About this listing
Our Santa Fe styled pueblo sits on top of Long Butte six (6) miles
north of Bend on a beautiful rimrock and a 180+ view east to west
overlooking the City of Bend and a stunning view of the Cascade mountains. Please note: we have another room here as well-room with mountain views scroll down to find.Note, follow directions on listing;(website hidden) map is currently in error.I need to add at this point, that we don't allow babies as we have other guests to be concerned about and this is not a child friendly casa.I am sorry this has to be.
We offer the master bedroom with a luxury bath including double sinks, a walk-in double headed travertine stone shower and a
whirlpool Jacuzzi tub. You will have your own entrance with a
lovely little stone courtyard to enjoy your tea or coffee watching the sun come up. A queen size bed, table and chairs, internet
connection and TV are yours to enjoy.
Guests are free to be private or utilize three other courtyards and
the west end deck to watch the last rays of the sun. Also, we have
a beautiful stone fireplace in the living room to enjoy on the cooler
evenings. A stone patio with benches and a small clay fireplace sits outside the southern bedroom wall for your use.
Our Casa is in the High Desert area of sagebrush, rock outcroppings and ancient junipers (like large Bonsai trees)
where in winter we have much less snow and it is warmer than south and west Bend.Less shade and more sun.
Watch the weather fronts move over the Cascades. Oh, and a
tipi is set-up in the warmer months.
A feeling of privacy exists on our 5 acres where you can frequently see deer below; or, at the birdfeeders, raptors catching the thermals and migratory birds feed and water outside the windows.
Being on a butte with four main roads below means many people enjoy the routes to bicycle and get their burn coming up and
racing down again. Two routes pass over the nearby Deschutes
River with fishing, hiking trails, kyaking and swimming available.
Smith Rocks State Park (world class) climbing and hiking area
is fourteen miles north of us, the Redmond airport, easy access to Highway 20 to Sisters, OR, the wilderness area of the Badlands is east, not far away, and the north end shopping malls
of Bend to our south.
A perfect get-away for the writer, artist, both for the stunning open
sky views, desert terrain and sense of peace and creativity.
A treadmill is available as is a continental breakfast or a full old
fashioned styled one. We use healthy foods.
A second guest bedroom is also available. Want a different Bend
experience, come enjoy an amazing place, where at night, the lights of Bend seem like the shore seen from a boat, and away
from the City lights glow, see a sparkling night sky. We have
plenty of parking.

Sonnie and Wayne were very accommodating and flexible with us! They worked with our schedule changes and our family which was highly appreciated. They made a delicious crepe breakfast for us and had some nice conversations! Wayne was in many ways reminded us of my father-in-law, in the best ways, making the stay feel that much warmer. The house is beautiful and we loved the peace of being out of the city but still only 15 min from the downtown breweries! The view was exquisite and we were able to do some great stargazing and see hot air balloons!
Wayne and Sonnie were great! Very nice to be around, I felt like part of the family.
Wayne and Sonni are kind & wonderful hosts who were very accommodating. Their place is peaceful and inviting and Wayne rocks a mad breakfast! Thank you both for welcoming us !
Much love & health,

We had a great stay at Wayne and Sonnie's! They were gracious hosts and the room was exactly as pictured. Wayne cooked us breakfast each morning of our stay and offered helpful tips on things to see/do in Bend. I highly recommend staying here!
Sonnie and Wayne were great hosts. The breakfast was delicious and we felt very comfortable hanging out in the kitchen.Sonnie even drove with me to a Mexican restaurant since I'm horrible with directions so I can pick up dinner. They were both very gracious and accommodating. I think the best part of the stay was just talking to them and seeing the wildlife. One thing different than expected was that there wasn't an easy way to get to the front door. I was there with my grandma who has difficulty walking and it wasn't made clear to me that the pathway was sloped and would be very hard for her to navigate, even though I mentioned it when inquiring about the room. Another thing to note is that the bed in the master bedroom was full rather than queen size. I don't think the description specified the bed size so I was expecting at least a queen size bed. It was a very comfortable room and I liked the big ensuite bathroom.
I had a decent stay at this location. The view was one of the best things and the shower was awesome. The room was clean and very Santa Fe style. The host greeted us while on the phone which was kind of rude. He showed us his house and our room and immediately began complaining about the previous guest stealing his pillow which I found a little off putting. I know he was attempting to be kind and make our stay comfortable but offering somebody cannabis in the first 5 minutes of arrival is kind of weird. In the morning we ended up leaving earlier than anticipated. We sent him a note letting him know we weren't going to make it for breakfast and thanked him for the stay. Within 20 minutes he calls my girlfriends phone complaining that he was upset that we didn't say goodbye or eat his breakfast that he got up at 6:30 to make for us which we never had even set a time to eat. I found his complaint very unprofessional and took offense that he called me rude and assumed that I must do stuff like this all the time. Although this stay wasn't my style I can see how many others can enjoy what Wayne has to offer at his establishment. Great view and company if that's what your into. I myself enjoy the peace and quite of being with my girlfriend.
Our stay here was peaceful and restorative. Wayne made us feel very welcome and made a fantastic breakfast the next morning. The perfect balance of retreat and connection to hosts. Plus, we could be downtown in less than 10 minutes.
