About this listing
Spacious and well lighted room for 1 to 3 people in big old traditional house from 1915 in Cerro Artillería, Valparaíso.
For people of young spirit (old house in constant repairing, except when guests are here)
SPECIAL OFFERS FOR LONG STAY
We have big beautiful rooms in an old, classic house of Valparaiso, built in 1915, with an unique charm, maybe cause it's old and in need of some repairs, but with lovely wide rooms, detailed walls and a beautiful view to the bay and boats, perfect for watching the fireworks of New Year's Eve.
There are 4 rooms available for guests, big and well lighted, single or double, with 2 bathrooms exclusive for guests (one on the first floor and one on the second floor).
You have full access to the kitchen and all the equipment of the house (washing machine, have a nice barbecue in the back yard, etc)
This place is very well connected to the city, with public transport at the door and it's perfect for exploring the city afoot and quickly reach the center, where you can find banks, shops, cultural centers, eat at different restaurants, learn about the culture of the city, and take a trip to the port or boat ride to see the bay.
The neighborhood it's mainly residential, with grocery shops close by, and well known to be a perfect place for students to stay, since there are many Universities in the area.
And a little about ourselves...
We are a young couple that inherited this big house. My partner Benjamin is an Art teacher, and I (Javiera) am a Graphic Designer and also a jeweler in my free time. We're very calm and friendly, we like to respect our guests privacy but also willing to share and help them in whatever they need.
Kitchen, dining room, back yard, and all common areas in general.
Interaction with Guests
We are always willing to help our guests and we love sharing some good chilean wine with a nice talk.
The area is mostly families, Universities and Navy buildings (such as the Navy Museum in Paseo 21 de Mayo, a very touristic place).
There are many grocery shops near by and delivery food (but they take so long that it's actually faster to walk there, order and come back).
Public transport couldn't be easier from our house. At our very door you can take a bus to almost anywhere. The 602 bus drives trough the coast to Concón, perfect to visit beautiful beaches, 216 goes to Viña del Mar, 510 and 706 drive through Valparaiso.
From the bus Terminal, in Pedro Montt street, the bus 706 will drive you to our house, and the Taxi Colectivo "Pacífico" (black car, red sign on top with "PACIFICO") will take a shorter route and drive you to the corner of Avenida Gran Bretaña and Avenida Playa Ancha, less than a block from our house.
You can bring guests from 9:30 am to midnight.
We provide a copy of our house keys to come and go as pleased.
We also provide a clean room and clean bed sheets and towels, which depending on how long is the stay will be replaced weekly. To people who stay for more than 1 month we give the extra set of bed sheets and towels, so keeping the room clean and changing the bed sheets it's left for the guest to do, as well as contributing to keep the house clean and organized by cleaning after cooking and/or using dishes, etc. (and this last thing is the same for shorter stay).
House economy is also very important, like taking short showers and disconnecting phone and computer plugs when they are charged.
We recycle, so ask where you can put plastic, metal, glass and organic waste in the house to help us with that (something sadly not very common in Valparaíso).
We have two dogs that are always wandering around the house, they are very playful and friendly. But when guests arrive we can leave them at the back yard if required so it's no trouble at all. (Most of the time people love them and accept them so we don't have to change their habits).
Finally, this is a home, not an hotel nor hostel, we love sharing with travelers and it's very common that we share at least one night with nice chilean wine to talk, share experiences and recommend places to visit.
