The Claddagh is an area of the city that dates back to the 5th century. Originally, it was a small fishing village outside the city walls of medieval Galway.
In the 19th century it attracted a lot of artists and writers who spread the word about the area, increasing its notoriety internationally.
The area is most known for The Claddagh Ring, a famous design of 2 hands, a crown and heart, symbolizing love, friendship and loyalty.
Just down the road, at the river, people sit on the banks in the sun. On the Claddagh banks, parents and children feed bread to the many swans that live in the area.
If you head down to the seashore you can walk along the longest promenade in Europe towards Salthill, a bustly village by the sea.
Some great restaurants, pubs and clubs are located within walking distance of the property. I'm a bit of a foodie so I'm happy to recommend some of my favorite spots!
Off-street parking is provided so you are free to rent a car during your stay and keep it at the property for convenience.
The city center is only 9 minutes walk away, but bus services are available if required. Plenty of taxi and hackney services are also available.
It is possible to walk to the property from the bus/train station and will normally take about 20 minutes to cover the 1500m. If you have heavy luggage I would recommend grabbing a taxi.

This is a gorgeous, spacious, well-decorated two-story flat on a quiet street just a block away from Galway's gorgeous coastline and only 10 minutes' walk from the heart of the city.
Eugene is polite, attentive, and has written his own extremely helpful guidebook for making the most out of this flat's amenities as well as what to see, do, and eat while visiting Galway.
I stayed here with a friend over St. Patrick's Day and it was absolutely perfect! I would absolutely stay here again and I do hope to make it back to Galway soon. Ireland's west coast is magical.
We had an amazing time in Galway and Eugene was a wonderful host! The house was charming, clean, and so well decorated! You felt at home immediately. It was also nice to have the convenience of a washer, dryer, and kitchen on vacation! I would definitely recommend staying with Eugene, and he has wonderful recommendations for what to do in town!
We loved everything about our AirBnb experience in Galway! Eugene was an excellent host! Even though we didn't have the pleasure of meeting him, the house manual was so helpful and laid out everything we needed to know for our stay. He was also great at responding to our messages right away before our visit, which made the planning process stress free. The house was beautiful and clean and you couldn't beat the location. Just a quick walk to town and to the bay. Everything about our stay was wonderful! We wish we could have stayed longer.
The house was very clean and well equipped. Detailed and comprehensive information in the visitor folder. Equidistant between Salthill and Galway. We walked into Salthill in 15 minutes. The street was quiet and residential. Would recommend.
This lovely, quaint, clean, and modern house had ultimately made our trip in Ireland. I cannot imagine any other place more suitable for our needs than this one. My friend and I stayed in this house for a month. We were 10- 15 min away (by walking) from city centre (bars, restaurants, shopping), and there was a grocery store 7 min away. A beautiful view of the water was right outside our door. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Eugene, but he was extremely quick to answer any question we had throughout the trip. We had someone come to change our towels and sheets every Tuesday. The kitchen was fully equipped and a washer and dryer was also provided. Internet access was provided as well. If we return to Ireland, we hope to stay in this place again! Don't miss out on this house. Book now!
Eugene was extremely easy to deal with and was really prompt in responding to any of my questions. The whole weekend went smoothly and the house was exactly as described. A really nice place in a perfect spot as well. Would definitely book again.
House was exactly as described very clean and really well dressed. Perfect distance from galway city. Eugene couldn't have been more helpfull

I'm an out-going, friendly, entrepreneurial type. I've always got some hair-brained idea on my mind! I did Biomedical Engineering in university but never ended up going into it. I love food, travel and meeting new people, so I've worked in hospitality since college, adding property and holiday letting into the mix since July 2013.
I'm a bit addicted to Bikram Yoga right now but I balance it out with a healthy affection for red wine. :)The engineer in me is always looking for something new to learn, so my interests are many and they change often.
I fall more and more in love with Galway each year. The food scene here is vibrant and exciting, the arts are everywhere and the atmosphere is laid back and friendly.
I've lived here all my life, so I'm more than happy to help you with any questions you may have about the city or surrounding area.
My family has been letting for over 25 years so we know a thing or 2 about making people feel welcome and comfortable.
We take a hands-off approach to hosting. We'll be in touch before you arrive to ensure you know where you're going. When you arrive, we'll meet you at the property to introduce ourselves, show you around and hand over the keys. Of course, we are available if you have any questions during your stay.
