ABOUT BUNKER
/ The love child of Los Angeles and Saigon. /
We're a four room villa located in the laid-back neighborhood of Da Kao in District 1. Residing in a beautiful French colonial villa in a quiet alley, Bunker offers its guests not only a stylish and comfortable stay but insight into Saigon's growing urban culture. We’re an international team with deep roots in creative, interior design and the food and drink industries. We came together at Bunker to blend the classic spirit of Los Angeles with the fresh energy of Saigon.

YOUR SPACE:

This is a private two bedrooms unit inside of the Bunker's villa. Recently renovated from a back unit of the old colonial French Villa, the Da Kao Loft provides a poetic and cozy living experience with its unique and light filled layout. The main center piece of the space is the triple height living room that create an airy atmosphere for decompression after a long day exploring the city. The bedrooms are nested along the spiral staircase which attached to a side of the living room. The unit also comes with a fully equipped kitchen.

We would like to invite you to also spend quality down time on the rooftop. Here you can find yourself reading a book in the bathtub or sharing a bottle of wine with your travel companions.

CAFE YEN
This small and charming coffee shop occupies the front yard on the ground floor of the Bunker compound. Originated from Hanoi, they gained popularity by making aromatic and tasty original recipes with selected beans from the highland of Vietnam. Focusing firmly on the quality of the coffee, Cafe Yen provides a quiet and unassuming atmosphere for those who truly come to taste.

THE BARBER SHOP
Behind the breakfast bar downstairs, you will find a little barber shop called Hoai Niem (Old-fashioned). Occupied by four young and enthusiastic man, they are well-known for their takes on adapting old Vietnamese hair style with love and passion. Only available through appointment.

Guest access
You're welcome to enjoy all the facilities we provide.

Location

District 1, Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam

District 1 is not famous for being quiet. However, Da Kao, our neighborhood, provides an unique laid-back but up-and-coming vibe. Surrounded by many great places, whether you want traditional Vietnamese street food, hip cafés or bars, you can be there in less than 15 minutes walking.
It's also a nice 20 minute walk to Notre Dame, a 10 minute walk to the Saigon Zoo and a 5 minute walk to the famous love temple that Obama visited last May.

Hello, My name is Mike Pham and I'm the co-founder of Bunker, a bed, breakfast and bar; and CAMP, a curated accommodation. Both located in the laid-back Da Kao neighborhood of District 1. We're not just a bed and breakfast. We are food lovers, coffee enthusiasts, seekers and appreciators of good design and culture. As such, we aim to curate an immersive experience of life in the modern iteration of Saigon. As our guest, even if you're here for only a day—you are living, not visiting. BUNKER'S PRESS RELEASE: To live and to dine in LA. Bunker is a bed, breakfast, and bar. It’s inspired by the real, irreverent, and sometimes run-down neighborhood haunts of Chinatown, Los Angeles, where some of us grew up. Designed to reflect not just the look, but the mood of such a space and time. The idea was to capture what an immigrant family would create in Los Angeles in the early 1990s, with no resources, no design sense, no Pinterest, no English skills, but a lot of love for food and the neighborhood where they make a living. (Bunker’s neighbors are invited to grab a free coffee every morning.) While paying homage to that era, Bunker wanted to bring the quality of the food to today’s standards. Hot dogs and burgers are made using freshly baked buns from a local bakery. Hamburger patties and potatoes wedges are homemade and hand cut, respectively. Even the coffee is extracted from single-origin beans from Da Lat, Vietnam. The bedrooms keep their French colonial structure (we are in Ho Chi Minh City after all), but the interior decor is an irreverent mix of neon, aged wood, open bathtubs, books, and kitschy souvenirs collected from around the world — reminiscent of lodgings above Chinatown storefronts. About Camp Dakao: / When Wong Kar Wai meets Susan Sontag / Camp Dakao is living space that's filled with arts, memories and thoughts. Our design progress includes imagining how a place can be poetic, mesmerizing, sensual and most of all, comfortable. Staying here, after a day exploring the hectic city of Saigon, we'd like to invites our guest to rest in a calm and cinematic memories of Saigon in the mid-90s.
