My husband & I decided we just had to get out of town to celebrate our Valentines Anniversary. We booked a really lovely room, overlooking the river. It was our delight to wake up to a spectacular sunrise over the water. We smelled rich roasted coffee aromas as we pranced down the wooden stairs into the airy dining area. Breakfast was delightful and the company/conversation with our Hostess brightened our day. We love this well kept secret...and can't wait to go back!
Katherine was the most amazing host!
My husband and i came to Cocoa Beach to get away from the cold of the Midwest and thought we would spend most of our time on the beach. Katherines home, overlooking the Indian River, quickly became our home away from home. In the morning, we were greated by sunshine and palm trees, wonderful coffee with light breakfast and fabulous conversation with Katherine. She is a very engaging, thoughtful host who gives you as much space as wanted. My husband and i are already planning our trip back next year and will be looking forward to staying with her again.
I really don't know where to begin. (That's good, not bad!) This was my first experience as an "air boy", my nickname for one who uses Airbnb. I drove up to a stunning riverfront home, and was at first saddened to see that it is in need of re painting. But then I saw that that is already a work in progress and soon was greeted by Katherine (Kathy) who enthusiastically showed me through her beautifully decorated and renovated home. Spacious, open, bright and cheerful with numerous comfortable seating areas in the "public space" -- practically the whole house -- I felt like I had a boutique hotel all to myself. Except that Kathy was there in the evening and we enjoyed a lengthy and very pleasant conversation about food and the food business, healthy diet and poor choices made by many parents who prepare food separately for their children and themselves--all too often indulging their children's television induced taste for empty calories and prepared foods, travel, and available local restaurant choices. Kathy is a delightful and engaging host who clearly loves what she does and shares her joy for living with any who care to listen.
The bedroom I stayed in overlooked the river. It was spacious and impeccably decorated (perhaps a little too "pro decorator" for my personal taste, but that's part of the joy of travel--variety). This room has a private bath, or should I say "spa". One enters a capacious room with open jacuzzi bath and shower arrangement, live plant garnishing the lovely tub, ornamental towels hung conveniently nearby and a double sink from which to "work". There is a closer to the side that would house my entire wardrobe and there are candles and a variety of soap choices available.
I felt pampered, comfortable, befriended and at home during my entire stay. Only regret not having more time to linger and enjoy my surroundings. Even an old high school friend whose mother lives down the river, and who grew up in Cocoa said she'd love to come back and stay at this home. Go Kathy!
Katherine's house on the Indian River was a wonderful experience.
She greeted us like old friends and showed us all the wonderful places we could lounge, make coffee, and rest after what was a long day. The pillows and linens were very good quality, which matters to me. The bed was firm and i slept like the proverbial log. It was raining when I woke so did not get to experience the sunrise over the water-next time. I highly recommend you book this, especially if you are a woman alone. you will feel very safe and pampered.
We had a wonderful time staying at Katherine's beautiful home. Katherine was a wonderful host, very helpful, and easy-going. The views from her home were amazing and we enjoyed the beautiful sunrises over the Indian River. Katherine had an assortment of tea and coffee waiting for us each morning, and gave us good tips on where to eat at night. We can't wait to stay at her place again!
P.s. wish we stayed longer, lol.
Katherine was a welcoming and down to earth host. Her home is beautiful, immaculate, and a sweet reprieve. Our aesthetics were a perfect match.
My room was spacious, with a serene and scenic view of the river. I would have stayed for several more days if I had the time. The room was exceptional value for the high quality.
I will return the next time I am in the area.
Katherine was a gracious hostess. We felt welcome and very comfortable during our visit.
Her home was clean and cheerful. Her information posted was all correct. I will return in the near future this BNB.

Hello, I'm Katherine a well travelled Chef that has been trying to retire for years, but can't seem to get the kitchen out of my blood. In my travels I have had the good fortune of meeting great people that hosted me and remain my friends many years later. Perhaps as a host I can pay the experience forward. I love people, food, fun, a good cocktail and mostly laughing; any kind will do.
I live a simple, uncluttered life, as you can probably see in the pictures of my home. At this stage of my life the only things I collect are friends, love and memories.
My home is not stuffy, please put your feet up, stretch out for a snooze on the couch, my house is designed for COMFORT!
Mutual respect and clear understanding are key.
