now been in St Lucia for over 25 years and I love to share my knowledge of St Lucia with others.

Let me know if you need some tips! It's truly amazing what an Island of only 27 miles long has to offer!!
