The Claddagh is an area of the city that dates back to the 5th century. Originally, it was a small fishing village outside the city walls of medieval Galway.
In the 19th century it attracted a lot of artists and writers who spread the word about the area, increasing its notoriety internationally.
The area is most known for The Claddagh Ring, a famous design of 2 hands, a crown and heart, symbolizing love, friendship and loyalty.
Just down the road, at the river, people sit on the banks in the sun. On the Claddagh banks, parents and children feed bread to the many swans that live in the area.
If you head down to the seashore you can walk along the longest promenade in Europe towards Salthill, a bustly village by the sea.
Some great restaurants, pubs and clubs are located within walking distance of the property. I'm a bit of a foodie so I'm happy to recommend some of my favorite spots!
Off-street parking is provided so you are free to rent a car during your stay and keep it at the property for convenience.
The city center is only 9 minutes walk away, but bus services are available if required. Plenty of taxi and hackney services are also available.
It is possible to walk to the property from the bus/train station and will normally take about 20 minutes to cover the 1500m. If you have heavy luggage I would recommend grabbing a taxi.

We had a lovely stay in Eugene's terrace house; it was absolutely spotless when we arrived and situated very conveniently to the city. Eugene has also provided a very comprehensive User's Manual for the property and city highlights - highly recommended.
Just as advertised. The place has a lot of simple extras that really make it nice. If you think you need something, look around; Eugene has probably thought of it. Feels like home. The linens and pillows were especially nice.
The apartment was lovely; just as presented. Eugene was a great host. He left a fantastic book of recommendations that were spot on. Our only note was that we were asked not to shower before 8 a.m. Or after 9p.m. Due to extreme loudness of shower system bothering the neighbors. (It WAS very loud) that seemed a reasonable request until we had travel delays and arrived late after 12+ hours of planes, trains, and automobiles, then we felt a little put out by it. Still, overall, it's a great place and I do recommend it!
This place in Galway was perfect! It was very homey and welcoming. The host was very responsive if you needed anything. It was definitely a professional setup. There was a typed and laminated booklet of things to do as well as helpful house tips we found to be very useful. The place was clean and very modern. Bare necessities were provided such as umbrellas, towels, washer & dryer, dishes and dish detergent, cleaning supplies, condiments in the fridge, spices, coffee, tea, sugar, etc. There was even onsite parking in a driveway. The only thing to note is that the shower can be pretty loud when in use and it's suggested to use 8am-9pm to avoid waking anyone up. We loved this place though and found many restaurants and shops to be easily accessed by foot. Would love to stay again when visiting.
Very pretty apartment in wonderful location with great views! Well furnished and comfortable space for four people. Nice walk following the water into the city. Slightly restrictive shower schedule but overall really fabulous apartment.
Eugene's house was perfect for our young family for a 2 night stopover in Galway. It was spotlessly clean, beds were very comfortable and there were lots of essential's ready for us to use. There is a great playground close by and the city centre is within easy walking distance (we did it with a 3yo and 1yo). We will definitely stay again if we are ever in Galway and would definitely stay for longer next time. Parking was also a great plus!
This is a wonderful place! Perfect location- stunning! So many little extras! Highly recommend this!!

About the Host, Eugene
I'm an out-going, entrepreneurial type. I've always got some hair-brained idea on my mind! I'm a qualified biomedical engineer but hospitality and food/drink are passions of mine. I love travelling, discovering new cities and meeting new people, so I've worked in hospitality since leaving college, adding property and holiday letting into the mix since July 2013.
I practice Bikram yoga for fitness and sanity, but I balance it out with a healthy affection for red wine. :)The engineer in me is always looking for something new to learn, so my interests are varied and change often.
I fall more and more in love with Galway each year. The food scene here is vibrant and exciting, the arts are everywhere and the atmosphere is laid back and friendly.
I've lived here all my life, so I'm more than happy to help you with any questions you may have about the city or surrounding area.
My life motto: Carpe Diem
My family has been letting property for over 30 years so we know a thing or two about making people feel welcome and comfortable.
I take a hands-off approach to hosting. I'll be in touch before you arrive to ensure you know where you're going. When you arrive, you'll be able to collect the keys using instructions that I'll send you. Of course, I'm available if you have any questions during your stay.
