Unique, large and bright with views

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Piaggia Colombata, Perugia, Umbria, Italy

The Space

Incredibly located only metres away from the historic centre of the Etruscan Perugia, this wonderful apartment offers terraces, views and stunning garden.

Just a short distance (100mt) from the ancient “doors” of city of Perugia, this beautiful home is a true jewel. Only newly made available for rental, the apartment is situated on the 3rd (top) floor of a large restored farmhouse with medieval origins.
The apartment has independent access through an external stairwell covered in wisteria.

It is a large apartment (100 square metres) with a spacious bright living/dining room and open kitchen.
Two bedrooms; one with king bed, the other one with twin beds, one 90cm and one 120cm large, each have an en suite bathroom. If you need a baby-cot or an extra bed, it will be complementary (also with linens of course).
The apartment has an East facing terrace, perfect to enjoy breakfast, and a “covered” West facing terrace, ideal for al-fresco dinners.

All linens for bed/bathroom and for the kitchen will be provided.
Hair dryer

Free wi-fi.

The area is very peaceful, set in a green surrounding with flowers and olive trees, although in the middle of town. (I'm very fortunate to live here all year.)

Upon arrival, I will make sure that you'll find all that you need: coffee, milk, sugar, salt, oil, a pack of pasta and tinned tomatoes, bread and jam.
The kitchen is fully equipped with micro-wave, toaster, boiler and coffee-machine.
So do not worry about anything and start enjoying this beautiful heart of Italy.
And upon your return enjoy a bottle of complementary wine.

The apartment is situated at walking-distance to the Universities (Italian Uni.+Uni. for Foreigners) and the city centre.

Within the neighbourhood, at less than 10 minutes’ walk, you’ll find the tennis club, the swimming centre, and the mini metro’, which can easily take you to a number of destinations. A 15 minutes’ drive leads you to the golf courses and the equestrian centre.

Perugia is a stunning town and is also incredibly located. Some of the most beautiful Italian sites are only a short drive/train ride away. From Perugia you can easily do day trips by bus/train/car to: Assisi, Spoleto, Gubbio, Lago Trasimeno, Spello, Siena, Firenze and the National Parc of Monti Sibillini.

I love having guests and will be at your disposition for advice on day-trips, places where to eat and even offer Italian cooking lessons.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Cecilia's apartment. It's spacious, light and airy. The location -- very close to one of Perugia's old city gates -- is very convenient. Cecilia is a welcoming hostess and guide and is very knowledgeable about the area.

    Response from Cecilia:

It was great to have met you and I would be so happy to have you here again.

  • What a lady; what a home and what a great holiday!!!!!!
Our flight was delayed from Dubai into Rome by 6 hours and even though Cecilia was not in Italy we contacted her by phone and email and she organised for Petra to meet and welcome us at 10.30 at night. The home was as described on the website. It is very warm and welcoming. It has a well appointed kitchen; the bedrooms with ensuites are excellent. The living area is large airy and bright. The two balconies are just perfect for breakfast and relaxing after a day exploring Umbria. It was our home away from home.
The home is perfectly located and a 4 minute walk to the supermarket which has everything you need. You can easily walk into the historical centre; to the mini metro stations and the bus and train stations.
Cecilia is the perfect host and meeting her and sharing meals with her only added to the overall enjoyment of our holiday. Her knowledge of Umbria and it's history; of where to visit and how to get there is both extensive and invaluable.
Cecilia's recommendations of where to eat we're also spot on.
Cecilia has two great dogs(Pepino and Mara) who are adorable and were frequent visitors to our apartment.
Petra is also very lovely and cheerful and willing to assist in any way.
Our overall experience of staying with Cecilia in her wonderful home in a wonderful city was nothing short of fantastic.
We stayed for a month, but it will be longer next time.

    Response from Cecilia:

I, my dogs, Petra, all, are going to miss you! It was so nice to know that you were upstairs...and the dogs have been going up looking for you.
We would all be so very happy to meet you again!

  • Staying at Cecilias lovely home was so nice and comforting. The apartment is very bohemic and arty, in the best way possbile. It was a warm and inviting place to come into, with a big garden and swimming pool for us to enjoy.

In the apartment they had prepared a lot of information about Perugia. There were brochures and magazines to leaf through if we wanted and also a much appreciated little guide written by Cecilia herself.

Cecilias housekeeper, Petra, took great care of us since Cecilia herself was on vacation (but she kept close contact with us via email, before and during our stay). One day we heard a knock on the door and there was Petra with a big smile offering us some yummy cake, very sweet of her... but she also left us mostly to ourselves, and if we had any questions she was available to answer them.

There were also two dogs on the property, which Petra took care of. They were very sweet and a little wild looking, but they behaved themselves around us, no problems.

The beds were nice, kitchen was well equipped and we cooked dinner a few times together. Bathrooms were good too and the sofas were reeeeally comfortable. It's a 3 minute walk to the supermarket and 4 minutes to the mini métro leading up to the city centre and the main railway station isn't even a 5 minute drive away.

We recommend this apartment to anybody travelling in Umbira, either as a base for daily excursions to other nearby places or for enjoying Perugia. This city seems full of life, not just a tyical tourist place, they have a lot of events going on it seemed, so much culture and it felt like it had a great balance to it that way.

Thank you Cecilia and Petra for taking good care of us and letting us enjoy your wonderful home and hospitality!

    Response from Cecilia:

I am so sorry I missed meeting you and your family, but hopefully one day we meet, either in Perugia or in Sweden!

  • We had a gorgeous stay at Cecilia's house - it really was like being at 'home'. We are an Austrailian family of four with two children aged 4 and 10, and the accommodation was perfect for us - spacious living areas, truely comfortable beds with lovely linen, beautiful decorated throughput, seperate bathrooms, an amazingly well-stocked kitchen, lovely small touches, within easy walking distance to the old town of Perguia, a 4 minute walk to a wonderful little supermarket and delicatessen which bakes its own breads, as well as being near a wonderful swimming pool. The house was perfectly positioned for our adventures in Umbria as we pottered around beautiful hill-top towns - coming back to Cecilia's oasis after a day exploring was heaven. A most generous and lovely lady, Cecilia was so gorgeously helpful and kind, we shall miss her very much, and saying goodbye was enough to make me cry.....our children were happy to stay on without us!!!!
    Thanks so much Cecelia!!!!

Dear Friends! Dear Hattie and little Andrew! I am the one who is missing you! I am sure you are having a wonderful time and that you are making a lot of new experiences! Have a continued lovely trip! Cecilia

  • Cecilia Schippa is a gem. She is the perfect hostess - friendly, helpful and informative without being intrusive. Her guest apartment - one floor of her house - is tastefully furnished, spacious and cool. The balcony overlooks a garden, perfect for evening cocktails. Cecilia's house is easily reached by car, the light rail or from the railway station. It's in walking distance to the centre of Perugia. We cannot recommend Cecilia and her lovely apartment too highly.

    Response from Cecilia:

    Dear Grhame and Helen,
Thank you ever so much for your wonderful review and thank you for coming to Italy and Perugia.
Hopefully next time you'll be able to visit the castle of Manova and Mantegna's "Camera Picta".
    Big hug

  • We had such a fantastic stay at Cecelia's house. She and her beautiful dogs greeted us and she showed us the in's and out's of her airy and spacious home. She left eggs and a few jams in the fridge for us to enjoy along with a congratulatory bottle of wine (it was our belated honeymoon). She had a ton of restaurant recommendations and made herself available to answer any questions. Our only regret was that it wasn't sunny or warm enough to partake of her beautiful pool!

  • Cecilias apartment is the perfect place to stay if you are exploring Umbria, a short walk to Perugia itself and easy drives to Assisi etc.
Cecilia is a great host, she supplied maps and detailed information on the local area and then left us to do our own thing, but was available when we had questions.

  • Ourselves and our four year old daughter had a wonderful stay in Perugia. Cecilia's apartment is lovely, very well appointed and really spacious. We felt at home immediately. Cecilia is a faultless hostess, very accommodating and unobtrusive with lots of ideas on places to visit in the locale. We were lucky enough to meet other members of Cecilia's family and our daughter had a fabulous time playing with the grandchildren!
Perugia is a beautiful city as is the surrounding area and there are lots of places easily accessible by train or car. As Perugia airport is so close to the city we didn't need to hire a car. The train station is also very near to the apartment. We would not hesitate in recommending this apartment.

Ciao! my name is Cecilia and I have only recently made the third floor of my home available for rental. I very much look forward to my first guests and this new exciting adventure! I have lived in Perugia for over 40 years and love this corner of the world with its traditions, natural and historical beauty and culinary feasts. Umbria is the Italian region with a perfect balance of great locations, friendly people, good quality of life, safe cities, medieval villages, superb food and wine....a kind of paradise! Perugia is a real jewel, narrow medieval streets, wonderful restaurants, good wine and olive oil, along with hundreds of great locations to visit within less than 30/40 minutes by car/train. If you decide to come here, I will be delighted to suggest itineraries, places to visit and share with you a bit of real Italian life. I would be delighted to also show you how to cook some Italian specialties, as cooking is my passion! Hope to meet you soon, Cecilia
