Located in one of Austin's most tranquil and desirable neighborhoods, Old West Austin, you will be walking distance to everything downtown has to offer! A short ten minute walk to the heart of the city will put you right in the middle of all the bar, restaurant and nightlife! An even shorter walk takes you right to the hike and bike trail, and all the water and outdoor activities Lady Bird Lake has to offer.
When you're done for the day, you will love the fact how easy it will be to get home. Most cab rides are between 5 and 7 dollars, and the bus picks and drops off two blocks from the house. You will find all the amenities to feel at home. A private drive, washer/dryer, and a private patio are just a few that set this place apart.
The home also features two spacious rooms and one full size bath. One room has a wonderful full size sofa bed, and the other with an amazingly comfortable full size slatted bed.
Wireless internet , a fully stocked Kitchen and a relaxing Bath with fresh linens are just a few of the accommodations awaiting to delight you here, yet nothing will beat being in the middle of it all !
There is no smoking inside the house at any time, but both outside patios you are more then welcome to. Also to limit the number of guests you invite over. The apartment is in a neighborhood and just as a courteous to the neighbors when it comes to noise.
Rob's place was great and just what was needed for a weekend exploring Austin. We didn't spend too much time in the apartment but it worked great for walking to downtown bars and places to eat. He was extremely responsive, providing suggestions on places to eat/go out and very easy going. Would stay with Rob again for sure.
Robert was a great host. He was very responsive and welcoming, and made sure we were settled. The neighborhood was quiet, while still being close to tons of activities, restaurants, etc. It was a great stay.
Rob was very accommodating and the apartment was perfect for us. We had no issues finding it. The area is perfect for someone wanting to explore Austin. We took Uber rides and never spent more than $10 on a trip. Highly recommend!
This was my first time using Airbnb, and it was a great experience. Robert made the whole process very easy with open and quick communication via email, phone and text.
His place is a nice space in a great neighborhood. It has a huge TV with Apple TV and a comfortable bed. I didn't spend much time there since I was working most of the time, but it was very comfortable for sleeping.
It is located in a great neighborhood, just a short walk to the west end of 6th Street. Robert recommended Clarks Seafood which is just 2 blocks away and the food and service there were awesome. I highly recommend it.
I'll definitely be back to stay there again and I highly recommend Robert as a host.
Pros: Great place! Clean, walking distance to downtown, huge TV with appleTV when staying in. Great communication with Robert before and during the stay.
Cons: Noisy neighbors upstairs late into the night (1-4am). At one point (2am) someone just started kicking and banging on our door. Was a shocking moment and made us feel uncomfortable and unsafe. If it weren't for that I would have given this place 5 stars.
Robert was a great host, even though he was out of town during most our stay. The place was totally clean and ready for us upon our arrival. he was ready with local suggestions, he made sure to check in with us periodically, and he was understanding about our mega-delayed flight bringing us in hours after we had planned.
Location: The location was the reason we chose this rental - it did not disappoint. It's a 30-min walk to the farthest point we would want to go on 6th Street, but there are plenty of bars, restaurants, and sights within a 15min walking radius. We rented bikes for a day from Mellow Johnny's (short walk) and were able to get to UT, Hyde Park, South Congress, and Mt Bonnell on short, easy rides (except Mt Bonnell - 30 mins but very nice ride). It's just a few blocks from the flagship Whole Foods, which came in very handy. Nice immediate neighborhood as well, close to three well-reviewed restaurants (didn't get to check any of them out).
Apartment: The bed was perfect after a long day of roaming the city - firm enough for a good night's sleep, but still comfortable. We stayed in one night and enjoyed the kitchen, big-screen TV, and Netflix. We didn't get to make use of the back patio (cold/rain), but it looked like the perfect breakfast spot! Overall, the space is really nice and home-y. As you might expect, the apartment is a little more worn-in than shown: the sliding bathroom door got stuck easily and often, the burners on the stove wouldn't go any lower than about 8 out of 10, and it's a bit smaller than the photographs feel. The small feeling is partly due to a change in furniture (different couch, much bigger TV, different bed - or comforter?). There is another apartment upstairs and the walls (floors) are a bit thin - I was woken up a few times to the upstairs neighbors walking around (sounded like stomping!). This is not to the fault of Robert or this rental, and none of these notes would stop me from recommending the space - just some things for future renters to be aware of.
This was our first AirBnB renting experience and it was a great one. Thanks Robert!
Rob was a very friendly host and a great communicator! He responded quickly to our booking, and also checked in with us the week before and on the day-of our stay. If we had any questions, he was just a text away.
This garage apartment is located in a safe, convenient, central location - within a short walking distance, there are cute shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, and the oh-so-wonderful Whole Foods.
As a couple of others have said, the photos are a bit outdated (see Raul's review - November 2014; Matt's review - April 2014). The tenant upstairs woke us up a few times in the wee hours of the morning (y'know, some spontaneous sing-screaming at 3am, with an encore at 5am), but that was a minor annoyance considering we saved some cash vs. staying at a hotel - also, nothing some ear plugs couldn't fix. A huge bonus: the outdated photos do not showcase the huge upgraded TV in this place! On the rainy day, we utilized Rob's Apple TV and Netflix.
Based on location and convenience, we would definitely consider staying here again. Thanks, Rob!
P.S. On a side note, if you've never been to Austin, check out Rainey Street in the east end, (website hidden)'s Foodie Tour, and you can't go wrong grabbing a meal from an Austin food trailer!
Hey Everyone! My name is Rob and I live and grew up in the Austin area. Travel is huge in my world so naturally AirBnB became an instant fit with me. I also love meeting new people and creating new experiences along the way. Some of my favorite things I love sharing with new people about Austin is the food, nightlife and culture, and just how eclectic and awesome they can be. So far my favorite place I have traveled has been Marfa Texas about eight hours from Austin and right in the middle of no where.
