Enjoy your own room and bathroom in a cute little eastside bungalow just a 15 minute walk from lively East 6th Street!

The space

Great location, right near Boggy Creek Park/E 7th Street! Your bedroom is in its own wing with its own bathroom and features a comfy queen futon with springs that make it feel like a firm mattress rather than a futon. For an extra fee ($25 per person), we can accommodate up to 4 people by putting a queen air mattress on the ground in this room. There's also a big fenced-in yard with fire pit, kitchen fully-stocked with appliances/utensils, dining area, private bathroom, laundry room with washer/dryer, wi-fi, Wii, Netflix, easy parking... and, most importantly, it's close enough to walk to events that are downtown!

We are conveniently located near East 6th Street (home to the Grackle, Liberty, Shangri-La, Whisler's and more) and epicenter of many more bars and outdoor stages during the SXSW), East 5th Street (Yellow Jacket Social Club, White Horse, the ND), East 8th Street (French Legation), East 11th Street (Longbranch, Kenny Dorham's Backyard), East 12th Street (King Bee, Full Circle), Weberville (Lost Well, Gourmands, Dog + Duck Pub). We are also just several blocks from an HEB grocery store for all your grocery/beer shopping needs, and close to multiple food trailer parks and restaurants (Blue Dahlia, Franklin Barbecue, Casa Colombia, Takoba, Justine's, Hillside Farmacy, Eastside Showroom, Buenos Aires Cafe, Quickie Pickie, Eden East, Eastside Pies, The Hightower, Paperboy and more!)

At the end of our block you'll find peaceful Rosewood/Boggy Creek Park-- a great place for walking pets, picnicking, or taking a dip in the nearby (free) public pool.

Guest access

You'll enjoy your own room and bathroom, laundry, wifi, parking, and proximity to central and east Austin!

Interaction with guests

My husband and I usually keep pretty busy, but we will help guests with as much info as they need (suggestions for restaurants, instructions for taking a bus, directions around town, etc.)

Also, our dogs Chef and Foxy are super friendly and adorable. Our two sweet cats are super shy and can mostly be found lounging in the laundry room... you may never even encounter them during your stay! :)

We enjoyed our stay. The neighborhood is a short Uber ride to almost everywhere. But foremost, Veronica and Carson are wonderful hosts, providing us with superb concert and food recommendations! Thank you!

I didn't see an awful lot of Veronica and Carson during my stay but when I did they were very nice and welcoming. The house is in a great location. Just a short walk to bars and food trucks around East Austin or a short uber ride downtown. On the negative side... I was kind of embarrassed to mention it at the time but both the bedroom and bathroom could've done with a clean before I arrived. I mean, if I had guests coming (paying or otherwise) I would at least make sure the toilet was clean. Which it wasn't. And neither was the bath. The cat hair on the bedspread wasn't so great either. Maybe I'm just being picky. I'm sure it was all an oversight because they'd both been busy but the whole enterprise just felt ill prepared and amateurish compared to other airbnb places I stayed at on the same trip. For the same sort of price, I would add. Also Veronica double booked me and I ended up having to move out a day before I planned to. To be fair she did give me plenty of notice and it wasn't really any hassle to find somewhere else. Just would've been nice not to have had to deal with relocating on the last day of my vacation. Actually strike that... I was actually pretty glad to get out and move into the new place as it turned out. I don't like to be negative and I feel bad for not saying something at the time but, like I said, I was kinda embarrassed.

Response from Veronica:
All I can say is... wow. It is true I wasn't around much since I was out of the country for the first two days of your stay and then insanely busy catching up when I returned, but I was sure to message you and make sure everything was up to par and none of this was mentioned! It's a bit unfair to not say a thing and then give someone a bad review! Also I will say that we've never received a review saying things weren't clean enough!! In your private comments you also seem miffed we weren't around and didn't offer food or beer! I've never had someone take off points for the hosts not being present and nowhere in our description is food or beer mentioned! It's certainly not a prerequisite for airbnb... And if you wanted a place offering such things, you should've booked elsewhere. Sorry you weren't pleased with your experience but again, it would've been nice to hear ANY of this feedback during your pretty lengthy stay.

Our stay with Veronica and Carson worked well for us. And why wouldn't it? Veronica is a travel writer and Carson is a local chef - so between them that had all the up-to-date local knowledge that we needed to make our stay on Austin a success. They are also really open and warm people - so we soon felt at home. We had everything that we needed at their home - and their two dogs were a real bonus for my son Charlie. The house is within walking distance of some of the neighbourhoods that we wanted to spend time in - and given the way that Uber works in Austin, it was cheap and easy to get to most of the places we needed to get too.

Veronica was super welcoming and accommodating! Her dogs are just the best and it was pretty much the perfect place to stay for SXSW - close to the action, quiet, friendly, and fun. She was super flexible, communicative, provided great coffee, toiletries, and towels, and really made us feel at home. Would totally stay again and highly recommend it.

Though I only had the pleasure of staying one night in this bungalow, Veronica & Carson were such wonderful hosts! So communicative, and available, and their house was very comfortable for my stay. Wish I could've stayed longer! But will surely consider their home for a return visit.

I am a freelance journalist who writes mainly about food and travel so I am often on the road and love using Airbnb! My husband Carson and I live in Austin, where there is ALWAYS something fun to: seeing live music (of course!), discovering swimming holes, hiking on the Greenbelt, yoga (at one of our awesome donation-based studios!), relaxing at Barton Springs with a book, exploring the city by bike (it's a very bikeable place to live!), picnicking (possible year-round!), kayaking on Ladybird Lake, eating our way through all the delicious restaurants and food trucks, bar-hopping, two-stepping at one of our city's remaining honkytonks, BYOB mini golf & rollerskating, karaoke, bowling, lots of driveable and delectable Texan daytrips, sporting events ranging from beer league softball to minor league baseball to college football....not to mention, there seems to be a festival of some sort almost every weekend here!

Hope to meet you soon, either in our city or yours!
