The living accommodations are comfortable with a natural twist to the design.
The full kitchen is fully appointed with a stove top, oven, microwave, blender and coffee maker, plus I will stock you with condiments like spices, salt, pepper, and food for your first breakfast - eggs, tortillas, jam, butter and juice, I even have cold drinks for your arrival!
The living area is bright and sunny and overlooks the lower garden where there is a mural copy of a famous Mexican painting on the wall.
The main bedroom is large, with a king size bed and air conditioner.
The upper loft bedroom has a matrimonial bed and fan.
There is a 220volt plug for European guests.
You must see the photos to see what a nature-respectful home this is. Those who enjoy nature living in a great location will enjoy my home.
At the front of the property is a small area with plants for sale, so there will be someone available in the Garden from 10 am to 3 pm every day during the week to clean for you or answer questions if you require.

Directly beside the Garden is an economical laundrymat with same-day service, and beside that is one of the best-rate money exchange kiosks in Playa!

Even though there is no smoking in the house, feel free to smoke just outside the door, on your patio!

Only a short stroll away is the beautiful sparkling beach of the turquoise Caribbean Sea with beach clubs like Mamitas and Kool serving mojitos and cervezas all day long.

The famous 5th Avenue pedestrian walkway is only one block away with its restaurants, boutiques, shops and clubs....

This is a special property that is very different for the center of Playa... it's a touch of "Tulum"...
If you love something a little different for your Mexican holiday, you will love this property!

Guest Access

You have full access to the house and Garden property.

Interaction with Guests

I will greet you at the Garden upon your arrival, and introduce you to Playa with my "Favourites" binder.
There will be myself or concierge available through the weekdays from 10 am to 3 pm.

The Neighborhood

The Garden is on a quiet street close to everything - tourist restaurants and shops on 5th Avenue, local Mexican restaurants and shops on 30th Avenue, a huge Mega department store, Wall mart ~ all without the hubbub of being in the middle of it.
The beach is only a five minute stroll along 5th Avenue...
When I enter my secret Garden I feel like I have escaped to an oasis of calm and peace.
Directly beside the Garden is an economical laundrymat with same-day service, and beside that is one of the best money exchange kiosks in Playa!

Getting around

You can easily walk everywhere from where the Garden is. However, if you feel for it, taxis are always available, and for about two dollars you can get anywhere you want.
If you want to venture further out, there are trusty car rental places, buses and colectivos very accessible from the Garden.

Other Things to Note

I have a "Favourites" Welcome binder available, with all my tourist (and not-so-touristic) places I like to go in town and along the coast. The house is easy to live in, with everything right there. I upgraded the wireless internet service to a more expensive and trustworthy server, PlayaWireless. I had Cablemas and Telmex for many years, but found their service intermittent no matter what they promise.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • The Garden was out of the ordinary. Very quiet and peaceful place. It's very safe and is located in a nice neighborhood, just a few blocks away from the fifth avenue, the main street in Playa Del Carmen.
KCee has her office at the garden as well, so she will be present everyday of the week.
I recommend you to go spend your vacation at the garden of Eden

  • The location of the Garden couldn't have been better. The place itself is very unique and has a beautiful garden. We loved it. It does have somewhat limited privacy but it wasn't an issue or concern. Beds have mosquito nets which was very helpful.
KCee was great at following-up. She suggested a perfect dinner spot for my BD. Thanks, KCee! Beach suggestions and other tips were also very helpful.
On the downside we had some hiccups with hot water. KCee did call someone the same day to fix the heater after we mentioned the issue to her.
    We enjoyed our stay overall.

  • Staying at the Garden was wonderful. It is perfectly located - close to the heart of the action, but contained, quiet, and private. Our friends who came over could not believe we had the entire space to ourselves - large living space, outdoor seating areas, huge cooking area. It is a very open and natural space (it feels like staying in a treehouse on the ground).

One thing to know in advance is the floorplan and privacy/lack of that it provides. There is a distinct bedroom, but with the open floor plan, it is more or less all one open space - mainly, that means the bathroom is also kind of open (just a curtain separates it from the living space - no walls, no door, and no real privacy for you if anyone else is around). Obviously, that's just something to consider.

If you are looking for somewhere interesting, with character, that is well-located but provides an immediately relaxing vibe, check out the Garden. We already miss it!

  • We were staying at KCee's Garden of Eden for about week this February and we could not wish for a better accomodation :-) It's perfectly located. Just a short (like 5 min) walk from the 5th Av and maybe 7 min walk from the beach, surrounded by coffees, restaurants, etc. Just to get to the ADO bus station or to the small Vans which give you a ride to different places around Playa del Carmen it take about 20-25 min to walk there but the taxi cost just like 25 pesos so it's not a big deal.

The place itself is an experience itself. Specious, comfortable, well equipped and so original. You can see the place was thought through all details and with lot of love and passion.

The bed in the groundfloor is just hugeeeee! I really mean it! A perfect 2m x 2m square :-)

Apart of great house you have also nice garden for you use and believe me you really appreciate its shadow when you come from the beach or a walk in the 30 degrees of sun :-)

Regarding the mosquitos I haven't notice any problems. It was definetely not a problem to us.

We had always warm water and the apartment was fresh and clean when we arrived and it was cleaned also during our stay.

The things that might be to considered because not all of you might be happy with them are: the windows - you have no glasses just bars - so you it reminds a bit of the experience of sleeping in a tent and
the lock of the door. It's ineed a bicycle lock :D hehe A very interesting solution :-) But I need to add, that the garden itself is surrounded by tall wall with a metal doors and closed properly with 2 locks. So no danger I would say. Especially that the area itself it pretty safe.

KCee was a great host, very open, friendly, flexible and helpful. And the communication with her was aboslutely perfect. She answered all of our questions regarding the surroundings, gave us advices and was sincerely concerned about our well being.

Summarzing, is was a great experience and a cherry on the cake of our stay in Mexico and I can sincerly recommend Garden of Eden for stay at in Playa del Carmen :-)

Wow, Karolina, thank you for taking the time to write such a beautiful review! It was really nice to meet you guys... I hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday - you were very organized travelers, very nice and I was impressed with your many language skills... Thank you very much, Have a great day... KCee

  • Quite simply, we had a terrific time. KCee is a very gracious host and her home in Playa is unique and comfortable. KCee was even good enough to help us out when there were a couple of communication issues with local people we met! :-)

The house itself is simple and rustic, but in a very unique and interesting way. Given the favourable climate, it's a great design idea that so much fresh air can ventilate the house naturally. KCee has left her cool sense of design on every aspect of the building.

This was a different kind of trip south for us...for the past few years we have gone to a very quiet area of Panama for winter vacation, and so Playa del Carmen is a large contrast to that. But we ended up appreciating the access to conveniences as well as some of the amazing food at the local (email hidden)d the beaches and the nightlife offer a lot of calm (or not) diversions.

We loved having access to a full kitchen, as we like to cook. We even managed to whip up a nice Xmas dinner at home.

We look forward to visiting KCee and her amazing home once again as soon as possible.

Thank you so much Don and Brooke, we enjoyed meeting you and really look forward to seeing you again! Playa would love to have two talented people like you here!

  • What a great place to stay on a quiet tree-lined street in the heart of Playa Del Carmen. My boyfriend and I were surrounded by tropical trees and birds in our own oasis, in the center of the city. Outside the doors of our own Mexican Jungle we were only a few steps from the great shops and restaurants of Fifth Avenue and the Caribbean sea with its beautiful beaches. Our hostess Kcee having lived in playa for over a decade was a wealth of information from places to eat, where the locales do, to ceynotes and beaches outside the city.
This garden rental is truly a Mexican experience, selling plants and artisan things by day in her Jungle in the city, on the front of the property, and yes a juice bar is coming! We could not have asked for a better location and with renovations completed we slept peacefully every night with out any mosquitos I might add! We enjoyed our stay in the Garden and highly recommend it to anyone who wants a Relaxing Mexican vacation in a crazy little town. Es muy Bien!! Gracias KCee.

Thanks Michelle, it was really nice to meet you, too, thank you for such a wonderful review, we are proud of our renovations and our special place in downtown Playa...

  • A nice rustic house for our first trip to Playa del Carmen. When I say it's rustic, I mean there are a LOT of mosquitoes. You have to buy bug spray at the market when you arrive and it made the mosquito situation more manageable. The A/C is only in the kitchen, so it's very hot in the room. Not a real handle to enter the house (a bike lock to lock the door). I suggest to increase the security to secure travelers. Located not far from Mamitas Beach Club & Kool Beach Club and a block from 5th Avenue.
Apart from these suggestions, this property is truly unique and the location is amazing !

  • Wow... what can I say in a mere paragraph about KCee's house? First off... the place is a once in lifetime experience to stay in but besides that, it is the host who made it a life changing experience. I am truly grateful KCee opened her home to me and allowed me to share something truly unique. I was one of the fortunate ones who got to watch over her dog Pinky as well. What a super treat that was. If you are considering staying here, just do it. It's something you will never regret! And yes, it has everything you need as well as everything you don't! Guess that's my review. As the story continues since I am now a resident of this gorgeous city called Playa Del Carmen. = )

  • excellent place...great location. an oasis in the midst of the chaos of the main area of playa.

    February 2013
  • KCee's home is simply a work of art. A gated miraculous garden with this beautifully-designed home, open to the sky, trees and sun. It is the right amount of privacy, while still bringing the outside in, with the sun shining through and the wonderful details of stones, seashells and wood. Coming from New York, this space was exactly the dose of nature I needed. With the beach just a few blocks away, and Quinta avenida with all the restaurants and nightlife right around the corner.

Coming back home, I am sharing as many stories about the place I slept as the day's activities. Not something you'd usually say ;-)

KCee was an incredible host giving us all the guidance we needed along with some cold beer as we arrived from our flight. I recommend this place for anyone looking for a story, and a more interesting stay than the typical, boring white walls of an hotel room.
