Clean, comfortable, cozy, and cool. It is a perfect place for two guests. The large kitchen will excite any chef, or take a short walk to all the best restaurants in River North. Easy access to all public transit, walk to museums, beach, shopping.

The Space

River North Apartment. Where to start...well, this apartment is at the heart of Chicago shopping, nightlife, restaurants, Oak Street beach, business, etc. Easy access to/from highway, and close to both Blue line, Red Line, and Brown Line trains. Oh...and gorgeous skyline views, walk to Grant Park, museums, Navy Pier. The apartment is in River North (Ohio & Dearborn St), 3 blocks from Michigan Avenue (Magnificent Mile) shopping, 3 blocks from the best nightlife area in Chicago, walking distance to all the best restaurants. Take the Red Line (1 block away) directly to Wrigley Field for a Cubs game, or take it south directly to Cellular One for the White Sox. Cherrywood floors, granite counters in the kitchen, balcony with a gorgeous skyline view of the north end of the Loop (which is a 10 minute walk for those that will be working downtown). Large bedroom w/ queen bed, floor to ceiling windows, large bathroom, full kitchen, washer/dryer in unit, etc. Very Spacious, well designed & decorated!! Doorman building. Many hotels are in the area because it is the center of all that Chicago has to offer. All major buses and trains are close, and hailing a taxi is simple in this area at any time of the morning/day/night. This is as good as it gets in Chicago. You will be glad you made this decision, and I am confident you will be back for more.

For those that have never visited Chicago, it does not get any easier than this. Take the train from the airport, and save yourself an expensive taxi ride. Or, if you are driving in, let me know ahead of time, and I can make arrangements for you to have a parking spot in the building (and if not in the building, then there are 2 parking structures right across the street). The area is extremely safe, so you can feel comfortable walking around here at any time of night.

Nearby attractions:
- Magnificent Mile (Michigan Avenue)
- Chicago River
- Navy Pier
- Grant Park
- Field Museum/ Shedd Aquarium/ SOLDIER FIELD!!!
- Red Line train directly to Wrigley Field or U.S. Cellular Field
- Red Line train to Lincoln Park
- Loop (business district)
- Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sears Tower)
- John Hancock Center
- Trump building
- Merchandise Mart
- Oak Street beach
- Plenty of shopping, nightlife, and restaurants on all the surrounding streets (and you will see for yourself...it's the best of the best the city offers).
-This is the area that Chicagoans go out. Don't be the tourist...meet the locals. You know the saying...'you were never really there unless you meet someone from the area'.

Interaction with Guests

I want my guests to feel that they are living in the city while renting the apartment. I want them to feel independent. That said, I am happy to meet, but will not bother you. I spend my time in the summers there on my boat, and always happy to entertain if I am in town.

The Neighborhood

River North is the best area to live in Chicago. It is very safe, very clean, and very fun. Most of the city's top restaurants are in the area, and without question, all of the best nightlife is here. Further, the 'Champs Elysees' of Chicago, known as Michigan Avenue, is nearby, so you are just blocks from one of the best shopping locations worldwide.

Getting around

Walk everywhere!! Everything you want in Chicago is within walking distance of this apartment. If you choose not to walk all over, there are several other options here.

First, you can rent a bike via (website hidden). There is a bike station close by the apartment. Tour the city by bike!! Ride a bike to the museums and leave the bike there. Walk home through the park!! Bike to the farmers market. Bike to the beach. Walk home from it all!

Second, the main subway train in downtown Chicago is the Red Line. This will take you as far south as the museums and Cellular One Field (home to the Chicago White Sox), all the way north to Wrigley Field (home to the Chicago Cubs). You are also close to the Brown Line and Blue Line trains.

Third, the best/main bus line city is Route 22. There is a bus stop right outside.

Fourth, the highway if you are driving, is just blocks from the building.

Long story short...this is the most convenient location you will ever find in Chicago.

Other Things to Note

I have seen a lot of new apartments come onto the market via Airbnb in the past year. All I can tell you is, many do look nice, and many boast about being downtown. However, to be clear, NONE are nearly in the same convenient location as my apartment. I suggest looking up locations that you would want to walk to, and you will see for yourself. As an avid fellow traveler (i spend a lot of time in Europe), I know the value of LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!! Enjoy your stay! You will be happy you took my advice! :-)

  • This was our first trip to Chicago and was more than we could ever have expected! Michael was a great host and his home was gorgeous. Everything from Navy Pier, Millennium Park, pubs, grocery stores (although Eataly is the only one you need to go to), the river, and other major tourist attractions are all within walking distance. Everything is so close that we were embarrassed when taking an Uber (cab) to the Sear's & John Hancock towers. His guidebook on Airbnb comes with great tips on where to go & what to do when in the city. Most of the things that we did were based off of reading the guide prior to flying in and it was perfect!

We loved Chicago - it's clean, people are friendly, great music scene, & tons of delicious food options. Thanks to Michael we were able to experience the best of Chicago. We will definitely be back for another visit! - Charelle & Tony

  • Stayed four nights at Michael's place and had a great experience. The location can't be beat if you want to stay in the heart of the city. His communication was topnotch and he even came by the first day to meet us. He emailed information to us before our arrival and this info helped us Chicago "newbies" navigate the city. If this condo has available dates for your visit to Chicago, book it!

  • Michael`s place was great. Right in the middle of everything.
All the great restaurants, magnificent mile, all walking distance.
Can`t ask for much more considering location.

As for the room itself, it was clean, roomy and had a great view.

Since it was my first time in Chicago, Michael provided me with some great information about the city. Places to eat, visit, etc...

Great host, great room, great location.
It was a great experience, I would recommend this room to anybody.
Will be back the next time I am in Chicago.

  • The stay in Chicago was excellent - and the view from Michaels 18th storey apartment (looking south over downtown) was spectacular.

The apartment is in a great neighbourhood - and if you are looking to explore further afield it is walking distance to downtown, but there is a redline (CTA / underground) station a couple of minutes walk away, and also one of the DIVVY bike stations close by too.

The apartment, and the apartment building, is finished to a very high standard, and is both comfortable and homely - but with only 3 days to try to see as much of Chicago as possible, we did not spend as much time there as we would have liked.

Michael is a font of local knowledge - from the best places to eat, places to visit, and things to do. We found his recommendations to be exactly what we were wanting too.

We loved our time in Chicago - and the biggest compliment i could give Michaels apartment is that it will be the first place we try to book when we can find the time to come back.

  • Michael Riback is an excellent host. From our first inquiry to the day we arrive, Michael provided answers to the few questions I had but went beyond my expectations. I shared that this was our first Chicago trip and Michael provided everything to enhance our fantastic visit. His listing is 100% accurate in both description and location and is Chicago at it's best. The neighborhood is in an excellent location and we felt very safe walking his neighborhood. I highly recommend Michael's apartment for it's location, clean appearance and the doormen for added comfort in a new environment. Jim

  • Our stay at Michael's could not have been more perfect...it's in a great location to everything you would want to do in the city. We bought transit passes, but rarely needed to use them as we were able to walk everywhere! The view was wonderful. Michael was very nice and very helpful...very easy to keep in contact with and made sure we had everything we needed. I would definitely stay at Michael's on any return trip to Chicago....thanks Michael for sharing your wonderful place with us!

  • It was a wonderful stay at Michael's Chicago apartment! Beautiful, comfortable and even a balcony where my husband could smoke his evening cigar! Michael is a generous host providing many amenities even down to the q-tips. He invited us to share anything that was in the apartment. Great view of the city too. I would highly recommend anyone traveling to Chicago to contact Michael.

  • Awesome place central to everything. We came for a work conference off the loop and it was easy to go exploring west of the loop (Randolph) and also to see boystown. Amazing view from the deck!

About
I am a financial professional, laid back guy. I travel often which is why I am listing my place on Airbnb. I have owned my apartment for 10 years now. It truly is a great find. I bought it due to its location ... close to EVERYTHING Chicago has to offer. I lived in Sevilla, Spain for a while, and NYC as well. I love being outdoors, boating, sports, and checking out a city's cultural events/museums, festivals, etc. I love chocolate, I love meeting new people, music, and am a total foodie. I will be delighted to host you, and to help make your stay in Chicago a memorable one. I am respectful, so please be respectful of my things as well. thank you.
