This is the kind of guests that neither hosts or other guests would like to have. This was a dreadful experience for us. As hosts for several years with on average very good reviews, we have never experienced something similarly. The guest and his family had it seems not read the house rules or did not care about them. The rules are rather simple: i)no additional guests beyond the guests announced at reservation. The house can host a maximum of 7 persons. No, it cannot house more than 7 persons. If a guest announces that they will be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 at reservation, that number of guests will be allowed in. No, we do not allow for guests that have not been announced. As a new rule, we will now request a copy of a valid identity card for all guests. ii)do not leave the premises with the keys. It is simple, the keys are difficult and expensive to replace. New rule: Guest will not be given a key. The guard will open and lock at request. iii)take care of the house and leave the house in reasonable order; and iv) there is a guard on the premises with his family (no the guard does not live in the main house that you are renting. They live in an annex behind the main house). What is this guest complaining about: i) he brings additional guests, a lot of additional guests that were rude and noisy. When the guest was kindly reminded that this is not permitted per house rules, he became disrespectful and aggressive. No guest has ever insulted me, my helpers, my honest and respectful guard and his wife as this guest has. What a very unpleasant experience; ii) the guest did not bother to respect the rule, don’t leave the premises with the keys. What happened: the guest lost the keys. These keys are special keys and are very expensive to replace. We must bring in a service man from Tunis (350 km away) to sort this out. It will be very time consuming and expensive. The guest claims innocence and is refusing to pay compensation. Dear guests, we had stopped to ask for a deposit to facilitate the access as some of you simply did not have the funds to pay for it. With the experience of this guest, we are obliged to re-introduce a strict policy of a deposit. We ask the guests to take care of the house as it is their own house. We clean before arrival and after arrival. In this case, we had not only an incredible mess that took hours to clean up but, we had to de-clog the sewer from diapers. Wonderful way of disposing diapers! Seriously, does anybody do that at home? This guest is stating that we are hiding the washing machine. Well, as we have detailed in the house rules, the washer is in a separate building right behind the main house. We will also make a new rule because of this guest: the washing machine can only be operated by the guard or his wife. There are unfortunately persons that still do not know how to use a simple machine without putting the machine at risk. The guest complains that the guard asked for money. Well, again, as per house rules: if a guest asks for additional services – help to carry luggage, help to clean, cook, shop, take care of children, dogs, cats, parents this, is not included in the rental price and must be negotiated with the guard. We have given an estimated price list of services in the house rules. Dear fellow hosts, this client is the kind of client that makes your life as a host very difficult and unpleasant. This client has made us loose a significant amount of money. I cannot recommend this client to anybody. Dear guests, except for this black swan, we have had wonderful experiences and we welcome you back any time. This guest will be banned forever at any property that we are or will have listed on AirBNB Dear AIRBNB: you must introduce measures to facilitate our life as hosts when we have clients that are not following basic rules. Please, at least you could ban them!
