Welcome to my home...
This fully-furnished, extra-large (180 square feet), private room with hardwood floors is located on the first floor in a gorgeous, peaceful two-story, four-bedroom house in north Berkeley's exclusive and beautiful tree-lined "Gourmet Ghetto" neighborhood, within easy walking distance to downtown Berkeley, just 4 blocks to the University of California campus, and a quick 20-minute drive to downtown San Francisco. Best neighborhood in North Berkeley.
This spacious room includes a full-size bed and a large futon, as well as nightstand, full-size dresser, desk with chair, and wireless internet for your working/studying needs. Big bright windows with soft fabric shades provide lots of sunlight and fresh air while you enjoy the gorgeous tree-filled views.
The house is within easy walking distance of the famous Berkeley Rose Garden, a vast array of wonderful restaurants (including world-renowned Chez Panisse; the very popular Cheese Board pizzeria; Asian, European, Indian, Mexican, and other international cuisine; delicatessens; cafes and coffee shops), grocery shopping, the Berkeley Farmer's Market, banking, post office...and more.
Downtown Berkeley is an easy 10-minute walk, and just several minutes by car or bicycle. Public transportation is convenient and abundant, with Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) stations and AC Transit bus lines nearby.
You have convenient access to two shared full bathrooms and one shared half-bathroom. You also receive an off-street space in the driveway for your parking convenience.
The room and house offer a quiet, safe, secure place for studying, visiting friends, and/or touring.
The house features wireless and ethernet-wired connections to the internet in all rooms, full kitchen privileges, living room, laundry, cozy "sitting room", and a large, serene rear deck with scenic bay views that also overlooks the big backyard with its lush avocado and lemon trees.
This room also offers a new wireless LED TV for watching Xfinity cable television. In addition, Netflix has already been programmed into the television so that you can watch movies without commercial interruptions. You can also watch Youtube as well as other entertainment apps found on most new smart television sets.
For long-term stays that are more than a week, you are welcome to help yourself to sheets, pillow cases, towels, etc. that are located in the linen closet next to the upstairs bathroom. Just put the dirty linen, towels, etc. in the dirty clothes hamper next to the washing machine downstairs when you change your bedding and/or change your towels. (Try not to overload the washer and dryer.)
There are spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge from this property. And the Educator/Teacher neighbors are very friendly and nice!

While a small room for three of us, the location and price are everything here. Beautiful kitchen, porch, and bedrooms and proximity to hundreds of restaurants and shops as well as UC Berkeley made it well worth it. Gracious and helpful hosts!
The house is large, and several rooms were occupied by guests ... yet, it was quiet day and night. The room is on the ground floor just past the front door. It is large and clean and well furnished, the bed is large and very comfortable. The WiFi is good and reliable, and there are plenty of towels and storage for clothes, etc. There is a tiny water closet on the same floor at the extreme back of the house arrived at by going through the kitchen. The principal bathroom is located up one flight of stairs, and it is shared by all. It is extraordinarily well supplied with soaps and shampoos. The kitchen is supplied with everything one can imagine would be required for cooking and eating. There is always a supply of donuts and danish "Help Yourself", and there is space in the fridge. There is also a sign above the sink correctly urging one to wash up one's utensils immediately after using, but the sinks are often filled with dirty pots and pans, even wooden spoons left to soak in water. This is the fault of the other guests, some of whom seem to think (wrongly) that there is maid service. But aside from the thoughtlessness of some other guests, this house is as close to being a perfect AirB&B rental as I can imagine -- and it is my 12th by comparison. Joyce and her son Greg are SUPER FRIENDLY AND GENEROUS WITH ALL THINGS. Greg was accommodating when I needed some tickets printed out, and he facilitated my parking on the street, which requires a day pass for visitors during weekdays but not weekends. There was always a parking space close to the house. The neighborhood is secure and handsome, close to shopping and restaurants, but (as almost everywhere in the United States) public transportation is not highly developed in Berkeley ... so you'll need a car, a bike, or a good pair of legs. HOWEVER, the good news is, if you can walk 12 blocks, you can catch the BART, which will take you to San Francisco ... even all the way to or from San Francisco Int'l Airport. And San Francisco has a world-class public transportation system. I intend to return to Joyce and Greg's place in June and look forward to it.
I agree almost 100% with John review which i copy with small adjustments :)

My stay was very enjoyable. The location is great for North Berkeley as it is walking distance to the Gourmet Ghetto with Chez Paniesse and Peet's Coffee just around the corner. The greeting was very good as Greg helped out with transport and I could come and go as I pleased. The home is also home to several other students and it is good to know that you are sharing kitchen, baths and the house with several other guests. They were very polite and quiet and since all foreign they were interesting to talk to. For the casual traveler it was fine. My wife may have wanted a bit more privacy but for me it was fine.
Accueil tres agreable.nourriture a disposition .
Quartier tranquille a 10 minutes a pied du centre.
Des progres a faire sur la propreté des lieux communs,la chambre est correcte.
The house of Joyce is very close to the UC California Campus. Therefore it was the perfect location for our three day stay in Berkeley were we visited our son who is currently an exchange student there. The son of Joyce welcomed us very friendly and was pretty communicative.
非常高兴再次入住JOYCE 的家。在这有热情的房东，舒适环境。还是也许有机会下次我会还是住这里。在此再感谢 Joyce Thomas 和Gerey的接待，也祝 Joyce身体健康！
