Wow! What a great place to stay in San Miguel de Allende! Close to everything but very restful. The roof terrace is unbelievable, and the people are super kind. I locked myself out but into the house (the front door was locked tight by me), and though I would not recommend doing this yourself, they came to let me out quick and with a smile.

Pros: Primo location on a quiet street. Great shower pressure and plentiful hot water. Cute little serviceable kitchen. Gas fireplace puts out cozy warmth on cold nights. Cons: It's way smaller than it appears in the photos. Make sure you are good friends with your traveling companion, especially if you are planning to stay for more than a few nights. Accessed via a narrow spiral staircase--and an even more treacherous, narrower spiral staircase to terrace. Consequently, we did not spend any time on the terrace.

Great stay! This is a cute little studio that was perfect for my boyfriend and me to stay for just a couple of nights. May be a little snug for long periods of time if there's more then one person. Clean, great water temperature and heat and I especially loved the roof top that I could read with a lovely view of the city. It's on a quiet street about a five minute walk from mercado Ignacia Ramirez and about 15-20 minutes to the centro. Marciela helped us to book a transfer from the airport as we arrived late Christmas night and we were able to get keys from the driver.

A very easy stay in a great location. Just a quick walk to the heart of San Miguel, this is a steal for your money. The managers are very accommodating and work to make you at home. Light up the fire, have a cup of coffee on the rooftop, and say hello to your neighbors here. So glad I booked this spot and if I ever find myself in San Miguel again, I'll definitely try to land this place!

I have always loved to fix and design. When I began my real estate career, selling new construction homes, I soon realized that the best part of the job was meeting with interior designers and architects and watching as the more artistic elements of the construction fell into place. After 13 years of owning a real estate company, I built two spec homes on magical Orcas Island in Washington State. Then I undertook a major remodel of a cabin on the water. Something clicked in me during that process of transforming the cabin; I knew I had found my passion….remodeling.

Throughout the next twelve years, I transformed some 30 rather creaky homes into fresh, livable residences, all in the Seattle area. Then I decided to turn my attention to designing and remodeling vacation homes; vacation rentals with personality. In 2005, I moved to Mexico, the land of color and craft, and began working there. In 2010 I did a remodel of a 1928 two bedroom apartment in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Then back to Mexico in 2011.

The most exciting phase of building a new place is when everything gets pulled together. I love the details, making sure that one thing plays with another in perfect harmony. I’m always on the hunt for that specific hand-selected ingredient. The beauty of Latin America is being able to design a particular piece that can be made by one of the many talented artisans. Seeing it all come together like a glorious puzzle is very rewarding.

Be my guest at one of eight different and individually unique accommodations in San Miguel de Allende:
“Casa Artistas” on San Francisco Street has a one bedroom casita and two studio apartments with kitchenettes, the Frida and Diego Studios.
”Casa de la Vista, a movie star hide-away” is a three bedroom view home on Salida a Queretaro.
“The Actors Studios” is on Animas Street. It consists of four apartments with kitchens and fireplaces…the Salma Hayek, the Ricardo Montalban, the Dolores del Rio and the Anthony Quinn.

And while you’re at it, check out the “House of Chanel”, a historical, art deco two bedroom apartment in Buenos Aires.
