Great location, right near Boggy Creek Park/E 7th Street! Your bedroom is in its own wing with its own bathroom and features a comfy queen futon with springs that make it feel like a firm mattress rather than a futon. For an extra fee ($25 per person), we can accommodate up to 4 people by putting a queen air mattress on the ground in this room, or in our office (if available). There's also a big fenced-in yard with fire pit, kitchen fully-stocked with appliances/utensils, dining area, private bathroom, laundry room with washer/dryer, wi-fi, Wii, Netflix, easy parking... and, most importantly, it's close enough to walk to events that are downtown!
We are conveniently located near East 6th Street (home to the Grackle, Liberty, Shangri-La and more) and epicenter of many more bars and outdoor stages during the SXSW), East 5th Street (Yellow Jacket Social Club, White Horse, the ND), East 8th Street (French Legation), East 11th Street (Longbranch, Trailor Space, Victory Grill, Kenny Dorham's Backyard), and East 12th Street (Club 1808, White Swan). We are also just several blocks from an HEB grocery store for all your grocery/beer shopping needs, and close to multiple food trailer parks and restaurants (Blue Dahlia, Franklin Barbecue, Casa Colombia, Takoba, Rio's Brazilian Cafe, Justine's, Hillside Farmacy, Eastside Showroom, Buenos Aires Cafe, Quickie Pickie, Eden East, La V, The Hightower and more!)
At the end of our block you'll find peaceful Rosewood/Boggy Creek Park-- a great place for walking pets, picnicking, or taking a dip in the nearby (free) public pool.
You'll enjoy your own room and bathroom, laundry, wifi, parking, and proximity to central and east Austin!
Interaction with Guests
My husband and I usually keep pretty busy, but we will help guests with as much info as they need (suggestions for restaurants, instructions for taking a bus, directions around town, etc.)
Also, our dog Chef is super friendly and adorable (yes, I'm biased but check out his photo and tell me you don't agree!) Our two cats are also adorable but will definitely hide from you for most of your stay anyway. :)
I love that our neighborhood is so central to everything, yet it's on a loop of a street nestled against a park, so it feels hidden away too. Our neighbors are all very friendly too!
Several bus stops are very close and cabs can be taken downtown for about $7.00. There is also a nearby light rail. For more detailed info on the public transporation, visit (website hidden)

Smoking is allowed outside only please! :)
Veronica and Carson ' home was perfect for my visit. I had a great time playing with the dogs. Check in was easy and well- communicated. I would definitely stay in this cozy abode again.
Veronica was an awesome host and we all enjoyed our stay with her and Chef (the sweetest dog ever)! Our room was ready for us when we got there and she was great with communication the entire time.
I really enjoyed my stay with Veronica, she was so helpful, not only with tips for Austin but for all over Texas and I was even able to stay an extra night at short notice.
I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone travelling to Austin!
Chef is the cutest dog ever!
Veronica's place was a great option for us in Austin. A short and cheap bus ride gets you quickly into the heart of town/downtown but it's walkable as well. There are some great bars this end of 6th street which aren't as crowded but just as top notch on music and atmosphere... nice local spots rather than just touristy. We only met Veronica briefly as she'd been out of town and we'd had a full schedule of stuff to get up to but she was really lovely. We spent far more time with the dog, Chef... I have since been doing a ton a research to try to find out exactly which mix of dog breeds he is as I only want a dog exactly the same as Him!
We only stayed one night and did not get a chance to see much of our hosts, but we had a very nice stay here. The house was within walking distance of downtown Austin, which was very convenient for SXSW, and their dog and cats were sweet. If you are looking for a no-hassle, economical place to stay in Austin, this is it.
Veronica and her husband Carson are super sweet hosts! Carson went out of his way to drive me to the food trucks for lunch (I didn't get to Austin until 2:30pm and I was starving), then drop me off at downtown where I was supposed to meet my friends. Veronica gave me really good tips on breakfast places around Austin. Though I spent my entire week at SXSW so I didn't see them much during my stay. And make sure to say hi to their fluffy dog Chef, who will jump up and lick you face! : ) They also have two cute but shy cats.
Location-wise: this place is safe even at night, though it is residential so very quiet. It is about 10-15 min walk to the bus stop to downtown, and the buses comes only in 20-30min intervals, so make sure you budget your time. During big festivals (like SXSW), after midnight, some cabs will refuse to take you to this area since they can't get a return fare back - which pissed me off but nothing much I can do (I show them the map on my phone), so bear this in mind.
But seriously, you can't get a better deal in Austin during SXSW! : )
I am a volunteer manager and event planner for a non-profit by day and freelance writer by night. I love traveling but I also never get bored in Austin because there is ALWAYS something fun to do here!: seeing live music (of course!), exploring swimming holes (when there's water!), hiking with my dogs, yoga (at one of our awesome donation-based studios!), relaxing at Barton Springs with a book, exploring the city by bike (it's a very bikeable place to live!), picnicking (it's possible year-round!), eating my way through all the delicious restaurants and food trucks, BYOB mini golf & rollerskating, karaoke, bowling, lots of driveable and delectablyTexan daytrips, sporting events ranging from beer league softball to minor league baseball to college football....not to mention, there seems to be a festival of some sort of another almost every weekend here!
My husband and I also love entertaining and hosting dinner parties (he's an artist, musician, and cook)... maybe you'll be lucky enough to land in Austin for one?? :)
