Located in one of Austin's most tranquil and desirable neighborhoods, Old West Austin, you will be walking distance to everything downtown has to offer! A short ten minute walk to the heart of the city will put you right in the middle of all the bar, restaurant and nightlife! An even shorter walk takes you right to the hike and bike trail, and all the water and outdoor activities Lady Bird Lake has to offer.
When you're done for the day, you will love the fact how easy it will be to get home. Most cab rides are between 5 and 7 dollars, and the bus picks and drops off two blocks from the house. You will find all the amenities to feel at home. A private drive, washer/dryer, and a private patio are just a few that set this place apart.
The home also features two spacious rooms and one full size bath. One room has a wonderful full size sofa bed, and the other with an amazingly comfortable full size slatted bed.
Wireless internet , a fully stocked Kitchen and a relaxing Bath with fresh linens are just a few of the accommodations awaiting to delight you here, yet nothing will beat being in the middle of it all !
There is no smoking inside the house at any time, but both outside patios you are more then welcome to. Also to limit the number of guests you invite over. The apartment is in a neighborhood and just as a courteous to the neighbors when it comes to noise.
Robert was very good about providing explicit directions to the property and having the place well-lit, and nicely cool when I arrived at 2am. That was a life-saver as the Austin air was heavy and walking into a humid, sticky apartment would have meant I didn't get any sleep my first night in town.
Didn't speak with him personally, but Roberts was very responsive via both email and text messages. He accommodated my one unique request (very late arrival time) without any issue and I found everything in the place to be largely neat and clean. As I mentioned in private feedback, I am not a picky traveler. If you're a 'hotel' person, this unit probably is a little too rough around the edges. But if you're looking for a great place in Austin that is walking distance to most everything, this is a good spot.
Didn't see or hear the neighbors once, but they were clearly home as the car came and went from the driveway.
I never met Robert, but he was available by text if we needed anything, which we didn't. He sent a street map with arrows on it to find the place. Written directions would have been helpful. This is a converted two story older apartment behind the main house, and fronts the alleyway behind it next to some brick apartment buildings. The first room you enter when you come in looks like a converted porch. The extra linens for the couch were in the floor of the closet in that room. The bathroom is off that room and is tiny, but serviceable. The t.v., which we never watched, is enormous. Double bed, full size fridge, gas stove (you need matches to light it), new coffee maker, new toaster oven, and dishes/glasses/silverware in the kitchen. No central HVAC - window units for cooling and gas floor heaters. The Whole Foods is amazingly close and there are lots of good places to eat very nearby. It was in a great location for our needs.
I have rented a lot of airbnb properties including 7 times in Austin downtown area in the last year. Compared to other properties I have rented this was only average. It's a little further out of downtown than others and not in great condition (not bad but not great). As others have noted in other reviews the pictures are a little dated and it needs a bit of a refresh. Additionally the upstairs tenants (whilst not Robert's responsibility) are very noisy, partied one night and confronted me and one of my work colleagues in the parking area out the front one night. All in all given the location and condition its probably a little expensive compared to other properties available.
Good location for South by Southwest! Quiet neighborhood close to 6th Street, a nice walk or really short drive to center of music festival. House has plenty of space, though could use some work--that door to the driveway I used constantly sticks badly, is really hard to open. Would have been nice to have a hair dryer--host said he'd drop one off but it never materialized. Oh, cleaning wasn't quite finished when I arrived--some more attentiveness would have made the experience even better.
Rob's place was great and just what was needed for a weekend exploring Austin. We didn't spend too much time in the apartment but it worked great for walking to downtown bars and places to eat. He was extremely responsive, providing suggestions on places to eat/go out and very easy going. Would stay with Rob again for sure.
Robert was a great host. He was very responsive and welcoming, and made sure we were settled. The neighborhood was quiet, while still being close to tons of activities, restaurants, etc. It was a great stay.
Rob was very accommodating and the apartment was perfect for us. We had no issues finding it. The area is perfect for someone wanting to explore Austin. We took Uber rides and never spent more than $10 on a trip. Highly recommend!
Hey Everyone! My name is Rob and I live and grew up in the Austin area. Travel is huge in my world so naturally AirBnB became an instant fit with me. I also love meeting new people and creating new experiences along the way. Some of my favorite things I love sharing with new people about Austin is the food, nightlife and culture, and just how eclectic and awesome they can be. So far my favorite place I have traveled has been Marfa Texas about eight hours from Austin and right in the middle of no where.
