Excellent atmosphere, friendly host and a comfy bed. You won't have the place to yourself but the company is very friendly and mindful of your space.
My boyfriend and I arrived at the house around 11pm on a Friday night and luckily the host's daughter was there to show us around and get us settled in.
That king bed in the guest room made me sleep like a rock! The decorations in the room especially made us feel very relaxed, almost like we were at some zen hotel.
The only con was that the walls and ceiling were very creeky. We could hear laughing and every footstep from upstairs. If we weren't tired from walking around SF all day, I'm not sure it would have been so easy to sleep.
Unfortunately, We didn't get a chance to meet the host!
Overall, this was an amazing deal and great location. I'm glad we decided to stay in Sausalito instead of congested SF.
We were not happy here. The household was noisy, the downstairs bathroom was inaccessible at night, and the upstairs bathroom is behind a hard to open door.
I wouldn't call this amazing space, but the bed was comfortable. The mattress sits directly on the floor, so beware--that could be a problem for some. The bed is a king size pushed up against the wall and is too large for the room in my opinion, leaving too little room to move around if you bring more than a small suitcase in.
The downstairs bathroom (half-bath) was not available to us as Heidi had a personal guest staying in the room that the downstairs bathroom is off of and the upstairs bathroom is behind a hall door that is closed at night--the door is very difficult to open because the hinge is broken: I initially thought the door was locked when went to use the restroom at 5AM the first morning we were there.
There was a lot of noise in the house the Saturday night we were there. The kitchen is right above the room and that is the hub of the house, so it was a loud evening up until about 10. When Irina complained (Heidi was tenderizing meat--pound! pound! pound! pound!--try that for several minutes when it's being done directly over your room) Heidi offered to refund our money for the night, but we would need to leave--try finding a hotel on a Saturday night at 8PM in Sausalito.
The door into the residence is right next to the room and there was a fair amount of noise from people going in and out until very late. When we got up to leave Sunday morning we found the door was unlocked and I assume it had been all night.
