Explore the city from a huge renovated house with a tree-filled yard and breathtaking views of the city from the enormous upper terrace. The perfect location to enjoy Guanajuato's charms: close to the university, just a 5 minute walk from the city’s historic center but tucked in a neighborhood away from the crowds. The upstairs bedrooms have private bathrooms and lounge areas, the two lower bedrooms share a bathroom.

Casa amplia a 5 minutos caminando del centro con vistas hermosas de la ciudad.

The space
The house has good wifi, solar water heaters and a washing machine that guests are welcome to use (there's no dryer, but clothes dry very fast on the clothesline in the dry air). Like many homes here, the house is on a narrow alley and not accessible by car -- from the nearest vehicular street it's about a 30 yard walk to the front door.
If this is your first time to Guanajuato, I hope you'll love the city as much as I do, but be aware that the city is 6,700 feet above sea level and very hilly, and the house has a lot of stairs (two flights of stairs to reach the upper bedrooms). Guanajuato has a very mild climate, and like most homes mine doesn't have heating or air conditioning, but the rooms have ceiling fans and extra blankets.

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire home.

Other things to note
Mario offers airport pickup from the Leon airport (BJX) for an additional fee of 550 pesos, which is roughly $30 US. Please let me know if you're interested in having him pick you up and drop you off at the airport.

The house is very close to the University of Guanajuato -- the UG language school is just steps away -- and just a 5 minute walk from the city's main plaza (the Jardin), so everything you could want is a short walk away, from restaurants to shopping to bars and coffee shops. Many local landmarks -- Plaza Baratillo, Teatro Juarez, the Alhondiga, Casa Diego Rivera, the main cathedral -- are an easy walk from the house.

I love my city and love sharing what I know about Austin with my guests -- I'll have a 3-page tip sheet for you when you arrive with some of my favorites: restaurants, bars, wine tours, outdoor adventures, etc. I can point you to the funky bar where the locals go, the little dinner spot that's perfect for an anniversary or the live music venues that still have that authentic Austin vibe. I'm an editor for a Texas-focused digital newspaper. I'm also writing my first novel, honing my woodworking skills (I build headboards and art from reclaimed wood, you'll see my work in your room) and traveling whenever I can. And I try to find time for the occasional barbecue or winery road trip somewhere in Central Texas. I like to interact with my guests (I'm interested in people of all flavors) but I'll also be respectful of your space. Not everyone wants to uncork wine on the deck with the host, but I'm happy that some of them do. Hablo espanol y estoy feliz de recibir a los huespedes que prefieren comunicar en espanol.

During your stay
My friend and house manager, Mario, will meet you at the house, give you the keys and show you where everything is. He's a Guanajuato native and fluent in English, so he's a great resource for things to see and do in the city. I am reachable through the Airbnb messenger. Hablo español.

Mi amigo Mario cuida por la casa y habla español y ingles. Él se encontrará en la casa con las llaves.
