The Space

(in a single room w/ shared bathroom)

This is an ideal space for a professional women, a young adult woman branching out on her own (read: internship or moving to the (email hidden) or even a mom/grandmom. As parents to "20-somethings", we offer a safe, comfortable place to stay - with the perks of being on your own but the concern and assistance afforded our own children - if needed. :)

Mountain View is in the heart of the Silicon Valley - home to the #1 search engine company (whose name gets removed from this description) and host to many start-up accelerators.

By car, we are just 15 -20 min no. of the San Jose Airport, 45 min no. of Santa Cruz Beach/Boardwalk, 50 min so. of San Francisco City and 15 minutes so. of Stanford University.

Safe, quiet neighborhood with plenty of parking. 1/4 mile from chain grocery and drug stores.

Guest Access

You will have your own private bedroom, shared use of the guest bath (though you have first dibs), kitchen and back yard (complete with lounge chairs and outdoor dining). WIFI thoughout. We also have an "Airbnb bike" which you may use if you wish (thanks previous guest, Ben!).

Interaction with Guests

We chat with our guests as much or as little as they wish. ;) We're here to offer support, suggestions, and help if needed.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is clean, safe and accessible to everything you need to make your stay a comfortable and enjoyable one.

Getting around

MV does have bus service and there is light rail train to other major cities. However, it is not as developed as a major city. It is really important that you check into the routes and times if you are traveling to our city w/o a car.

We offer an "Airbnb" bike that our guests may use to get around, if they are w/o a car. We are 2 miles from downtown Mountain View, which is a lovely, flat and safe bike ride away.

  • Deb and John are very nice. Many many thanks for them. They gave me a perfect journey.
They took me to Stanford, and helped me to find the tour center. I have a nice day there.
They gave me a bike, which helped me to visit many places.
Anyway, if you want to go there, please just contact them, if they still have the room, take it. You will appreciate~
Deb and John, hope you have good health. Be happy!
    Best wishes!

  • Deb is probably the most friendly person you will ever meet in Mountain View. She keeps a beautiful, clean home, and is incredible generous sharing whatever is being made in the kitchen! Her husband Jon is a very nice man and also bakes amazing things from time-to-time. The bathroom was stocked with an array of nice soaps, conditioners, bath gels, and the like. The bedroom was easily big enough for 1 person and the bed was extremely comfortable. Deb also made me feel at home, leaving me sweet notes and fresh flowers in my room! She is an ultra-mom and it shows. The only warning - if you are not a cat person, there are 5 of them, so be sure to note that when considering a stay at Deb's.

For anyone in the YC or 500 startups accelerators, this is a perfect place to stay as long as you have a car.

  • Deb and John were extremely nice. At one point they left flowers on my bedside table with a nice note. The room was clean, and the wifi worked well. All in all a great experience.

  • What a lovely home and the family!!! I felt welcomed from the moment I arrived even it was late in the evening.
The house is in a quiet residential street with an easy access to roads and shops. I drove to Stanford University each day and it only takes 15 minutes without traffic.
House is well furnished with a beautiful back garden which looks like it holds lots of memories for the family.
Not only I had a great stay, I feel I have made new friends which will be sure to visit each other in the future.
I recommend the home and the hosts with highest marks.
P.S. they are very talented family and should ask to see some of their works. Intriguing, no?

  • My mother stayed with Deb this past weekend. I had her type up the following review:

I stayed with Deb and John for two nights over Mother's Day weekend. Their home is beautiful, very welcoming and very comfortable and clean. Deb and John are wonderfully kind and upbeat folks, and it was a pleasure to stay with them. The bedroom was great, with a very comfortable bed, closet space, and a spacious (shared) bathroom adjacent. There was never any issue with sharing the bathroom. I appreciated Deb and John's warm welcome and attention to my comfort.

  • Gatta House is perfectly located within minutes to both Los Altos & Mt. View downtowns. Deb & John have immaculate taste and very accommodating as hosts. I would stay @Gatta House every chance I get when I'm in the area. Thanks for having me,

  • Debs house was great. You'll stay in a small adorably decorated room. I didn't stay long enough to tell you much other than I would stay there again and everyone was very friendly.

Best time of my life was a semester abroad, junior year in college and the backpacking trip around Europe after that. Next 5 places I want to visit: Vancouver, Alaska, Russia, Japan, Africa My kids will tell you I "made" them go to Cuernavaca, Mexico for 3 week Spanish immersion programs, twice (the summers before their 7th and 11th grades). I am hoping that someday soon they will appreciate it... :) Both times we had wonderful host families that we still stay in touch with over(website hidden) It would make me so happy if they would stay with me so I could return the hospitality... Still working on that. :) With my kids off to college, I have enjoyed hosting (especially younger adults) to take my mind off of my own "kids" while they're away at school.
