The Space

simply furnished 1B apartment in heart of east village. open, minimal, uncluttered feel and the living room is drenched in sunlight. very comfortable queen bed with nice linens. perfect for one or two people.

It's fully equipped with wifi, AC, heat and full kitchen, however no TV -- but the entertainment options in the neighborhood are endless. everything you need is within a few blocks away from great dining, bars, lounges, coffee shops, cool boutiques ... you name it.

very close to other downtown neighborhoods like the LES, soho, west village. all are a short walking distance away. three subway lines are near.

I will leave you a list of local spots to help you out.

  • The apartment is good but a bit round down. Missing baulb at the living room, very durty couch and the bathroom is awfull! The pictures doesn't match what it is at all. Martin is nice but he was not in NYC.

  • Great neighborhood, but the apartment was filthy. I think the cleaning service used by the owner while he is out of town is pretty awful. Thank goodness I arrived before the cleaners left so that I could see how dirty they were leaving the place. I also saw the mattress before sheets were put on it and it was horribly stained. The cleaner should have told the owner about that but they hadn't. The cleaners' excuse for leaving the flat dirty was that they didn't have cleaning supplies, so I had to take them to a dollar store and buy supplies for them and clean with them until 8pm. I have informed the owner, so I hope he changes his cleaner to someone more honest and reliable. I also hope he will refund the cleaning fee I paid.

This is not really a 1 bedroom, because there is a big cutout of the wall between the bedroom and the rest of the flat. I would consider this more like a studio. The flat is furnished simply but functionally. I liked that better than having to deal with a bunch of clutter. Only thing missing was a table and some chairs. You have to eat on the sofa. The bathroom is tiny, which is typical of that neighborhood. The shower stall is very very narrow, so I would recommend the owner change out the shower head to something more suitable for that space. If you are a larger / taller person, it may not be possible to use the shower at all. Internet worked well, stove was functional. Basic kitchen equipment was there (although quite dirty- I had to scrub everything a few times before using). Plenty of good towels that the cleaners had laundered were provided.

Because there are restaurants on the ground floor, this apartment is actually a fourth floor walk up, rather than a third floor apartment. The stairs are quite steep, so beware if you have any mobility issues.

The owner was fairly responsive and communicative, but I do think he has been taken advantage of by his cleaners while he is out of the city.

This apartment has a lot of potential if some of the cleanliness issues can be fixed.

  • A great flat right in the middle of an excellent neighborhood. Clean, simple and perfect as a base for exploring Manhatten. As I practice a lot of Yoga, this was also a great living room for rolling out the mat in the morning before having an espresso at Abruco nearby. Bathroom is indeed very tiny, but thats NYC,... and if you can deal with that, it's a perfect flat. Thanks Martin. Professional, simple communication,...I would return.

  • Simple and well-appointed lodgings. Nice and quiet. This home is an ideal launching point for exploring the East Village, Nolita, Soho, Alphabet City. Steps away from a multitude of bar restaurants and Tompkins Square Park. Would totally stay there again!
