north of Bend on a beautiful rimrock and a 180+ view east to west
overlooking the City of Bend and a stunning view of the Cascade mountains. Please note: we have another room here as well-room with mountain views scroll down to find.Note, follow directions on listing;(website hidden) map is currently in error.
We offer the master bedroom with a luxury bath including double sinks, a walk-in double headed travertine stone shower and a
whirlpool Jacuzzi tub. You will have your own entrance with a
lovely little stone courtyard to enjoy your tea or coffee watching the sun come up. A queen size bed, table and chairs, internet
connection and TV are yours to enjoy.
Guests are free to be private or utilize three other courtyards and
the west end deck to watch the last rays of the sun. Also, we have
a beautiful stone fireplace in the living room to enjoy on the cooler
evenings. A stone patio with benches and a small clay fireplace sits outside the southern bedroom wall for your use.
Our Casa is in the High Desert area of sagebrush, rock outcroppings and ancient junipers (like large Bonsai trees)
where in winter we have much less snow and it is warmer than south and west Bend.Less shade and more sun.
Watch the weather fronts move over the Cascades. Oh, and a
tipi is set-up in the warmer months.
A feeling of privacy exists on our 5 acres where you can frequently see deer below; or, at the birdfeeders, raptors catching the thermals and migratory birds feed and water outside the windows.
Being on a butte with four main roads below means many people enjoy the routes to bicycle and get their burn coming up and
racing down again. Two routes pass over the nearby Deschutes
River with fishing, hiking trails, kyaking and swimming available.
Smith Rocks State Park (world class) climbing and hiking area
is fourteen miles north of us, the Redmond airport, easy access to Highway 20 to Sisters, OR, the wilderness area of the Badlands is east, not far away, and the north end shopping malls
of Bend to our south.
A perfect get-away for the writer, artist, both for the stunning open
sky views, desert terrain and sense of peace and creativity.
A treadmill is available as is a continental breakfast or a full old
fashioned styled one. We use healthy foods.
A second guest bedroom is also available. Want a different Bend
experience, come enjoy an amazing place, where at night, the lights of Bend seem like the shore seen from a boat, and away
from the City lights glow, see a sparkling night sky. We have
plenty of parking.
Unfortunately we do not allow guest pets cats or dogs.We have a dog,but she never is allowed in the guests bedrooms.Ginger sleeps in the garage studio with me or in the living room. There is a pet sitter down the street;a guest dog could be with Ginger and I in the garage/studio and could be in the house during the day-No bedrooms,EVER.., Thank you for choosing us,Wayne,Sonnie.
What an amazing find! Wayne and Sonnie are wonderful hosts, and their casa is beautiful! The views are simply breathtaking, from Mt. Bachelor, the Sisters, Mt. Jefferson, and Mt. Washington to the star filled sky on a clear night, it is one of a kind! Wayne is very knowledgeable about the local music scene and a great cook! The blueberry oatmeal pancakes are amazing but the quiche on the second day was no slouch either. For some reason that morning I had an unbelievable appetite. I felt like I could have eaten the whole table. Wayne is also a talented jewelry artist. Lynn bought a very unique amber necklace with an agate pendant, and a pair of earnings that she has worn every day since. The Santa Fe Pueblo will be first on our list for our next visit.
Wayne and Sonnie are great hosts and just all around lovely people. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a warm fire and instantly felt relaxed and at home. Breakfast was delicious and the coffee never seemed to end :) Thank you so much for a wonderful time, accommodating our special needs, and sharing your beautiful home with us!
our stay was very good and the pueblo was as advertised. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. We will come back
This is THE place to stay if visiting Bend. What wonderful hosts Wayne and Sonnie are, not to mention the fabulous full breakfasts and gorgeous house with a beautiful view of the snow capped peaks. This was out first airbnb experience and I can only imagine it will be hard to find another one as fantastic as this one was. It made our trip to Bend very memorable!
My girlfriend and I stayed with Wayne and Sonnie in their amazing pueblo style house for three nights just recently. Being that both of us are in love with the Southwest, we had been dying to get out to Bend/Central Oregon. I cannot imagine having a better experience than we did staying with them. They were so accommodating as well as warm and friendly. They made us a delicious breakfast each morning as well as dinner the last evening we were there. On top of that, they were very friendly and pleasant to converse with. The Pueblo is absolutely stunning. Beautifully built, it sits at the edge of a butte with a panoramic view of the Cascade mountains. The location is perfect, very close to Bend, Smith Rock, etc. We plan on visiting Bend often and cannot wait to stay with Wayne and Sonnie each time.
All and all, it was one of the best experiences of my life. I also asked my girlfriend to marry me out there (she said yes!) and I couldn't have picked a better place to do it (Smith Rock). Can't wait to go back!
My wife and I changed our travel plans when we came across this Santa Fe Pueblo just outside of Bend. We are so happy that we did!
Wayne and Sonnie are amazing hosts and their home reflects their labor of love. Their casa is perched on a cliff overlooking Bend and a beautiful high desert valley. Wayne is an artist and he meticulously designed and attended every detail of the building and decorating of this pueblo style home. We felt like we were staying in a beautiful, private resort.
Our bedroom was spacious and relaxing and the bathroom was very large and thoughtfully appointed. The suite was private and very quiet as well.
Wayne cooked us a delicious breakfast and we enjoyed talking to Sonnie and him over several cups of coffee. It was like having breakfast with family.
Our only regret is that we did not have more time to enjoy the beautiful views from this awesome retreat! Thank you Wayne and Sonnie!
My girlfriend and I stayed for a night in this beautiful house just a few minutes north of Bend, and upon arrival wished we had booked for longer. Wayne was a gracious host. The house is incredible inside and out. The master bedroom has a comfortable bed. The master bathroom is luxurious with a dual-headed shower and a Jacuzzi tub. Breakfast was delicious (blueberry oatmeal pancakes). Wayne also accommodates dietary restrictions, which is great. I highly recommend this place to any couples looking for a Bend-area getaway.
Sonny was a warm host with a flair for conversation and making a yummy breakfast. The pueblo was a fun and eclectic collection of rock, southwest art and architecture. We appreciated the flexibility in accommodating our last minute needs.
What a beautiful place to stay. Our room was comfortable, beautifully decorated, and we had a comfortable bed to sleep on. After days of camping and hiking the jet bath tub was a huge plus. Sonnie was gone, but Wayne was our host. We enjoyed our conversations with he and the two other guests. The view from this pueblo is spectacular. Wayne is quite the artist and the entire home is so tastefully decorated. I love rocks so I was in heaven there. Wayne's studio is a must see too. I would recommend this airbnb to any and everyone. Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you about their sweet dog Ginger. She acted like the official greeter!!! We'll go back to this place!!
Sue and I had a wonderful time with Wayne and Sonnie. Their home is absolutely magical. They are warm, friendly and helpful. The time spent around the table eating Wayne's wonderful breakfasts and sharing talk of the days activities with Wayne, Sonnie and fellow guests was a real treat. I'm pretty sure we will head back there before long.
